Genuinely best stay I’ve had! From the moment I arrived, Kim was there to welcome me warmly, providing fresh milk! In the room slippers, a bathrobe, and every toiletry you could possibly need was available. Not a thing I needed was not found! Although I hadn’t yet met Trevor, he greeted me by name the moment I entered the breakfast room, which was such a lovely personal touch. Breakfast was wonderful with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. When I was leaving, Trevor made a point of telling Kim, who came to see me off. Kim recognised the heat of the day and my upcoming journey, kindly offering me water to take with me – such thoughtful hospitality. The location was perfect for my needs, with free parking available and just a pleasant 15-minute walk to the main bar area. My only small note would be that if you’re over 6ft, you might want to request a room that isn’t on the top floor, as some ceiling areas are lower. At 5'11", I managed just fine. And I have to give huge praise for the bed – the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in while away. I was out like a light! I will be back!

Perfect spot to stay in Torquay

A wonderful place to stay a short walk from the seafront and the train station. We were visiting for Electric Bay festival, and this was a perfect location. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. The breakfast was really delicious, and the owners were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

This was an absolutely perfect place for us to stay for overnight visit to Torquay. Short walk to beach was ideal. Kim and Trevor made us feel very welcome, and were able to provide us with a very early breakfast, which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.

Overall a very nice stay

The location was quiet and the room was comfortable. The owners are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very nice. There was also plenty of parking. Everything in the hotel was immaculately kept and tidy, with everything in its place. The location is very convenient for the railway station.

There is not much to say as it is a lovely place to stay. The location is a bit out of the main town (which also has the advantage of being quiet) but it is only a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk along the sea front to get to the very centre where the harbour is.

Lovely old style property, set back out the way, a lovely location, but not far from the main town, lovely room, comfortable bed, very quiet which was very nice. Amazing bath. Wonderful food and truly pleasant host’s Kim and trav lovely people. Highly recommended.

This place is the most immaculate B&B we have ever stayed at in 37 years of traveling. The hosts Kim & Trevor could not be any more welcoming. There is nothing you will need that is not already provided. If you are in Torquay this is the best place to stay. We will most definitely be back.

Excellent location, excellent service, great hosts, comfortable bed, well-appointed room, could have asked for a better accommodation. Also very close to the beach with a scenic stroll through the grounds of the old Abbey.

The stairs might be a challenge for some, but we packed light and had no problems.

Exceptional hosts and fabulous hotel

Before I arrived Trevor called me to confirm my arrival time and to ensure I knew where to go to find the hotel; a lovely personal touch. The moment I arrived I felt welcomed. The house feels inviting and homely. My room was very comfortable and exceptionally clear. The bathroom was spotless too. Elmdene do not provide evening meals but they made sure I had plenty of options to chose from and gave me directions on how to get there. My bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. Breakfast was excellent. With a continental and full breakfast options available. The quality of the breakfast was very good also. Coffee was great. Trever went above and beyond in the morning and drove me to my meeting location. What a fantastic service. Thank you. I have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and I have no hesitation in recommending Elmdene to friends and family. One of the very best. I'll be back.
