Getting through to reception via phone takes ages.
Asked for a room service coffee and it was like they had never been requested room service before, disorganised and useless service. Four phone calls later and I didn’t even receive the coffee before I had to leave.

Location was great. Room size and friendly staff. Front office manager Kristina was great. Also waiter Heskeet was exceptional.

The room was spacious and clean. Location is excellent. Trivet restaurant was a highlight.
The experience at check-in was disappointing. The staff was not especially friendly. Drinks were offered to other guests at check-out but not to us. The man with glasses at check-in came across as particularly cold and unfriendly. Room cleaning was inconsistent. On 2 occasions, we returned to our room after 5.00 pm and found it hadn't been serviced. We had to request cleaning. We had lunch at the Forum bar but unfortunately the food quality was very poor and poorly presented.

clean modern facilities
paid for valet parking but not one day was the service punctual even though we gave ample notice. we were therefore late for 2 planned events. spoke to concierge and first time reason was they didn’t get message. second time also same reason. so spoke to the person bringing in the car and he took note. but alas the 3 rd time still had to wait for 10-15 mins while they go get the car. really poor service considering we paid for this.

Joshi with Guest Services check-in really made our stay more comfortable and pleasant. He was accommodating and informative as we arrived hours before our check-in time. He was very patient and went above and beyond in customer service. Although we were exhausted from lengthy travels, he helped make the time go by quickly. Fitness center, pool, sauna, hotel dining and location were all a plus as well.

Room was very comfortable and warm. It’s close to everything so seeing Auckland is quite easy. Breakfast had a good choice. Concierge was exceptional.

The front desk manager wrote us an apologetic email for inconvenience caused for the spoilt toilet in our room, which ended us changing to a new room. The apology would feel a lot more sincere if they got my name and gender correct in that email. Such info could be easily verified through the hotel system before drafting that mail. That simply reflects the anount of effort the hotel put behind service recovery. I would have expected a higher level service from jw mariott.

Location and modern aesthetic
Check in was delayed till 4pm. We requested early to check to set up a friend’s event, cake etc in the room.
We were offered two bottles of water for three people.
Breakfast line was long and we waited standing for 10+ mins to be seated.
We were late to an appointment because of this.

I stayed at the Marriott Hotel for two nights and had a truly restful and pleasant experience.
The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, providing the perfect environment to unwind after a busy day.
What made the stay even more enjoyable was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff.
From the smooth check-in to the small yet thoughtful gestures throughout, every interaction felt warm and sincere. Their helpful attitude made me feel very welcomed and cared for.
One small downside was the location of the main light switch, which was only near the entrance.
Although there was a bedside switch for some lights, I couldn’t control the main lighting from the bed, which was slightly inconvenient at night.

The room was spacious and suitable to our needs, close to everything and great hotel amenities, including pool, spa, sauna and cold plunge pool. After they understood our daughter was unwell, they kindly provided games and balloons to cheer her up. The buffet breakfast was good.
Room service was average, along with experiencing poor service and confusion when requesting to extend our original booking, after being told one thing on the phone, at the reception desk and then again when finally making the changes. Tried to extend once more and had a similar experience so just checked out as planned. Having to ask for basic essentials more than twice such as toilet paper, clean glassware, mugs and spoons, and not having everything stocked from the minibar.

Very comfortable rooms, with 2 rooms working well for a family of 5 (3 teenagers). Breakfast was very good and dinner in the Trivet restaurant was very enjoyable. Location is fantastic, a short stroll to most things including good restaurants, the Auckland Sky Tower and the ferry; our trip to Devonport was a highlight.
Please hire more than 1 person to run arrivals/ departures/ car parking out the front of the hotel! The gentleman was working as hard and fast as he could, but was completely overwhelmed...it was chaotic at best, with guests around us becoming increasingly anxious about getting to the airport! Shame, as this really didn't reflect the hotel at all, but first and last impressions may lead dissatisfaction with guests overall experience.

Location was central and close to the harbour precinct.
Staff were not helpful, room was not ready as advertised and took 6 hours to fix. Also three days in a row our room key didn’t work and had to be replaced each time. We also had to move cars for the valet as they couldn’t drive so we had to move other guests cars to get to ours.

Breakfast was good, with variety of food to choose from.
We asked for good view but were given a room with a terrace view. If you are given a room with a terrace view, ask for another room. We were given a corner room with an odd shape, which was not very convenient. For example, the TV was not facing the bed.
The room upon check-in was missing few basic items such as sugar and coffee. This was not even restocked the following day, and we had to call room service to ask. To make matter worse, after our stay, I received an email from the hotel accusing me of having taken some items from the minibar ( I don't drink alcohol!) and not paying for it. This wouldn't have happened if the hotel was more diligent in restocking the rooms after last guest.
The hotel restaurant dinner was average and service could have been better.

Room was clean and spacious -warm and temperature was easy to change. Lighting was excellent. Plenty of towels and was cleaned really well. Heaps of power plugs available. Storage was easy to access. Seating was comfortable. Valet service was excellent.
