The staff was very friendly and there were buses conveniently passing in front of the hotel. The room was also very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sonne and would be glad to stay there again!

We appreciated having bus stops right outside the hotel. Very convenient! I appreciated that we had to use our electronic key to unlock the hotel entrance after hours. We liked the coffee in the room and they always had water available at the station by the elevator.

We didn't realize the balcony was shared with the room next door, so had a surprise one morning. However, we still enjoyed the balcony!

We really loved our stay in Hotel Sonne! Great location with free parking with the best staff. When we arrived, our room had a smoke smell and Asia and Jason at the front desk were so gracious to accommodate us to a bigger, better room with no extra charge. That is what you call great customer service. Also, Asia was super helpful with tips on what to do, where to go along with restaurant recommendations. We did have a great time in the area, partially because of her! Also, the free Swiss chocolate and cookies on the hallways is a nice added bonus. The bakery right outside is TO DIE FOR, you need to definitely get the fresh pastries and muesli from there while visiting. Our room had the views of the mountain and cows from our beautiful balcony! Picture perfect stay. I would definitely stay at Hotel Sonne again when I am in the area.

Great stay at very comfortable and clean hotel.

Good location, free parking, great Backerei directly opposite and bus stop right outside too. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was great, nice balcony with Mountain View, comfy beds, modern new bathroom. Very clean room, could not fault it.

No complaints at all. Everything was great. Even got free chocolates and biscuits to go with the tea and coffee!

Good hotel, but the location and lack of breakfast made my stay impractical

My room was very clean, the shower was good, the bed was comfortable and there was a fan. The room door is opened through an internet link provided by the staff, who is very nice, by the way. WiFi is great.

The hotel offers no breakfast. Actually, there’s a simple vegan breakfast prepared upon request, but it’s not worth it. Fortunately, there’s a bakery across the street, because eating options are limited in the area, since the hotel is located outside the town center. The location is the biggest downside. The hotel is located 20 minutes from both Interlaken West and Ost, which you’ll use quite often. The town center is about 15-20 minutes. You can take buses to get around the town for free during your stay and there’s a bus stop in front of the hotel, but the buses run only every 30 minutes; and at night, only every hour. Not to mention they’re often crowded during the high season.

The location was excellent. It is in front of the bus stop except that Bus 104 doesn't run on Sundays, I think.

The room is very small compared to the price. No mini refrigerator was a big minus- you can't even keep your chocolate milk fresh. No kitchenette, either.

Sold as mountain view room, but this was not the case. Building right in front and partial mountain view on eaither side of the building. Entry into hotel/room via Whattsapp key, big problem if you have mobile phone issues. No manned reception after hours.

Highly recommend

I highly recommend it, very close to the city center of Interlaken. You can easily walk there, but there are also bus connections. Quick connections to all points of interest, perfectly located. Professional staff, clean room, spotless bathroom, warm and cozy inside. The hotel and room access system is excellent – congratulations to the owner for this idea. Contacting them via WhatsApp is super nice and easy, it takes away any worries for both sides. Honestly, I don’t know if they offer breakfast, but right across the street from the hotel I ate really well, and I also found branded chocolate there – I have no words to describe how good it was. I recommend this accommodation and I truly hope to return here again.

Loved the newly renovated bathrooms. The hotel is an old structure but the rooms were decent enough and the morning view from the balcony was great. Loved to have a morning coffee on the balcony over looking the Harder Kulm.

Be aware before booking - smelly bathroom, cold shower, hot room with mosquitos

The hotel is next to bus station and across from a cafe.

Very disappointing and uncomfortable experience for a well travelled family. (1) Bath room consistently yields very bad smell, can smell it even at the balcony, likely due to long-lasting plumbing issue. Hotel staff appears to have “no knowledge” of the issue and nothing gets improved after complaint. (2) If you are sensitive to heat and mosquitoes in your hotel room, you might need to consider alternative accommodation. There is no air conditioning, only fans, which forces you to keep both the windows and balcony door open at night… my kids both got bitten by mosquitoes badly. (3) Shower water turns cold, we were told to wait for 5 minutes before resuming…. When you are in the middle of showering. (4)Decent location means noisy location as well, even at 11pm at night, not sure if it’s better if the windows/doors are closed. Overall, heat wave is out of the hotel staff’s control, but room facilities are not. The 2-night stay was extremely uncomfortable. Hotel staffs are good at apologizing, without any actions to fix the issues. Personally don’t think it’s worth the high price and very surprised by the 8.9 rating. Hope the true comments help fellow travelers.
