A comfortable stay with warm and welcoming owners.

It was clean and tidy, and the owners were friendly and welcoming and gave me some good tips about restaurants etc, and were keen to make sure I enjoyed my stay with them.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts Jo and Darren. We arrived early and checked in. We were shown the room which wasn’t quite ready but was given the key so that we could go out and about. The room was large and spacious and spotlessly clean. The fridge was supplied with fresh milk and there were 2 bottles of water. There was also coffee and tea making facilities though we didn’t make use of this during our stay. There was ample wardrobe space with plenty of hangers. The bathroom and shower were spacious. The bed was very large and has to be the best we’ve ever slept in at a B&B. We liked that there was a breakfast menu to complete for the following day so you could select your breakfast items and how many you wanted of each item, also how you liked your eggs ie fried, scrambled or poached. We were there for a birthday celebration and they went the extra mile by getting a card for my partner and also a muffin cake with a candle. Jo and Darren took time to chat with us and get to know us and gave the personal touch. Nothing was too much trouble and our stay felt very special. There was the added bonus of onsite parking and only a 10 minute walk to the seafront which was flat.

Stay was perfect and we enjoyed everything that was provided.

Location was great for visiting the centre of Torquay. Room was excellent, large and well decorated. Everything you could wish for in the room as well. Jo and Darren were great hosts and the breakfast was fabulous, with great choices. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Disappointing

The hosts were lovely and helpful. The room was extremely clean.

The bed was uncomfortable the first night, making it difficult to sleep. The second night, the people in the room next to us were presumably drunk fighting, doors banging, shouting all night. We didn't get any sleep.We decided to leave early the next morning and not stay for the length of our booking. We spoke to Darren when we checked out, and he said he would have a word with room 7. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be any use to us as we were checking out early because of it. This action did not appear to match the strict guest rules that came in a beautifully presented folder. Not only did we lose sleep, but we also lost the money paid for the final night.

The owners Jo & Darren were warm and welcoming. The room and facilities were excellent with a few home comforts. The breakfast was of good quality with fresh ingredients. Within a short walk to the sea and train station with lots to do in the area.

Fantastic place, great location, off road parking and the best breakfast ever!

The hosts Darren and Jo are very accommodating, we checked in late due to traffic congestion and they were there to check us in. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The location is perfect for a base in the area and Jo gave us some great ideas for our short stay and recommendations on where to eat! Strongly recommended this place if you are visiting Torquay.

Lovely place to stay

This hotel is in a great location, just a 5 to 10 minute stroll into the centre of Torquay.The hosts are really welcoming and friendly and give great advice on places to visit and eat, etc. The rooms are spotless, and the breakfast is delicious

Imposing property located around 20 min walk from the town centre. Good parking.Jo our host was friendly and welcoming. Our room 3 was extremely comfortable including the large bed with water and fresh milk provided. Breakfast offered plenty of choice and was excellent. Would we stay again? Most certainly!

The reason why local businesses are the right choice!

I had the room downstairs and it room was lovely with a giant bed, nice shower, so many treats in the room and how clean it was. It’s also super safe for a solo traveller with good security and parking on the drive or a short trip to the train station. Jo and Darren were super responsive beforehand and have lots of breakfast options from continental, a lovely fruit salad to a full cooked breakfast (yes definitely ask for the black pudding). They also offer a 4 course dinner but can give you so many local recommendations and everything is in walking distance. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone visiting!

Lovely friendly b&b Good value for money

We stayed for two nights at Edgcombe. Nice welcome from Jo and Darren who own the guesthouse. They were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a ground floor room with a large bed. Everything was spotless. Lots of little extra touches like tissues, pasteurised milk in the fridge, little jar of toffees, biscuits and a Nespresso coffee maker. Breakfast was very good. You choose what you want the night before. It’s within easy reach of two railway stations and a 10/15min walk to the sea front and restaurants. Parking outside the property.

Great location easy to find and park, great breakfast, Jo and Darren are very good hosts very welcoming and friendly. Nice rooms fantastic jucuzzi bath great for relaxing after walking around Torquay. Would stay again.

A nice relaxed place to spend a few days break.

This was a nice guest house in a good location to explore the Torbay area. It has good parking and a nice little bar & lounge area. The room was quite big and had everything needed. The breakfasts were lovely and set us up for the day. The owners were very friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere.

The bathroom was very small and quite a squeeze especially in the shower. We had a room at the front which was on quite a busy main road. It was ok with the window shut but could get noisy if you had to open them which, as the room was quite warm, you would probably need to do in the summer. A fan was provided in the room to overcome this.

The guest house was very well maintained and clean and tidy throughout. The owners were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and throughout our stay. The room we good sized and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and perfectly cooked. Plenty of parking space outside the property and access was super easy.

Excellent accommodation and Hosts

Darren and Joanne were absolutely superb hosts. Friendly, flexible and accommodating in all aspects during my four night stay. Huge, comfortable bed and decent shower. Plenty of storage and power sockets in my room. Small fridge was a bonus. Floor standing fan supplied. Plenty of off-street parking. Breakfast was good quality and freshly cooked to order. Nice little bar area and guest lounge.

Would like to have stayed longer. . . . lol.
