Château Gütsch

Elegant, incredible location high above Lucerne, great service, spacious and beautifully furnished rooms. Superb restaurant with wonderful outdoor terraces. Convenient parking and quick access to the town via the hotel funicular and regular bus services.

Everything was perfect. We have traveled many times The Chateau was charming and beautiful and the staff was the one of the best. They made you feel welcome and were helpful with all questions. The front office manager, Naiara was especially incredible. She sets a tone for all employees to follow. We had a couple of meals on the terrace. Watching the sunrise over Lake Lucerne was inspiring and the food was great.

We traveled during the summer heat wave and the rooms were very warm. The staff tried to make it comfortable by placing two fans on either side of the bed. The Chateau is old and charming; it's very difficult to have air conditioning in old buildings.

Looks like Gutsch has lost the chef and a part of their soul with that person gone. The food is okish, but it was not that what I have expected having the memories of Gutsch before. Especially it was noticeable at the breakfast, got a feeling that it was minimised optimise costs. Both the ingredients and the process. For example, I was asked to for the eggs order even before I had a chance to look at the menu. Got plain scrambled eggs, only to find that I could have had bacon along with it.
