Lovely old hotel.

Great location. Old building on the river. Lobby small but nice sitting room with gas fire. Rooms small but comfortable with a nice bathroom (opaque glass door could be a bit off putting for some). A nice touch is electric shutters to reduce street noise (it’s festival time now so VERY noisy on the street). Close to everything in old town and near most stuff in the modern end.

Best hotel in Europe with luxury, convenience, amazing view, and L'Occitane toiletries

This was the best hotel in Europe. The balcony on the river, the L'Occitane toiletries, the stars on the bathroom ceiling, the powershades for privacy, the in room coffee selections, the electric adapters no detail was overlooked. Spacious, clean and the epitome of luxury located within a minutes walk to the Chapel Bridge and across the river from the Jesuit Church.

Luxury in Lucerne

We had a beautiful large suite, room 302. It had a sauna, jacuzzi bathtub and two small balconies. We had a beautiful sunset view, across from the Jesuit Church. Breakfast was plentiful, I was hoping for more gluten free bread/pastry items. We were able to easily walk to several Christmas markets, and restaurants. The hotel is located in the middle of the old town pedestrian walking area on the River. It was beautiful 🤗

The only reason we didn’t give it a ten was that the A/C was broke the first night and it was disappointing due to the price we paid to stay. I know it is a mechanical problem that can’t always be helped but still was a bummer.

Gorgeous room, BIG, balcony was absolutely lovely to eat breakfast on. Views wonderful. Central location. I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the hair dryer and the fact that they had a diffuser attachment for us curly girls! First hotel I've ever stayed at that had a diffuser available. It made me so happy. This hotel was our favorite stay in Switzerland (8 cities).

I will just keep coming back!

My third time staying there! There is no better location in Lucern! The restaurant has a Michelin star! We needed up eating there all three nights - also because Lucern has been very busy and if you don’t book it is hard to find place for dinner. The view over the lake and chapel bridge is the best. Close to weekend market and all the shopping street, the more interesting part of the city. 10mins walk to the Lucern train station. They have water and ice machine at every level- super convenient!

Major gaps for a "4-star" hotel

Central location in Lucerne within walking distance of many popular attractions and the train station. We appreciated the helpfulness of the staff and their ability to provide us with rooms close to each other. One of the rooms had an outstanding balcony view, and we appreciate the coffee/tea selection. Drinking water from the ice machine in the corridor was a convenient feature.

Major concern was that one of our rooms had a non-functioning lock, so a guest slept overnight with an unlocked door. Another issue is the poor air conditioning, it was unacceptable for a 4-star hotel, and I also observed other guests at reception complaining about the same issue. The WiFi was so slow and unreliable that it was practically unusable and we had to rely on our data plans. The building is not very accessible as disabled guests have to use the restaurant entrance to reach the (very tight) lift, which is not a short walk from the main entrance. The rooms were lacking basic amenities like a tissue box and an ironing board. We also had quite slow breakfast service on some days so the place seems understaffed. I found the pillows uncomfortable as they flattened almost completely.
