Wow! What a location - simply magical
The hotel is situated slightly up the hill in Grindelwald, however the hotel offer a shuttle service (free) and also bus tickets (free) to help with getting around.
That hotel was warm and staff were very friendly. The food was AMAZING, we stayed with the HB option and have to say for an4* hotel the food was incredible.
Hotel was clean and offered reasonable EV parking facilities. With a choice of 2 restaurants on site and same spa facilities, just made our stay that bit more special.
Only 1 x EV charging point (I’m really struggling to give a negative)
Also the hill to the hotel is not for the faint hearted, but the views make up for this!

All our meals were excellent—breakfast, dinner in both dining rooms and outdoors, cocktails
Transportation to and from town. The walk from the last bus stop is quite steep, and I would have expected the hotel to provide van service to town in addition to train station or Eiger lift.

The staff was great! The staff spoke numerous languages. The breakfast had good variety. Lovely views from the balcony.
Long walk to the town...had to go up a steep hill. The busses stop working early. The room was very tight after the addition of 2 fold out beds. No air conditioning.

Perfect location in a beautiful part of the world. The hotel is well situated near the town with a tremendous history. Views of the mountains in all directions are stunning.
Too much salt was included in many of the dinner meals. Could have been personally added later if required.

In summer the weather gets hot sometimes, therefore air conditioning would be nice to be available

Good location and view. Good quality of furniture
Disappointing Experience Despite Good Furniture and Location
The hotel has good quality furniture and is well-established in a nice location on a small hill. That’s really the only positive point I can highlight, as our overall experience was quite disappointing due to several issues:
1. Challenging Access with Luggage:
Although the hotel is located in a scenic spot, it’s a 15–20 minute uphill walk from the bus station. If you’re carrying luggage, especially with family, it’s extremely tiring. The hotel does not offer any transport service to or from the station, so unless you have your own car, be prepared for a strenuous climb.
2. Unwelcoming Check-in Experience:
We arrived exhausted and sweating after a long walk, even though the weather was cool. No water or assistance was offered. I was asked to fill in all the personal details for my entire family on a tablet by myself, despite clearly needing help. The receptionist refused to assist, so my family had to step in. This was very disappointing and not the warm welcome we hoped for.
3. Unfriendly Staff:
The staff were cold, serious, and didn’t smile at all. It felt as though we were inconveniencing them, not the other way around. The atmosphere was tense and unwelcoming.
4. Lack of Basic Amenities:
No slippers, toothbrushes, or coffee were provided in the room unless paid for.
5. Misleading “Complimentary” Coffee Break:
They advertised a daily free coffee and cake break from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. However, the cake was not fresh, and the coffee was not complimentary—it had to be paid for.
6. Misleading Booking Availability:
The hotel appeared almost empty during our stay, yet it was marked as “sold out” on booking platforms. The next day, they would post discounted offers and repeat the same “sold out” message again.
7. Unpleasant Surroundings:
At night, there was often a strong odor from nearby cows.

The view from the hotel was breathtaking from all sides. A special thanks to Mrs Brawand, the owner, for being everywhere at the same time and managing to make all guests feel special. The staff are very friendly, well trained and service oriented. I enjoyed the food in the restaurant.
I was a bit puzzled by the absence of a door in the bathroom area of my room

Wow! Wow! Wow! If you go to Grindelwald, this is the place to stay. It is a family owned business and has a warm feeling to it. The place has the old style feel but inside your room it is all modern amenities, so it is not outdated. Breakfast was so beautiful looking at the mountains.

Parking is free, and the location is very convenient to all the popular destinations.
room does not have AC, have to open windows to sleep at night; which caused another problem: sound insulation is only so so: you can hear people chatting at the balcony in the early morning.

The view from the terrace and our room was spectacular! We ate dinner in the hotel every night because it was good and easy after a long day of hiking.

We booked the Junior Suite Deluxe. It was spacious with warm traditional alpine decor, impeccably clean and had welcome snacks and drinks. The room was comfortable in every way but the best part was the magnificent mountain view from the balcony - it was truly breathtaking! The balcony was large - a really great size with a table, chairs and two sun loungers so it was perfect for relaxing in your own personal outdoor space.
The hotel is situated a short distance away from the main street on a hill, in very serene and scenic surroundings. Check in/out was swift and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel provides a visitors card which enables free use of local buses and offers some discounts on local attractions, they also provide free parking and a shuttle to the train station if needed but honestly if you can manage the walk to the shops/station ( on a narrow, tarred, undulating path) then go for it - as it was such a scenic walk it was an absolute pleasure to do! Breakfast was good - a variety of items - in particular the bread and local butter was amazing! Every afternoon there was a lovely cake buffet included in the stay - drinks ordered were extra. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back here again in the future.
There was no kettle in the room, but it can be requested at reception - we managed to get one on the second day of our stay - so all good

Amazing landscape...great skiing area.
Hotel located in quiet area but still walking distance to center. Nice view because located uphill.
Service. We did not feel welcomed, arrogant stuff.
I have been living in switzerland zurich for 10 years, been to skiing holidays since i am 3 years old and know how to be polite as i do work with ppl in my job as well. But i have rarely seen such arrogant and unfriendly staff.
You can hear your neighbours walking and talking, but that is to be expected. Temperature of the room way too warm.
