The hotel was the best iveever stayed in lovely rooms very clean it had a lovely garden the hotel was by the beach the breakfast was great the staff couldnt do enough for you

A comfortable hotel, good value, only a short walk from the harbour area.

Breakfast was good, and dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. There was a good-sized lounge for guests , and a large garden

The staff were friendly

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, the food was excellent but a bit too much if you had the cheese and biscuits! Lovely walk in shower, that's coming from someone who hates showers!

The duvet! I hate them! We wanted a room on the ground floor which we had. I was disappointed that we had to pay for an upgrade. When I booked it I had an ordinary room upstairs but when we checked out there was an addition for the room change that we had not been notified about. As the room was very dark,felt cold and the window was draughty it shoild have been a down grade!

I enjoyed my stay with the main highlight being the excellent cuisine.

The meals were superb. The hotel grounds are very attractive. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel is comfortable and relaxing.

No lift, so may be an issue for guests for some guests. The hotel is in an elevated location from the town centre, so something of a climb for guests on foot.

Relaxed vacation within easy reach of the beach.

Quiet location a lovely garden with plenty of seating non-smoking areas (though someone didn’t think it applied to vaping) signs stating No Smoking Here should be updated to include Vaping also. Apart from that incident the three days relaxing at the Hotel Balmoral were idyllic. There is a bus stop outside the hotel driveway with regular service to Torquay Harbour. Across the road the Hotel Osborne is located above Meadfoot Sea Road Beach and is welcoming to non-residents lovely terraces with cafe bar a more lively situation with beautiful views. Along the beach is a flat footpath approximately 1 kilometre which makes a nice promenade after breakfast.

Garden is above the road and some noise but not too intrusive the surrounding trees and birds more than make up for the traffic noise which is not continuous.

Bedroom was a bit small with a view of a wall and a flat roof. The shower space was tiny and the water hard to regulate. Not enough to detract from the overall experience though.

Excellent stay, great location, great food, I will be staying there again…

Location was excellent, 3min to the beach and cafe to the right when you walk out the hotel and 10min walk to Torquay town centre turning left from the hotel, with a bus stop just out side if you wanted to save yourself on the walk to town centre. Host was wonderful and very friendly, staff was impeccable, food was excellent and a different menu every evening, if you wanted a bit of peace and quiet then the gardens around the back were the perfect place to relax. I can’t fault the hotel excellent and would urge anyone wanting to spend a few days in Torquay to stay there…

My room was a little too small for myself but I was travelling solo and I’m used to a larger room.

Stayed for weekend in August, I’m not a moaner, but there were a few little things, there was no air conditioning or fan

Very short bus ride to town

No air conditioning or fan, room was too warm, no mini fridge, no sockets near the bed to charge phones, stain in the shower tray, no cup or glass to rinse mouth in the bathroom, tv didn’t work properly, doors were ill fitted had to slam to close.

A family run Hotel Excellent service

As the bedroom we had booked Basic double room verry small and due to the hot weather we asked if there was a larger room available ,as we were there for a few days transfered the next morning to up graded room .

Fantastic location, wonderful staff, great food, near quiet beach -worth repeat visits.

Very comfortable room, fan available if in a heatwave! A good selection of items for Breakfast, both as self serve and as ordered. Dinner menus, changing each evening were wonderful - difficult to choose which to order if only there for two nights. Service exemplary and chef is always to make little changes if you require. Beautiful garden with a good choice of seats/tables/recliners etc.

Could hear music from breakfast and dining room at 7.30am and after 10.00 in the evening It was hot so all the windows were open so would recomend it is played at a lower volume then, as I would expect you do not hear it when the double glazing is shut.

Excellent hotel in very quiet surrondings.

Freindly, polite and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Very clean hotel throughout. The food was excellent, with a varied choice for breakfast and dinner.

We had a cosy room which is all that was offered in booking.com. It could be that other larger rooms were fully booked or simply that the hotel does not sell larger through booking.com. The cosy room did not have a dessing table and the window was very small. Compact would be a better way to descibe the room. No lift to upper floors. We would have preferred a walk-in shower.

Claustrophobic room stay.

Location was good but not in walking distance of main town . Nice garden for relaxing and having tea.

Parking limited. No lift to upper floors so had to walk up two flights of staircases. Room 12 was very small ,with one small restricted window that had obscuard window glass that only opened 6 inches and looked out onto a small inner roof top with no outer view. In the rooftop area was a large industrial kitchen extractor fan and Exhaust pipe vent that was very noisy when the kitchen were in use . The weather was a very hot 22'c and the room had no natural air flow and the bathroom was on the inner walls so had no out side window to open . The room was stifling and hot at night . Flooring was loose so was very noisy when walking about the room. Room had two electric socket with an extension lead fixed to the small table top next to the kettle. Not a good idea. No sockets next to bed . Room would have been more suitable as a storage room . Asked to be moved to another room but was told that it was not possible and I was given an electric fan . Fan just blew warm air around the small very hot room . Don't have room 12 in the summer months .

Lovely place for a quiet stay for over 50s.

Found the lady at the Reception desk really warm and friendly + obliging with any extras. Meals were excellent...both breakfast and dinners. The entire place had a homely atmosphere as well as effective running of things. Adequate parking and lovely garden area to enjoy outside.

I really cannot think of anything negative to say.
