The hotel staff is very friendly as responsive. Check in was smooth and the breakfast was nice. The views are great and the styling is very much Swiss mountain hotel.
Our room was directly below the restaurant/breakfast area. It made it a bit noisy if you wanted to sleep in. Other rooms may not have the same issue.

The rooms are confortable and big. Bathroom clean and new. Our room had a wonderful view. The food was very good. Staff very polite and helpful.
Extremely expensive hotel and restaurant. I would also have expected a bit more variety at the buffet breakfast

Lovely family run hotel. Great views, great breakfast and excellent location
Walk up the hill but kids found it fun.

The lodge was beautiful, the staff were very helpful, the breakfast had a good variety of options and the sauna after a long day of exploring or up the mountain was amazing. The room was so spacious and the view was incredible.
It’s a little bit of a steeper walk from town (especially if you have luggage) and the roads can be a little slippery when it’s cold, a lift up and down would be better suited if you have some troubles with mobility. Otherwise good, and with the steeper walk up comes a better view out ☺️

A beautiful cottage house and friendly Staff.
Near city center and train station.
The room own a wonderful mountain view.
Due to the steepness of the road, it is recommended to drive a car with your luggage. The bathroom is old and faucets should be replaced. Right ?

The Alpenhof is a simple but comfortable hotel with lots of charm. It has an excellent breakfast, perfect to fuel up for a hike, and a very nice restaurant for winding down in with a delicious dinner.

We traveled for 36 days in France and Switzerland by car and stated at 15 hotels. This hotel was by far the best! The staff, facilities, restaurant and location were great! You must book a room with a mountain view it was spectacular.

We loved the location, the swiss-chalet style, the size of the room and cleanliness, the parking facilities.
Nothing. It was all good.

I was unable to have the included breakfast.
I have no complaints about the hotel or my stay. All was wonderful!

Very clean, great view, and very friendly staff.
A lot of the electrical switches were old and barely working. They should have been replaced long ago. Also, it was a pretty steep hike with luggage from the train station to the hotel.

Very pretty views and good breakfast
The room smelled badly and especially the bathroom. Laundry- especially dryer doesn’t work properly. We had to just lay our clothes on towels all over the room to dry.

Location, is uphill but short walk, so close to the crowd but quiet as on uphill. The breakfast was great with great view. The room is comfortable with great view outside, we have the living room version which has a roll out bed, that bed is ok. Price is pretty expensive per night.
The bugs can fly since the window has no bug filter. My visit was in summer, I need to have the window open to keep the temperature comfy. I was at the corner unit which I can hear car pass by late night and early in the morning. But other than that, we love it.

Our room was very nice - clean, spacious, & quiet. We very much appreciated the fan that was loaned to us since the hotel is not air conditioned and the temperatures were very warm! Dinner outside on the deck one night was delightful and delicious. Breakfast was good. We appreciated help doing our laundry since the washer & dryer directions were in German, but we thought the charge of 5 Franks/hour was a little much since it took quite awhile to dry! Most of the staff, especially the young lady who served our dinner & seemed to do several things in the kitchen/dining areas, were nice & customer service oriented. We enjoyed the patio area we had & being able to park our car there for free! It was a nice stay.
The hair dryer quit working; we used the fan in our room constantly because there was no AC; we got the impression from one or two of the employees that the hotel making money was more important than the customers being happy - perhaps that is just “personalities”.

View is nice
Some staff are not friendly and always blame customers when there is an issue or misunderstanding.

Staff was very kind and friendly. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a great view.

Very nice views, easy to reach from the train station, very nice balcony, comfortable beds
There us no machine for tea and coffee during breakfast, you need to ask the person in charge to bring them to you, when it is crowded, it difficult even for the person serving. Breakfast is good, but some things are difficult to reach i.e. vegetables are in jars and need to be taken with spoons

The view from our room was beautiful facing the mountains
It’s just an average motel. The path way to the place is very steep making it difficult to carry luggage. The rooms have basic amenities. The breakfast was okay and the staff were nice and attentive.

The location was great for walking to and around the town. Parking in town is hard so being within walking distance was fantastic. I like the friendliness of the staff. The rooms are very nice and clean and have a great view.

Stunning views of you get the right room
Nothing really except it’s a very steep climb up and they should not charge so much to just pick and drop you as it’s not even a minute of drive

We chose the Suite and it was perfect. We were lucky to get early check-in. We also had small terrace to enjoy the calm evening after our trip. The room had minibar with many drinks. We had a comfortable stay
The hotel is on the steep hill but it’s only 7-8 minutes.

We loved our entire stay here from the mountain views to the warm staff & great breakfast. Tucked away up the hill from the main drag we had a perfect setting for our first stay in the Alps!

Good stay at the center of Grindelwald. Near to the train station. Friendly staff, lovely view of the alps, clean room. Free parking spot. Good breakfast
A water kettle with tea bags would be nice. Pillows were uncomfortable, but we got other pillows on request.

The building is a bit dated
Breakfast could be better, but man working there was very helpful

We loved this place! It was a little bit of a hike to and from the town but nothing crazy. We liked that it was slightly off the main strip because it was a bit quieter. You could always drive up and down but we found the walk just fine! The bed were COMFY. Bathroom and facilities were clean. We enjoyed that the had laundry we could use. There food was OUTSTANDING! and services was top notch. We felt right at home. The staff there was more than accommodating and even let us keep our luggage there after we checked out so we could spend a half day exploring still!
The walk up could be too much for some. BUT, it was the reason we enjoyed it because it was off the main strip where it was a bit louder!

The location, top of a hill (get ready to drag your luggage up a steep hill but worth the views), you can take a stroll even more up for a beautiful stroll of the residences around the locals and cows! Also very central to all the shops, restaurants etc
Ground floor (don’t be on the 1st floor). I heard all the footsteps above me and all the plumbing. My bed was so small and not comfortable, also my pillow was lumpy aka old. I had lots of spiders in my room and one was huge I had to rescue it and put it outside. The bathroom was so small I hit myself multiple times (I am very tall). Ok if you are on a budget and for 1-2nights

Beautifully Swiss, stunning views, comfortable bed and brilliant breakfasts.
Nothing - apart from the steep walk up to the property, pushing a suitcase!

I liked everything. Close to the station and the center. Access with a card and not with a key like in other hotels. A nice fountain at the entrance. Refrigerator in the room, beautiful mountain view and very spacious room. I like that each room door has a drawn alpine flower. If I return to Grindelwald this is where I will stay.

The wooden design, the spectacular views, the friendly staff, the cleanliness, the included breakfast.
The lack of AC, the location on a hill.

Location and the view outside
Limited breakfast. It would be nice to have some salty dishes such as baked beans, tomato mozzarella or something salty but liquid in the breakfast. It was only breads with cheese and butter and oats with milk and fruits

Alpenhof is a lovely hotel that is very close to Grindelwald station and the main centre. Our room was very clean and spacious. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and filling.
The hike up the hill is not an easy one so just keep that in mind.

I really enjoyed that this hotel was located near the train station of Grindelwald. Overall the hotel was what I imagined it to be. It was quiet, friendly staff. My room was on the first floor, fairly small but had a comfortable bed and comfortable shower. The breakfast was very good in the morning. Nothing over the top fancy, a great room for a pleasant stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I would definitely stay here again!
Nothing I did not like.

Friendly, homely and welcoming. Excellent breakfast.
Lack of tea/coffee making facilities. Coffee machine had 2 pods per day. Not enough.
