Loved the breakfast facilities provided in the communal kitchen. I think we were the only residents on this particular day and it was extremely quiet. The bedroom was cosy and the bed was very comfortable and we were very happy with our stay in
Room 5. Very convenient parking close by.

I checked out the breakfast, there were plenty of choices, you could help yourself to fresh milk for your room. Microwave available if you wanted something warm, very clean kitchen.

Cleanliness and lovely host
Not the most comfy bed I’ve slept in but ok

A very well maintained guest house, and very good value for the price, given location close to ferry port. Spotlessly clean. I had one of the small rooms, as clearly stated in the booking option, and it was fine for a travellers late arrival and early departure. Kettle etc and filtered water in the room. Light breakfast in the communal kitchen. The owner has a positive attitude and attends to guest needs. In my case covered, secure parking for my motorbike on a wet night.

Our room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated with a good sized ensuite. Breakfast was just like we have at home and preparing it ourselves was nice - a familiar start to the day. The kitchen was well equipped and we made good use of it in the evening too (great if like me you have food intolerance). The house is a proper period piece with Victorian tiles and mer-dragons above the front door and we enjoyed hearing its back story from our lovely host Sue.
Cranborne House is approached via a lane of charming cottages and is close to transport hubs - and frequent buses from the centre of Poole also gave us access to the stretch of coast to the west which is rich in rare and lovely habitats that make great walking. Just a short bus ride away we could get a boat to Brownsea island, an oasis of peace with wild swimming thrown in (and red squirrels if you're lucky). There's lots more to do and we're already planning our next trip...
About the room, the only small thing I'd change is that the duvets were a little heavy for August. Thin quilts with an extra layer would have ebeen perfect for both the cooler and warmer nights of our stay.
This was my first trip to Poole since childhood (in the 60s) and I was sad to find that development makes it hard (from many parts of the town) to see what a phenomenal location this huge natural harbour is - though you forget that as soon as you're anywhere near the water). It's not a great town to explore on foot, but exceptional public transport means you can get to the good locations fast - and they are seriously good.

Fantastic experience all round.
The host was very accommodating & gave me a brief run down of the area & any events happening during my stay which was a nice touch.
Rooms very cosy, spacious & immaculately clean.
Ample parking.
Basic breakfast supplies provided though I never had any of this.
If I recall, some fresh pastries provided during my stay which was also a nice touch.
Overall fantastic experience from the property & the host.
Thank you

Bathroom and bedroom were very good and comfortable.
My room was on the 1s floor accessible by a very windy and steep staircase, which I found quite difficult.
I wasn't keen on the self sercice breakfast arrangement.

In a previous review, now archived, I said I would be happy to stay here again. The guest house is about two stops from the bus station and about 20 minutes’ walk from the quay. The room was spacious with lots of storage. Everything was clean. The bathroom was roomy with an external window. The hosts facilitate breakfast by providing cereal, milk, teabags and coffee all day in a well equipped communal kitchen. At around 0700 they lay out bread, fruit bread and pastries and take some butter out of the fridge to soften. Guests can build their breakfast on this by adding their own ingredients, which they may keep in a communal fridge. Tables are set in the communal lounge. I would say that the guest house offers good value for money, for Poole.

Nice and quiet.
A mile walk into town was a bit much for me. But I do have a dodgy ankle. There is a bus.

I can’t recommend this place enough . Spotlessly clean with many a personal touch .. it was home from home .. within easy reach of all the local amenities .. breakfast is provided alongside cooking facilities .. tea and coffee in room as well as the kitchen.. the list could go on . I would definitely book again …
Nothing .. excellent value for money

Once booked excellent communication from the owner Sue. First impressions were good private parking. Such a warm, friendly welcome from Sue. Our room, Wow! Tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, comfortable, en-suite bathroom. Everything we needed was there and everything that needed to work worked. Rooms have access to shared kitchen, with fresh milk, bread, cereals and fresh pastries. Shame we had an early ferry to catch so missed out on the self service breakfast.
Nothing.
(Do use the postcode that Sue gives you as the approach roads, one way system are a tad interesting.)

