Reasonable value for money. Good food and atmosphere

Nicely decorated although it needs redoing in places. There’s lots of scuff marks on the walls in the hallways and in our room

The coffee cups are far too small for the coffee machine! The shower didn’t hold its heat and had a leak at part of the fittings. Some of the staff were a bit short in their manner and the one serving at breakfast was a bit useless

Comfortable stay in ideal location.

Comfortable room with good facilities, in ideal location for us as we were visiting family. We were warmly welcomed by staff and shown to room. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, coffee also very good.

Great pub and hotel with lovely dinner and breakfast, friendly staff.

Lovely hotel and pub with great food, large room and en-suite with great heating. Lovely staff and included free breakfast which was excellent. Dinner in the evening was also very good with lovely wine.

A small desk or table would have been handy to rest a laptop on, it was a very large room with plenty of space for a desk. Only 4 parking spaces in the hotel car park.

Room facing the road with huge window. Meant when in bed / getting changed needed to have the blind shut or people can see in. It would be good to have a privacy blind or curtains to let light in but remain private.

Comfortable and clean

Staff were lovely. Very professional and friendly, particularly the lady who served our breakfast. Excellent value for money and great breakfast included. Room was very clean spacious and comfortable. Nice bar too.

Only reason I scored 9 (not 10) was because there is only a very small carpark. Parked up the road but with a car full ready for ferry next day we would have preferred secure parking. Not sure if hotel can do anything about that though. Maybe reserve parking for hotel guests only? Other than this hotel is perfect.

Beautiful room, friendly staff, delicious breakfast

Room was so nice and clean. Bathroom was immaculate. I was informed upon arrival that breakfast was included which was a nice surprise, and the food was delicious. The water and coffee station in the room was a really nice touch. The room felt very put-together.

Parking is fairly non-existent, but they don't advertise parking so I wasn't surprised by that really. There is a teeny tiny car park out the back, but be warned if you wanted to check it out for a space then it's a very tight alley to drive through, and if car park is full then there's nowhere to turn around to exit, so you need to be very confident with the size of your car! I ended up parking up the road on a residential street.

Second visit, would definitely return

Location, tidy room with lovely finishings, cosy

We arrived at around 1pm and the pub was fairly empty, a few drinkers at the bar and a couple of tables sat. The general manager told us he was really busy at the moment and that check in was at 2pm. We went away and came back around 4/5pm and the pub was far busier and tables were occupied - I do feel it would have made more sense for the GM to give us a slightly earlier check in at 1pm rather than rushing our check in during peak service times for the pub.

Very Friendly and excellent value for money

We welcomed by a very friendly, polite and very efficient member of staff. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast that was included with the room was exceptional. We will be staying again.

A lovely place to stay would highly recommend and we will definitely come back and stay there again.

Staff were really friendly and the Ox was really good value. The food served for both Lunch and Dinner was excellent quality and large portions were given each time. The area is great plenty of bars and restaurants to visit but ended up staying at the Ox for dinner as there was a large group of us all staying at the hotel. Their dining area is really big and comfortable I would highly recommend. The room was very clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay great value with the breakfast included.

The only thing to mention was the step at end of the bar is not well marked. During our time on the Saturday 3 people including me fell down the step. Luckily for me the member of staff caught me and saved me from falling to the floor. I would suggest the Ox get a carpenter in to make it into a gradual ramp rather than a step. A lady later in the evening really hurt her ankle, bar staff had to give her a chair and ice after the fall. It looked like they were coming to the restaurant as a group of four for dinner and sadly had to leave after the accident, such a shame to get hurt just coming for an evening out. I am surprised no one has claimed yet against the pub owners.

There was no chairs to sit on except the bed. Apart from that, all was very good, including the staff who were very polite, friendly and respectful. Bed, bedding was clean, fresh and comfortable

OK’ish. The food in the restaurant was good and the staff working in the Bar and Restaurant were fine.

Recently renovated to a good standard.

The steep stairs to the second floor. I asked to be changed to a room on the first floor, but was told NO. I’m 81 years old with a back problem, so this was difficult. Also the room was only serviced on 1 of the 4 nights I stayed there. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE .

Staff were very nice & helpful, breakfast was included in price which we didn’t know at time of booking so that was nice surprise and it was exceptional!! Very good value, been refurbished, wish I’d taken names of staff but if I say the 2 at breakfast were so nice, couldn’t do enough for us they’ll know who they are, thank you

Place spotless staff were excellent shame about the music

The property was clean. The food was very good and the staff couldn’t have been better.

We arrived on a Saturday and told that the pub shut at 11 o’clock, but there was music that we could hear in the room until 1 o’clock

Comfortable, great value for money and tasty breakfast.

The Ox was excellent value for money and in a great location. The room was immaculately clean and the staff couldn't do enough to help us and were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and included in the cost which was again great value! We will definitely be back.

The hotel is very new and there were a few teething issues, but nothing major, no bins in the rooms, little hand towels needed and the coffee pods were for tall not short cups, plus we only had three pillows on a double bed and the TV wouldn't turn on. None of this would deter us from staying again and we didn't anything say until the morning, I'm sure if we had, it would have been rectified quickly!

Très bon rapport qualité prix

Bien situé pour prendre le ferry de bon heure. Ambiance sympathique avec le pub animé situé juste en dessous. Les chambres sont confortables et de bonne taille. Le dîner au pub était très bon et les prix plus que corrects. Nous n'avons malheureusement pas pu tester le petit déjeuner compte tenu de notre départ de bon heure le matin. Globalement, très bon rapport qualité prix.

Chambres rénovées et confortables mais dommage que la moquette claire soit déjà tachée. Pas mal de bruit dans les chambres situées au dessus du pub mais il fallait s'y attendre pour un vendredi soir.
