Perfect location, clean, nice breakfast.

The tap in the room was loose, and the drain of the wash hand basin was partially blocked with the lid of something a previous occupant had dropped down the drain hole. No plug for drain hole

The view was lovely when standing in front of the window but not when sitting or lying down. The position is very central and in a picturesque part of historic Ghent. It was easy to access the walking tour and boat trip which are all on the doorstep. The shower has good water pressure. Breakfast is served on an outdoor terrace overlooking the canal.

I was hoping for a bit of luxury during my stay but this was not delivered. The room was at the top of the building on the third floor. I am used to climbing stairs but this was incredibly steep and meant that once up, I really had to decide whether to go out again or not. The decor is showing signs of wear and tear - flexible reading lights next to the bed don't work and there are cheap flimsy plastic lamps that don't make it easy to read in bed. The mattress topper had slid over to one side and I felt I was falling off the edge of the bed. There are burn marks on one of the chairs. The paint is peeling off the doors to the 'balcony' (a ledge to stand on) which is adorned with plastic plants. The glasses in the room were smeary. One mug was stained and too small for tea. The breakfast had to be ordered the day before and was limited in choice. There is noise outside all the time that the windows and doors don't filter out - restaurants right outside the building open until late. On Monday, it was evident the building is opposite a huge building site and the noise was very disturbing. This should be pointed out when booking here. Also the roads are all being dug up so there is restricted tram access. On the last day there was a horrible smell in the room, either from the plumbing or from outside. Overall, I felt I paid too much for what I got and was left feeling ripped off.
