Perfect size and location for a short or longer stay in Gent.

Top accommodation and friendly staff

Excellent location close to everything in walking distance including a laundry /cafe nearby. The setup of the room was well done, warm and cozy. Warm and welcoming staff for check in and for breakfast each morning. Breakfast was separate but highly recommended at the bakery below the accommodation. Could not fault this greet find.

Luxurious comfy place to stay in Ghent

The room is impeccable- well lit for starters (so many hotel rooms are poorly lit). It feels really spacious thanks to the large windows and the expansive bathroom. The bed has a great mattress and the blanket is properly thick for winter- there’s both central heating and an air conditioner (we are staying in December- freezing temperatures). It is right next to the most beautiful monuments of Ghent as well as the lively and colorful Christmas market - which can easily be compared favorably to the more popular Bruges and Brussels markets. The hotel is above a bakery and that’s where they serve breakfast.

Minor things- water pressure could have been stronger. The stairs appear a bit steep but it’s so beautiful and well lit with a thick carpet you don’t really notice it.

A special treat in the center of Ghent!

The room was beautiful and extremely comfortable! The location is ideal for visiting the center of Ghent- we wished we could stay longer. It was a bonus to be able to walk downstairs for a delicious French breakfast.

My only wish is that they had a plant based milk for my latte. A small detail.

Pleasant stay on top of one of the best bakery shops in Ghent however the room is tiny and the check-in process inside t

The location is central. The room is high quality finishing and very clean. There is an outdoor terrace on the 1st floor. The bakers from the bakery shop downstairs are real sweethearts and amazingly helpful, proper and friendly. You wake up to the freshly baked goods every day.

If you are expecting a hotel service, you will be disappointed. There is no reception or service. The check-in happens inside the bakery shop, you are assisted by the bakers themselves who interrupt their work to carry your luggage upstairs and help you check-in. The room is tiny and does not justify the price.

The visit to Ghent is miraculous if you spend your time with the van Eyck altarpiece.

Accommodations are above a superb patisserie, where we purchased delicious croissants to consume with coffee provided in the room. We chose Merveilleux because of its proximity to St. Bavo. We liked what we had come to see--the Ghent altarpiece.

Reception in the patisserie was awkward. And Ghent weather during our visit was hideous.

Great location, yummy breakfast.

The rooms are situated above a bakery / tea room and we chose to pay €20 each for breakfast. It was delicious with the freshest pastries imaginable. Very central, near the cathedral, shops and canalside bars and restaurants.

We'd certainly stay here again

Very light with a high ceiling and large windows. Very large bed, but still had room for a table and 2 comfy chairs. Compact storage but more than enough for a short stay. Includes a small fridge with chilled water on arrival. Good bathroom - well maintained and cleaned. No bath (that's our preference) but an excellent shower. The staff downstairs in the patisserie were very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful Ghent accomodation

Rooms is above a patisserie/ bakery and one checks in through the shop. So always have easy access to baked goodies they make. Location is near to wak anywhere central to tourist like St Bavos and St Michael’s bridge. No elevators so had requested first floor room. I liked that they were proactive as they contacted me even before i knew my door key was deactivated somehow and they had issued me a new one. Also one staff actually slept in the propwrtty so there is soneone u can call if needing help. Special mention to Pino and Xavier for their kindness and attention during our stay.

There is no elevator and there are a lot of stairs. This was not a problem for us but could be a problem for someone with mobility issues.

Hotel Merveilleux made our stay in Ghent a magical one. We highly recommend this hotel!

Brilliant location, very central to the canals, shops and about a 5 mins walk to Saint Bavos! The room was exceptionally clean, and large (as was the bathroom - it was bigger than the room!) with a very comfy bed. There are little bay windows that you can sit by to read or take in the street below and sunshine. We couldn't believe how wonderful this hotel is... the photos don't do the room justice. My husband and I loved how the corridor and stairs leading up to our room smelt of the gorgeous aromas from the bakery below...flour, sugar, and cinnamon -- I would say this hotel has that added 'magical' element to it.

Very good communication with the staff, great location in the center, the room had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast served in the tea room was really tasty as well! We would come back.

Great place for a weekend stay

This place certainly lives up to its name - Merveilleux! The location is ideal, the room was light, spotlessly clean and comfortable and the staff welcoming. The efficient air con was particularly welcome on this hot weekend. The cakes in the shop downstairs are delicious.

The location was fantastic, and the room was really well laid out and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing! However, there were only enough teabags for 1 cup, and it was awkward to ask the staff every time we wanted more (we were there for 3 nights) The tap water was always warm, so we couldn't use it for drinking.
