Room was very comfortable and nicely, rather plushly, decorated. The host was very friendly, offering us coffee/tea when we arrived and happily advised on the local area, as we sat chatting in the nice sitting room.
The location is very convenient for the train station, and is just a few minutes walk from Torre Abbey, which was perfect
En-suite bathroom was not at all bad, but its old origins showed so it felt less luxurious than the room, though perfectly adequate.
The English breakfast part of breakfast was a bit basic, especially as the vegetarian option was to just take out the sausages. But with good yoghurt and fruit (as well as some breakfast cereals), I did not go hungry!

It had a very personalised feel. The host made you feel like you were coming into her home
The shower was appalling. The water literally dribbled out the shower head. There was also the previous guest’s nighty left on the back of the bathroom door. No iron or ironing board either and it was meant to be 4*

A lovely hotel in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of Torquay seafront and gardens. Lots of pubs and restaurants withing easy walking distance too. The room was small but roomy enough to be comfortable, immaculately clean and had nice thoughtful touches like fresh bottle of water, chocolate bars with the tea and coffee making stuff, nice shower gel and handwash. It was light and airy, and very pleasant to be in. We were at the front of the hotel, with a lovely view over the cricket ground. Breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Starting with yogurt, honey and fresh fruit, then a range of cereal choices finishing with something cooked - choice examples included full English (sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms), scrambled eggs and mushrooms, avocado, toast. Host Jessie was very very welcoming, she even sat with us on arrival for a cuppa in the living room after our long drive down. On our last day, we left before breakfast, so Jessie packed us up a travel bag of fresh fruit and chocolate bars! All in all, a really lovely stay.
There was nothing major we didn't like. A niggle if the hotel is full could be the parking - there are 4 spaces marked out, but I'd say only 3 in reality due to the tight turning circle, which with 7 rooms could be tricky. However, on-street parking is plentiful. Apart from that, everything was as we hoped it would be.

Great breakfast - yoghurt & fruit, cereal, full english and more if you wanted; also breakfast was served rather than a buffet which was a pleasant surprise. Jessie was a great host and very amenable to change the menu to suit her guests. Also a really good location - the Abbey is a few minutes walk, the seafront a couple of minutes more; and (as I decided to take the train this time) Torquay station was 6 or 7 minutes walking distance.
Not much; but if I'm searching for faults - the water pressure in my shower was a bit low - it was adequate for my two night stay, but may have become irritating over a longer period.

The hostess was very obliging and very good breakfast
This was advertised as having a bath when we got there in the evening it was a shower so not at all happy, so eventually Jessie let us have a room she does not normally let out which was inferior to what we paid for, the room was cold and the door to the bathroom from the bedroom would not shut, and every morning we had to wash in tepid water, but we did have the bath which is most important as my husband is a war veteran losing a leg in the Falklands, hence needing the bath and the bed was comfy. But Booking. Com really do need to say whether it is a bath or shower.

Very friendly greeting by David, with coffee and chocolate bar. Jessie was also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really tasty. Stayed in Junior suite. Bed very comfy and rooms had plenty of electric sockets.
Shower could have been a bit more powerful.

The rooms were clean and breakfast was great.
There was a water leak from an above bedroom that awoke us early on the first morning and we had to then get the property owner to provide a bucket to prevent flooding the room. As repairs were not possible, and no other rooms available, we had to live with a bucket full of smelly water in our room for the remainder of our 2 day stay. Also, the check out time is very strictly enforced, we were threatened with additional charges if we stayed more than 10 minutes passed the check out time of 10am.
