Most disappointing hotel stay I can remember, as a frequent traveler for work/leisure in NZ & abroad

The staff at the living room (casual hotel restaurant) were really friendly and accommodating for our family group.

There were many problems with the basic facilities at the hotel such as heating system, lights, hot water, cleanliness and ventilation, and noise insulation. The pillows/blankets seemed poor quality and thin. We felt cold throughout the stay. We were in a group and there were similar issues in the other room too. The rooms were tired and seemed due for refurb, with black mould in the showers and dirt and dust under the sofa and behind the freestanding bath, dirty cutlery in the mini bar. We paid extra for our young child (who didn't require an extra bed) and no extra towel was left out for him. A very noisy wedding reception in the hotel totally ruined our stay, we got very little sleep that night and it ruined the following day for us. The staff were very unhelpful when the issues were pointed out and very reluctant to accept responsibility or offer a discount. They offered us a different room, but this was done as I was putting my child to sleep when we were unable to move. They tried to fix the lights but couldn't. They offered something in the end to compensate us but only after extensive communication (stressful and horrible to have to go through on top of the issues we had), and they refused my suggested discount. Our child couldn't use the indoor pools due to age restriction, and the outdoor pool was cold and windy with no sun. We also didn't really like the location, not much in the immediate area in terms of fine dining or activities. We ended up eating at the hotel quite a bit as a result and we enjoyed the food and friendly staff there. No kids menu for breakfast which was difficult as the buffet was quite limited/basic, there weren't enough fruit and vegetables for our child on any of the menus at the hotel. Overall the hotel was a massive disappointment, very overpriced for the standard and we will not return.

When you’re sharing a hotel with the entire All Blacks team you know you’re in one of the best hotel

This hotel is next tier amazing. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece with towering atriums reminiscent of a museum. The hydrotherapy room is relaxing and tranquil. Our booking came with breakfast included which was all you can eat- both buffet and order from the menu. Everything was incredible!

A real treat in the heart of the viaduct

The room was so much larger than I expected! Facilities were very clean. Great full length mirror and loved the walk in wardrobe. We stayed in the harbour view room so it was very special!

My only critique would be the windows aren’t entirely sound proof so could hear the nightclubs until the small hours of the morning but it didn’t bother us too much. Maybe bring some earplugs

Everything was spot on!! The room was spacious, well designed with high end chattels. The bathroom was top notch. I liked how toilet was separate from the bathroom. The view was extra special! The bed was so very comfy!

Beautiful hotel, central location - met all our expectations

The property was very nice and clean. It was in the central location close to all the major landmarks. Sky city Casino was only minutes away. The rooms were very spacious and the balcony was awesome with a view of the Harbour. The staff was very helpful too. The whole day dining was very accommodated and they served very late night as well. The quality of the food was amazing.

Loved where the hotel was, quiet, easy walk around the boats, sunny and nice to be my the water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfort of the rooms, facilities - the gym was great, breakfast which was included in our rate was incredible! The room was very dark, right temperature and quiet for an awesome sleep.

The room offered a marina view, we got to look at a building, not the same as pictured when booking. The veiw from the bathroom was blocked , the auto blind did not working, would not open. The bed was way too soft. And strangely did not have a top sheet. Oddly the internal layout reminds us of a prison setting in the movies.

Great stay for the second time at the Hyatt but again poor-quality TV spoilt the night!

Huge comfortable bed, top notch shower & bathroom, nice mood lighting in room, well stocked mini bar. Loved the hot spa room & swimming pool. One of the quietest & serene hotels we've stayed in. Perfect location to the ASB theatre.

This the second time staying at the Hyatt & again the TV sort of spoiled the night. After enjoying an entertaining play at the theatre my wife & I was looking forward to settling down to watch a film in our room to finish the night, but the TV has only one film channel & doesn't have a film guide to tell you what film is coming on & at what time. Really need to get Netflix or more film channels with a guide to inform you what's coming on. Very disappointing & maybe a deal breaker for booking accommodation to see our next play.
