Great location! Good for a short stay!

Great location for those coming off a cruise. Close to shops and restaurants.

Very noisy inside. People are disputing with staff about service quality and air conditioning, and children are playing for extended periods in the hallway. Perhaps it was my bad luck, but the staff needs to be trained to handle complaining guests.

How long should we wait for check-in ?

Hotel was right in the middle of City Area

It took close to 30 to 40 mins to check-in. We were told the computers were down. Then we were told our booking got canceled by a system Glitch. This was terribly annoying. We've had a few to drink and we were asked to wait for the system to work again. We were quoted $288 per night. But then we were asked to book through 'booking.com'.....this was $319 per night. It just seemed rather unprofessional the way we had to hang around the reception....waiting and waiting. Bit sad by the whole experience. We didn't even stay the full night.

A great hotel in a great location and would definitely stay here again

The room had a fabulous view and was in a great location. Although breakfast was not included, it was available at a very reasonable price with a great selection of food. We also had an evening meal which was also of great quality. The hotel is situated in a great location for all the activities on offer in Auckland and very close to the harbour - ideal for boat trips.

Was ok but could of been much better

The service! Had to request to have our room serviced when we were staying 4 nights. On arrival our room was not ready after check in time and had to wait 2 hours before our room was ready which was not good enough

Disastrous arrival otherwise reasonable.

Meals both breakfast and dinner. The location was great. The room was reasonable but there was no view.

Reception was a mess. It made ‘faulty towers’ look five star. We arrived from USA at 8.00a.m. Whilst aware that we were early we had no option. The reception staff took my phone number and promised to contact us when a room became available. At 1.30 p.m. I approached reception and was told nothing was available but they could guarantee a room by 3.00 p.m. A number of other people had arrived in the interim and received rooms. At 3.00p.m. I once again approached reception. We had not received any notification. We were given a room (420). My wife and I took our cases to the room to find it was already occupied and there were cases in the room. I returned to reception and informed the staff. One staff member then went upstairs and checked. After some time he returned and said they would find another room. I asked to see the manager or supervisor as we had now been waiting over 7 hours since our arrival. A lady arrived (I belief she was a deputy manager). She suggested we go to the 13th floor and wait while a room became available. She also gave us 2 free drink tickets and said she would contact us when she had a room. We went to the 13th floor, had our drink and at 4.40 p.m. I returned to reception. We had not been contacted. The same lady was attending customers at reception. I waited for her to become free and asked about our room. She gave us the keys to room 320. By this stage we had waited over 8.5 hours for a room. No one at any time bothered to contact us. We were treated shoddily. I was suffering from a heavy cold and we had been travelling from Las Vegas. All up we had been travelling and waiting over 30 hours. On departure the hotel waived the cost of our breakfasts.

The restaurant for breakfast was way too hot to enjoy, unsure if the AC was not working as a number of fans were out but only 2 were on. It was uncomfortably hot and stuffy and not enjoyable

Great hotel in Auckland downtown and harbor

Superb location, right in the center of everything, 2 minutes walk to the harbor and the ferries, 10 minutes to the Sky tower. The tourist hop on/off bus stop is right by the hotel. Attractive price in comparison to the waterfront hotels which are 1 minute away. Staff were great, service was very quick and efficient. Vibrant bar/restaurant upstairs with nice views on the city and the water. Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed staying and would definitely recommend.

Excellent service at check in. We got a free room upgrade which we appreciated, so my daughter and I had a bigger room and a bed each! We loved the chocolate hour for guests - it was delicious. Everything was very clean and tidy and the room was excellent. The location was superior as we could walk to everywhere we needed to be. Will definitely be returning.

Good location, staff, room, breakfast and bed. Poor valet parking and a lot of street noise.

The room itself was lovely and spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, which we really appreciated. The mini bar offered great options, and the room service breakfast was excellent and a real highlight. Overall, while there were some clear comforts and quality touches, the noise and parking situation impacted our experience.

We had a mixed experience. After travelling a couple of hours to get to Auckland, it was disappointing to find there was no valet parking available, meaning we had to park a couple of blocks away, which wasn’t ideal on arrival. Unfortunately, our sleep was also disrupted as we woke multiple times during the night due to street noise even though we were quite high up, which detracted from what could have been a very restful stay.

Expectation vs reality, did not add value to a special night out

Overall the hotel; room; breakfast was good. Check in staff was friendly and helpful though check out staff can do with a lot more effort in being able to listen, comprehend and understand what was being asked vs explaining - I had paid my bill in full at check in but had a surprise when there was an amount left unpaid and check out staff could not explain why nor reason for it, none the less I paid and then still had to wait more than 20 minutes for our car to be brought back by the valet when we had asked for it to be ready at 8:45am as we checked out early to avoid the Santa parade preparations.

Driving to the hotel entrance is a challenge if you arrive from the wrong way - They’re located on the left side of Customs Street with no way of being able to cross / turn into, if you’re arriving from the right going up. Breakfast was good but nothing special - maybe it is just me but given Movenpick’s status; price paid and what was actually available, I felt it didn’t live up to that expectation. Sadly interaction with the one checkout staff left more of a disappointed impression of the overall experience of Movenpick Auckland. The room TV didn’t seem to work near all Channels were too dark to even watch anything. Minibar and snacks were nice but ridiculously overpriced for things that could be bought from the store across the street.

Maximum comfort, maximum luxury

The staff were amazing! We had a lovely welcome and settling in to our room. Then we got to our room and found a lovely platter and card for our wedding anniversary.

The shower leaked out into the hall which we felt bad about. It went under the door and along the wall which made the carpet in the hall a bit soggy. Other than that it was fantastic

Perfect for seeing Auckland

Everything was wonderful. The beds, linen’s & toiletries were very nice. The breakfast was also very impressive with great views from the restaurant. Perfect location to see Auckland.

Boy Racers up and down the Custom St from 10 pm through to 4am - no double glazing on the rooms and literally no sleep - this is the second time we have stayed here - it was the same last time too.
