It was disappointing when you stay in 4 star hotel and don't find electrical kettle or tea bags

The location was very nice The staff were helpful The rooms were very clean and quite nice

They had very loud parties outside on the rooftop and balcony until 1 to 2 am, which made it hard to sleep. The worst part about this was that our room was situated right under the roof top and we were not notified beforehand that it would be this loud outside during our stay. On top of this, our window would not close anymore on our last night so we could barely sleep because of how loud it was. On the upside the staff did suggest us to change our room on the last night, but this was simply too much of a hassle on the last night. Consider this for your stay in the hotel if you like to sleep early, because this ruined for us 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed.

The staff who checked me in and out. He was the same staff and he was an extremely rude and unprofessional staff member who I have ever came across at Astoria Hotel where I have stayed multiple times. He is such a disgrace and a bad staff to this hotel from my point of view. He lies to a guess, pulls away invoices in a rude way. Never ever acceptable in the hotel industry and further more in Switzerland.

Poor breakfast, no varieties, even some basic items are not present. Standard rooms has the sink outside the toilet which I consider not comfortable

September in switzerland

This hotel had luxury, excellent breakfast. The location was great just a short stroll to the river and old town. Train station is 5 mins away too.

Great location but the price and quality are just not there

The location of the hotel is great and the staff were friendly. Comfortable bed linens and a good breakfast

The hotel didn’t feel clean, the room smelt musty and the carpet on the hallways seemed dingy. For the price, this came nowhere near meeting the standard we believed it should have

Comfortable room in a great location

The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station, the lake and the old town. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning made for a comfortable night's sleep. We were able to store our luggage free of charge on the morning we checked-out.

The Penthouse rooftop bar played loud music on Thursday and Friday night. But Saturday night the music was twice as loud and lasted until after 3:30AM. We were on the 4th floor. The “gym” had almost no equipment. What was there was very old. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom.

Misleading advertisement

Deceptive practice by this hotel. It advertises with "Soundproofing" but it is absolutely not true. You will hear the hallway, the conversations in rooms next to you, and even a rooftop nightclub reverb through the walls several floors down! Impossible to sleep - I am awaiting a partial refund for this misleading advertising. Will update the review if met.

I travel to Lucerne every three weeks of the month and have been staying at Astoria for probably 5 times across the year

Check In Staff. we arrived at 10.30pm with a 1 year old baby. upon arrival the staff insisted that we get extra charged for the baby. initially CHF 100 because the baby (1 year old) is extra person in the room. then she said she can charge CHF 80 instead. long story short, my husband managed to checked their policy on booking.com and it says children under 2 is free! this after we continued questioning this staff, what is the charged for considering the baby is 1 year old, sleep in our bed, and barely eat solid. she literally kept us for 30min at almost 11pm insisted that there will be charged. after got shown the Hotel policy, she backed down and said she will checked. the next morning someone called the room and said there won’t be no change for the baby, and not even sorry was said to us. Train your staff better to know your own policy!

Great hotel but loud.

Great location, clean and spacious room.

The noise in our room throughout the day until 1am was really loud. Sounded like furniture being moved (loud bangs). Slept with earplugs in and it could still be heard but otherwise a great stay.

Location was good and rooftop bar

Rooms are small and felt like the walls were paper thin! You could hear the rooms next door, too the point we had to ask reception to tell them to keep it down. Also when someone in the room above or beside you moved the 1 chair on the floorboards it was very loud in the room and extremely frustrating.

Location

We had requested traditional doors for washroom as they have glass doors. Despite confirmation they forgot the request . Initially told us they could not change the room as they were totally booked but relented when we pushed. Such basic requests cannot be missed . Pillow cover was torn ( pic attached ) . They definitely need to do better in hospitality

The location was close to the station. I distinctly remember that I had stated that there will be 4 people but I had to shell out charges for an extra room for one of the adults (with the info that only 3 people were allowed in a room). I don’t know if booking.com did not factor this in when I made the booking.

Clean, spacious room. Comfortable bed. Easy checkin and checkout. Walkable - 4 blocks from Luzern Train station, and the Chapel bridge and Old town.

Poor soundproofing - our room was on the level of the lobby and the noise from the crow in the lobby congregrating was quite loud - maybe needs additional door.

Wonderful location. Very pleasant stay!

Wonderful location. Close to Old Town, train station and tour pickup location. Front desk staff were very helpful and breakfast staff were friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable, bathroom was spacious. We stayed on the 1300 floor. We had a triple occupancy, so we got a corner room which is a little larger than the double occupancy rooms. We stayed Monday- Thursday and didn’t have any issues with noise. Overall we had an extremely pleasant stay.

The room rate was expensive but that is expected for Switzerland. No iron, toothpaste or slippers.

looks the part, but no substance

Sockets had USBs, the lobby looked nice, upgraded our room, but i don't even know if that was a bonus or not as there was multiple dislikes about the room. close to the station and town.

The rug in the room was stained, they didn't clean it properly. the room we was given was a poor design, i don't know if its the whole hotel but our room was not nice to stay in, they have a glass partition and you can hear everything through the glass, no lock on the door (luckily i was with my wife), the wardrobe is in the bathroom with poor ventilation, so if your hanging clothes they would be covered in condensation from the shower. no kettle in the room, only a coffee maker, had to request for a kettle. no mini fridge in the room. i felt the staff in reception had no personality at all or any welcoming experience, literally checked us in and didn't even say enjoy your stay. and on check out was the same, handed the key card back and that's all. it's a pretty hotel to look at from the lobby but the rest isn't great. there is a club next door so be warned it will get noisy.

Very good Location, easy to get around and staff were friendly.

Major negative point is that there is a night club downstairs and the music plays till 3:30am on Saturday (not sure about Friday). You can hear every beat so if you are a light sleeper you won’t be able to sleep so you will have to join the party downstairs.
