Relaxing overnight stay at The Chocolate Box

We received a very friendly greeting on arrival and were shown to our room. We had everything we needed, plenty of tea and coffee supplies after our long journey. The shower worked well and the bed was very comfortable. The location is great, very close to the BIC which we were going to in the evening for a show; it only took us a couple of minutes walk, so was perfect.

Spotlessly clean and nice comfy beds and not a bad size room and nice and quiet. Good location to BIC, just a five minute walk. Had parking.

Apart from seeing someone for half a minute on arrival didn’t see anyone else. Couldn’t get shower working to a bearable heat and no one there to ask so had to go without. Thought we were getting chocolates in room and not a sign of one. Would have been nice to have breakfast.

The cleanliness of room and the location. I called as no heating and couldn’t get aircon to work. Lady explained how it worked over phone. Later called to property to check everything ok

Nice, clean, comfy room. Lots of side space and good amount of hangers. Toiletries in bathroom, nice hot shower. Brilliant location. Nice to have free parking (6 spaces/12 rooms). Easy check in process. Twin room accommodated rather than double.

It would be nicer to have more plugs by the bed heads at mid height rather than on the floor, room 2.

Wouldn’t stay again

Ideal location

Paid £60 on a deal from £100. Would have not been happy paying £100. Bathroom not attached to room. No staff about. Had to call because our pin didn’t work. Poor shower. No water the next morning tried calling texting no reply. Room very small

- Easy check in - Very clean and comfy beds, pillows. - Options for heating or air con

- Zero staff presence, building isn't manned overnight if at all. - someone tried my door handles several times at 4am. No bolt lock or contact to report concerns to. Far from ideal as solo female guests. - Smell of Cannabis on the second floor - Continuous repetitive automated emails from the second of booking - I wouldnt describe this as a hotel or b&b.. more a temporary accommodation holding? - Someone's post at the front door..

Basic but clean, in good location to the town and the BIC centre

Entrance code sent via SMS on day of arrival. Code works when it’s the arrival time and not before. It lets you in to the main property and same code to the room. Room was comfortable, beds very comfy. Bathroom was ok - but shower had zero pressure, but was hot, eventually. Room was lovely and warm. Location was good. Didn’t see any staff.

Perfect, value for money and right by the BIC

So convenient, location wise, beds were amazingly comfortable and bedding great quality. Bathroom clean with soft towels, hand and shower wash. Tea and coffee in room. Excellent value for money.

Gaining entry was quite tricky, didn’t realise the pin would be in an additional email, my error. Otherwise was all brilliant!

A nice get away with plenty of useful amenities close to the hotel.

The location was good very good for what we wanted. Parking was good. The room was very well cleaned.

There was no staff available at all. The heating was a bit much for our liking. The bathroom was separate from the main room which was a bit of an inconvenience.

All automated. No staff. No reception. No bar or restaurant. No hot radiator or hot water. Couldn’t even call reception because there wasn’t one. Dreadful experience 😡

The location was perfect for BIC

Well the room was sooo small. No chair bed too soft to sit on. The doors noisy to open and close especially as our bathroom was across the landing. (Which we knew would be the case) The bathroom was freezing. Draught coming in ill fitted window No where to put hand towel after using. No shelves. Very impractical

OK but not good value for money.

It was clean. At nighttime it was quiet and dark. In the back yard there was a wonderful dog that wanted to play with it's toy.

I could not switch the radiator on. The knob was detatched. I could not put the stopper down in the basin, it kept springing up. The toilet did not flush very well. I sent them a message about this and did not get a reply. I was surprised that there was no staff there. The ensuite bathroom was very tiny.

Disappointed

Location

Having no staff to service the room was not good considering we were the only guests for 2 nights and there was only 1 other couple for 1 night. We ran out of toilet paper, not enough milk left to make coffee each morning, had to use same towels for 3 nights . No discount offered for no service to rooms. Have been coming here for years but will now not return.

Lovely, clean and comfortable hotel.

The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. A huge bonus having air con as it was very hot when we stayed. Plenty of tea/coffee available. Great location, short walk to centre, beach etc.

Expensive for a room only stay but probably par for the course.

The room was fine, the bed comfortable, the shower/ toilet adequate.

Our room (#2) is only a few metres across the entrance hall from the main door into the house. That means that anyone coming in at whatever time of the night will open the door noisily and slam it shut, continuing their noisy conversation past the room and up the stairs. Not conducive to having a good night’s sleep.

Lovely in the end

Excellent location, close to beach and handy local shops and restaurants next door

No staff present so issues at check were hard to resolve. When I got into my room there was no mattress on the bed and repairs were being done. The numbers I called from the door sticker were either unavailable or not associated with the hotel which was disconcerting. In the end I got through to someone who changed my room to a better one. The new room was lovely, apart from the toilet which had brown water in it.

Comfortable stay

The guest house was in a good location despite the steep hill. Was clean and presentable. Was quiet and slept well. Air-conditioning was great....so great it got so cold had to turn it off couple of times haha. For a small room it had a good number of sockets surprisingly. Convenient store across the road. On site staff kindly let my partner park his bike behind their bin for reassurance.

Our room (11) was at the top of the building so there were number of flights of stairs with no lift. Bathroom was opposite our room on landing which inconvenient especially at night when needing the loo. Shower temperature took a while to heat up.
