Traumatising - will never be back

The staff were friendly

We had a traumatic experience, to find a towel that was folded and hanging up which, when we took it off the rail to use it, had multiple large amounts of blood and semen on it. It was so disgusting I felt like vomiting. We immediately called reception who replaced the towel but had no other communication about it.We also found bloody splatters on the wall, and the coffee machine was leaking. After we checked out, and re-informed reception of our towel experience, we went up to the restaurant for breakfast and paid $49 each for a very average buffet. We will never be back.

Birthday treat and dinner with family

Room was spacious and well sound-proofed from road noise. Clean and tidy. Close to Britomart Precinct and the waterfront area within easy walking distances. Staff were very pleasant.

Not a lot of car entranceway to the Hotel. While hotel room was spacious, bathroom was much too small. Corridors were too dark and strip-lighting not enough. General decor was altogether a little too ‘blingy’. Rooftop bar was extremely loud in the evenings (needs proofing) and music volume set too high inside for comfortable speech with friends & family.

Very pretty, not family friendly.

Very modern and clean. Loved the room layout.

On arrival they tried to give me the budget room (collection) when I booked the king studio room. They tried to say they are all king studio rooms which was annoying. The same lady made my daughter fall over by walking into our room without knocking and made her cry. She gave sweets to us to say sorry. The pool area has no ventilation and area is dark and creepy. No windows which I think gave my baby a fever by the end of the night.

Good hotel with comfy beds in central location.

Good central location. Comfy beds and nice rooftop bar. Nice corner room with some views. We had booked 2 rooms which were right next to each other with an extra door closing off both rooms to the corridor. Enjoyed sauna and jacuzzi and pool is fine to swim a few lengths.

Lots of curtains which were awkward to close (no cords) as had to squeeze behind furniture and bath. Shared sliding door on toilet and shower could be awkward if wanting to use both at same time. Room also needs more drawers for clothing. Gym not very well equipped but has sufficient dumbbells for an ok workout. Lobby was overly fragranced. A little disappointed due to the very high rating of this hotel but overall a good stay.

Terrible! I regret it!

Location

Paid NZD 740 per night mainly for Club Signature access, but it was a complete disappointment. Very poor canapés with only four options, nothing like the photos, no sparkling water and warm still water. Rooftop and sauna were closed, so most amenities were unavailable. Ended up leaving the hotel to eat and drink elsewhere. Total waste of money and I regret this booking.

Good facilities but poor staffing experience.

Rooms was great. Loved the bath and the view was great.

Staff didn’t feel like they cared. We were celebrating an anniversary and my leaving the country for 12 months. Staff were told and just said “I hope we can make the stay special” but did nothing. Felt very business, not personal. Only 1 vegan offering on the breakfast menu. We were told to try the buffet (at $50 per head) to see if there was something else. When we said no, the staff member greeting at the restaurant had a particularly negative facial expression. All up, I was very disappointed with the service. We had great service at dinner at Metita for the evening and they made a special effort to ensure the experience matched the special occasion. Hotels are about experience. This did not live up to the expectation.

I really liked the idea of having bath tubs in the regular rooms.

it was a holiday so staff seemed leaner than normal. I could not get anyone to pick up the concierge phone line.

Let’s down disappointed very frustrated

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing due to a clear lack of attention from staff, which appeared to stem from being understaffed. Simple requests took far too long to be addressed. Fresh towels for the room were significantly delayed, requiring follow-ups. Room service was equally frustrating — after waiting close to an hour for dinner, the food arrived cold. This hotel is advertised as a 5-star property, and the price certainly reflects that. Unfortunately, the level of service delivered did not align with those expectations. While the property itself has potential, the service issues overshadowed the experience. Better staffing levels and attention to basic guest needs are essential if this hotel wants to meet a true 5-star standard.

Amazing scent any part of the property you go to. Very clean all around and good value for money. Lovely breakfast and location of the breakfast area

Not fully what I expected

The location is good, many things around.

My room has a shared glass wall to the third floor common area, which means if I don’t close the curtains anyone in the common area can see into the room. Also the TV was not facing the bed, the layout is confusing.

Good stay in central CBD that offers a different approach to traditional hotels

Good location, spacious room and friendly reception team. Facilities are nicely taken care of and the rooftop bar is awesome!

Some miscommunication with reception when checking in, one of our room cards suddenly stopped working which was a minor inconvenience.

Really cool place to stay, would go back for the buffet again

Buffet was really good. Really good location, super friendly staff.

Bath plug was sticky and we couldn’t drain until the water had gone cold. The water pressure when filling made water fly out the hose of the pipe and made a puddle on the floor.

Luxurious hotel with impeccable service

Beautiful room with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on in a long time. Very friendly and impeccable service. Excellent location. Nice pool and spa and room service was delicious. Even the toiletries supplied were fabulous.

I’m not completely sold on the open plan bathroom but a small thing really.

The bed was comfortable. The location was convenient.

1. The pool is small, underground, and not well ventilated with a strong chlorine smell. 2. The chlorine smell mixed with the hotel signature smell wafted through the lower floors. 3. The staff were nice at The Spa, however it was expensive given the massage wasn’t great. 4. Our initial room overlooked a construction site, thankfully the staff updated this but I would have been disappointed to stay there. 5. The Harbourside restaurant has a nice view, the staff are nice. The food was OK… much better fine dining experiences elsewhere in Auckland.

Lovely stay in the city.

Loved the comfortable beds, fun decor and lovely swimming pool and spa pool

The coffee cups were so small! I nearly went and bought some mugs. Many people have commented on this and I would strongly strongly recommend getting some mugs for the rooms. It would really give So the edge it deserves. Trying to drink tea or coffee in cups that feel child sized just didn’t fit with the rest of So’s generosity.
