Hotel Lindenhof by Crossworld AG

Our experience at Lindenhof was mixed at best. The hotel has a great location high in a charming and quiet residential area with a panoramic view of the lake. However, the walk up to the hotel is not easy. Yes, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes. But it is extremely steep and is difficult for families and older individuals. The hotel provides a free shuttle for check in and check out which is essential. They also mentioned that a ride at other times can be booked 1 – 2 hours in advance for CHF 20. While this appeared to be a good service given that Uber and other transport is not available, it turned out to be highly unreliable. For example, after a long day trip to the mountains we wanted to book a ride back up but the staff never bothered to respond to our Whatsapp message or calls. As such we had to walk up to the hotel after a tiring day of activity. The breakfast was great with a good variety of tasty items. The restaurant also offers halal chicken dishes. As far as we know Brienz did not have any decent halal option. The balcony, the peacefulness of the neighborhood, the views from the property, and the restaurant were its highlights. But given its problems, I believe it is highly over rated and priced.

While we had a family room with amenities like microwave and kitchenette, it did not have an iron and ironing table. And very surprising for us, iron/ironing table costs CHF 10 per day! I had never experienced this attitude or policy in my travels before. The mattress in our room was broken in the middle and very uncomfortable. The living room floor was not very clean. The balcony, the peacefulness of the neighborhood, the views from the property, and the restaurant were its highlights. But given its problems, I believe it is highly over rated and priced.

Location great (we had rental car), beautiful garden, amazing scenery. Free tierpark with 15 min walk was a nice surprise. Breakfast was typical for Swiss hotel, musli, cereals, scrambled egg. basic fruit salad and croissants.

We were in family room and charging 3 mobile phones and sport watch simultaneously in living room and bed room, resulting that kitchen’s electricity was off one night. Meat etc in the fridge was ruined. We were told that we must have been using some adaptor, foreign heating etc. but that was not the case. You would think that in a hotel, electricity system would be build a little bit more robust.

Great stay with beautiful views, an excellent breakfast, and truly delicious meals. However, the quality of the room leaves much to be desired. Despite the incredible view from the bed, it is made up of two separate mattresses with a gap in the middle, as well as single-person-sized blankets. In addition, the bed makes a lot of noise with the slightest movement, to the point that we probably disturbed the neighboring floors and the reception. It is therefore difficult to fully enjoy a "good night’s sleep". - E.B Manon-
