OK for a one night getaway.
Central hotel and value for money.
You have to remember this is an old hotel/pub/building. The bedrooms weren't very modern and in need of an upgrade. The top floor room didn't have a radiator, just a plug in oil radiator not the best for January! Bathroom was freezing.

Enjoyable stay, would recommend
Read previous mixed reviews, yes the decor was a little tired looking but it is an old pub well used by walkers with their dogs. We found the room clean, bed comfortable with a good sized ensuite bathroom. Plenty of tea and coffee provided. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a good breakfast at a small extra charge. We would stay there again

Brilliant central situation, warm comfortable room.
Location excellent. Room very comfortable and warm with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. It was a bit disconcerting to come down at 8.00 am next morning find the place dark and deserted. Nonetheless the front door did open easily. It might be worth warning visitors about this.
See above. Also I didn’t very much like coming in the back at about 10.00 pm but it was well signed and the door open easily without needing a code so all was well. It felt a bit deserted. I would also have liked a noon check in, though the terms were very clear and my room was ready before the stated time.

Ok for one night.
Breakfast was help yourself to tea / coffee, no decaf options, no juice, no cereals. Options were fried breakfast in varying forms or American pancakes.
Communication - meals had to be paid for at the time of eating and were not allowed to be added to the end invoice. Check-in / check-out had to be on line, no physical interaction with staff.
