I would recommend this hotel to all that asked.

I enjoyed the personal welcome to the hotel. The allocated room was spacious, as was the bathroom, which added to the hotel experience. The breakfast was a full English, but could be tailored to individuals' needs. The bar, accessible in the evening, has a great stock of different ciders and lagers, so I was more than happy.

A great place to stay for a trip to Torquay!

Lee was great to deal with and couldn't have been more helpful in making our stay a good one. From waiting up for us after a delayed train on our first night to arranging to look after our luggage on our last day. The breakfast was superb and a great way to start the day - plenty of options too. The room (we were upgraded to a huge room with four-poster bed) was spotlessly clean as was the large en-suite bathroom with bath and rainfall shower. The perfect base for a trip to the English Riviera.

First class hotel in a good location

The hotel exceeded all of our expectations. A special jewel on the English coast. It is conveniently located close to the train station, but also to the beach promenade. Our room with the ancient four-poster bed was so beautiful that you wouldn't really want to share it with anyone else. The bathroom is very large, clean and modern. The hotel owners were hospitable and always in a good mood. They always responded to individual wishes. We can warmly recommend this hotel.

Excellent stay

Lee and Karen were wonderful hosts nothing was too much trouble. Had a fab 4 poster room. Breakfast was exceptional even Karen's poached eggs were perfect, and the optional evening meal was homecooked to a very high standard. Lovely guests staying the same time as we did. Central and easy walking distant (even though it was on a incline)to all amenities. Plenty of parking spaces. We would award them "Four in a bed" winners 🏆 👏 😄😁

Relaxing stay at a gorgeous hotel.

Gorgeous boutique hotel. We got a complementary room upgrade, which was fabulous. Our upgraded room had the most amazing en-suite bathroom. the hosts Karen and Ian were welcoming and friendly. As we stayed over the Easter weekend, we were left surprise Easter eggs on our pillows, which was a lovely, thoughtful touch. I would highly recommend a stay at The Westgate and will definitely be staying again whenever we re-visit Torquay.

Best place to stay in Torquay.

A+, 5 star! We stayed at two other guesthouse on this road, but this was the best! The whole property was refurbished, very modern, great food, great view, good parking, nice and friendly stuff, we cannot fault anything to be honest. We would pay for this place any time. We are coming back here for sure. :)

The bathroom in our room (room 11) was very small. If we had been any less able, it would have been unusable.

Great property, good location, tasty breakfast and excellent hosts.

The host couple were welcoming, friendly and hospitable. Nothing was too much for them, Lee even repaired one of our bikes without us even asking. The room was modern, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. The location was good, close to the seafront and parking was easy.

There was nothing really to dislike about this property it was great.

Central location,bright,clean. Karen and Lee were the perfect hosts,nothing was to much trouble for them. Made us feel very welcome,showed us to our room,which was amazing,tea/coffee making facilities. We even had a fan in the room because of the heatwave. We had a full cooked breakfast every day,although you could have whatever you wanted.. I would 100% recommended anyone staying here. We can’t wait to go back

Our stay was cosy, quiet and fun. We look forward to visiting again!

The property from the outside/in was lovely compared to many others around the area. The inside of the Guest House was beautifully decorated and very inviting as soon as we stepped through the door. The room was cosy and we had such a great sleep in the comfortable double bed, the carpets looked new and breakfast was lovely with a good selection on the menu! There are two different directions to walk down to the beach and town, depending on your walking pace it can take up to 10 minutes to reach the beach, however both directions are scenic and the walk along the harbour has plenty to stop and look at along the way. The Guest House owners Lee and his Mum are really nice and very accommodating. Although the Guest House had other guests staying, you would not have known as you could not hear a pin drop throughout our stay. It was our first time in Torquay and we look forward to visiting it again, and most definitely will be looking to stay at The Westgate.

Between the two of us (mother and daughter) we can not fault anything at the Westgate.

Absolutely awesome stay at the Westgate, nothing was too much trouble for Karen and Lee. The food was excellent, the Rooms were comfortable, some nice touches were bathrobes, biscuits, tea and coffee, bottled water.

There is nothing we didn't like about the Westgate.

Everything. The location, just a few minutes walk from the train station & near bus stops to everywhere. The Westgate itself is very relaxing & comfortable , mainly due to Lee & Karen being so welcoming - they went above and beyond anyones expectations. Great room, lovely food & plenty of it. nothing at all really. There could have been a little more explanation about functional things like curtain pulls and the new shower - for the guest - just to avoid any confusion when being shown the room and the facilities … or leave some written explanations in the room.

A week we shall never forget.

The location was perfect for the beach and the town. The breakfast was fantastic and always hot, with plenty of it , we did not leave the table hungry. We got a lovely warm welcome from Karen, and Lee was kind enough to take our bags to our room. We were upgraded to a newly refurbished room (at no extra charge) which was just super lush, with a four poster bed, lovely furniture and a bathroom to die for, we felt like we had won the lottery.

We can honestly say there was nothing we did not like apart from the weather and giving the key back to the room, we just did not want to leave.

Excellent - was perfect location for the event we were attending - hosts extremely friendly.

Breakfast was excellent - always freshly cooked and hot, and very tasty. Good selection of cereals to start then we had the full english breakfast. Room was comfy and spotlessly clean, and the shower over the bath was superb. The TV in the room was also one of the better ones than we have previously had. Also on site parking for our motorcycles.

Great holiday

The owners gave us a very warm welcome. Our room was very clean and comfortable and newly decorated plus modern furniture. The location was very close to bus stops in and out of Torquay which saved using our car. Free parking at the property. Lovely breakfasts and an evening meal available if you needed it. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend!