Good contact with the owner, perfect location, nice clean house
Bed was too small for 2 big people and it creaked loudly. I slept well but my partner had pain in his back after our trip to Poole…no spare bathroom/toilet downstairs

Excellent location, close enough to local facilities (old town harbour 20 mins away at a steady pace) but also very peaceful. Some good local facilities, like waterfront dining and a supermarket just 10 mins away. Nice neighbourhood: property and car park felt very safe, so it was a great base for setting out on daily excursions with the peace of mind of knowing everything would be fine on return. Both the rooms we booked were ‘tall person friendly’: no low beams or things to bump your head on and the beds didn’t have any obstructions at the end, so we could fit in them easily for a good night’s sleep. Bath was a good size too! A really warm welcome for the whole family and help was always on hand if we needed it, but as it happened everything was fine and just as we would want!

Location is excellent and the property is beautiful. I spoke with Susan beforehand and the process of getting access to the property was very smooth. The property has a kitchen for use by people staying there and was fully stocked with milk, coffee, tea, sugar and also bread and butter for helping yourself to toast. There was also a kettle in the room with tea and coffee and you could help yourself to milk from the fridge in the kitchen as a milk jug was provided in the room. There is also plenty of parking available on-site. Excellent location for getting to the Quay and town centre plus the Lighthouse Centre for cinema and theatre is also close.

Cranborne House has the air of a home from home and everything is organised in a practical manner: well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedroom, shower/bathroom, common areas, all well-presented and comfortable. Even the exterior and gardens are appealing and welcoming! And the private owner couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.
Nothing I can think of

The lovely character, style and comfort of the property. Also its convenient location for visiting the town and the excellent off-street parking facilities provided. The extremely helpful advice given by the owner on accessing the accommodation was also much appreciated.

This lovely Victorian villa is a hidden gem, very near to Poole town centre but tucked out of the way. My host was helpful and responsive, providing me with a very comfortable en suite room. The little kitchen area with drink making and light breakfast items was very handy.
The entrance area was not well lit in the dark or signposted from the parking spaces so I wasn't sure if I had found my destination. Initially I knocked on the wrong front door but fortunately my host was nearby and came to

The breakfast was just toast and cold cereal
The host left us waiting for 20 minutes before she showed up, even though I scheduled our arrival in advance. She said she'd leave a key but then she didn't. And she had an attitude about us--maybe a class thing? I dunno. We were driving my husband's work van and she was a bit snotty about it.

Cranbourne House is a gorgeous period building so it feels like a luxurious place to stay. The furniture and fittings in the room, as well as in the communal areas, are very good quality. The location is handy for Poole town centre harbour. The parking is excellent. The hosts are really friendly and helpful.
A small thing: the shower was really good but was an overhead fixed one. It would be helpful to provide flannels to allow guests to more easily wash effectively. This is often done in hotels. The continental breakfast provided in the kitchen, as self service, was good but I think some fruit might improve it, and maybe yoghurts. However, I know waste might be a concern.

The house is only seven minutes from Poole station which is ideal for the early morning train we had to catch. The house was lovely. The room comfortable and there was ample parking next to the house. All in all a pleasant stay.

Very convenient if travelling by public transport. Friendly, helpful and couldn't fault anything.
It was a little tricky to find by car as roadworks hindered 1 way system.

The lady sue who ran the hotel was very accommodating and helpful, and everything else was was of great value and well worth the price.. Couldn't ask for more
The only thing I didn't like and it's unrelated to the hotel... Was during the day the main road is very busy and there isn't a great variety of shops or restaurants near by unless you walk 10 or 15 minutes into town.. Besides that minor inconvenience its located in a nice and safe environment and well worth the price and stay

Having a lovely bath . Bathroom was clean. Also good to have help yourself breakfast as I did not think we would get anything, however only cereal available, no bread for toast making .
That the taxi driver could not find the property, hard to find especially in the dark .
