Lovely place with great breakfast

Lovely property, clean and comfortable, easy to check in and out. We loved the comfort of the room and the breakfast. The idea of the Honesty bar is something we have not encountered before now and we loved that too. Only interacted with one staff at breakfast, he was very polite and kind. Parking near by was easy to access and is very reasonable priced.

We loved everything. It is a bit outside the city centre but to it was not a problem for us to walk there and back.

Great B&B in an authentic old building in Gent

Great B&B in an authentic old building, cozy and atmospheric, delicious breakfast and coffee. Very clean room, stuff is very friendly. Location close to Citadelpark and MSK agent museum (was important to me).

One thing I wanted to mention (but it's just very little something) - if you stay on the third floor (Cuddle room) and want to have some tea in the evening, you’ve got to go all the way downstairs and drink your tea there or take it with you back to 3d floor (no elevator, I knew). But that’s very little something you can deal with 😊

Comfortable accommodation with good breakfast

It was about a 15 to 20 walk from the City centre in the University area. The local bars were lively yet not too noisy. We certainly didn’t experience any noise at night. The bed was comfortable and the room quite cosy. The fridge was a little noisy, so we turned it off at night. There were drinks available downstairs which was great. However, us English like milk with our tea, so it would have been useful to have a few cartons of milk available.

Feels like a hidden gem of a hotel

For a room named the "cosy" room it was very large and well appointed. We loved the little balcony overlooking the internal courtyard. The bed was incredibly comfy and the decor was beautiful. A lot of love has clearly gone into designing this B&B. The carpet in our room felt brand new still as was lovely and soft. We loved the downstairs lounge and the honesty bar. We had a bottle of cava and listened to music one evening which was lovely and felt like a home away from home. The staff were not on site when we checked in but they were at breakfast and could not be more lovely and helpful. I am vegan and they went out of their way to ensure I had plenty to eat. There was a slight mistake with some cheese that turned out not to be vegan but it was very quickly and professionally dealt with. Loved having AC/heat in the rooms. Very nice after the heat of Ghent during the day. The toiletries and products are lovely and everything is absolutely spotlessly clean. Another nice touch are the fresh flower displays downstairs which are changed regularly. Whilst you're a bit out of town, you do have the beautiful gardens behind Sint Pieters Abbey which is definitely worth checking out. When we visited they happened to have a community event where you could pick your own fruit from the trees.... beautiful. There is also a water tram stop by the gardens which is both convenient and a great history tour. €15 for 1 day means you can get on and off as many times as you like.

It is slightly out of town. Whilst this was not a problem for us, it is a good 15/20 minute walk, however you're opposite a hop on/hop off water tram. Whilst the bathroom is beautiful it is a glass door so there is very little privacy when showering or using the toilet. You're not able to have tea/coffee in your room. We totally understand why (to maintain the beautiful decor), however I expect like me a lot of people like to have a cuppa before getting dressed and going for breakfast in the morning. These are tiny points and did not impact our stay at all. We would come back here in a heartbeat.

Quality location, cosy room and wonderful staff

The woman working there who we saw at breakfast was excellent, really friendly and wanted to ensure we had everything we needed. Also an excellent location - in walking distance from the train station and city centre where the main tourist attractions are. Comfy bed, nice quiet room with flowers and a little balcony. Highly recommend this to anyone choosing to stay in this area.

The door / wall to the bathroom area is just thick glass so you can see & hear through it from the bedroom - it wasn't an issue for us, but it's just something to be aware of if you're wanting that kind of privacy from whoever you're sharing the room with.

A quaint, rejuvenating and cozy place to unwind after busy touring and travel days.

First and foremost, I was received by the most welcoming and accomodating staff, Joanna and Remy (not sure if I spelled those correctly). I found them very helpful and so willing to make sure any requests or inquiries were take care of. I absolutely loved the space, the ambience, the comfort, the cleanliness, the calm and peace, the ease of access to and from property. The breakfast was stellar, everything was fresh and the variety and selection superb. I loved the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, so much so I went on a hunt through Ghent to find a retail store which sold the brand and scent.

I was very lucky to have Joanne and Remy help me with my very heavy suitcases up the stairs. It was a long climb up to my room and down when I had to leave. If I had to say thing I didn't like it was that, but not because I don't like stairs, it is more because I had extra heavy baggage for a solo traveller.

You need to be half mountain goat to climb up to the Romance room but it just so happens that we are just that. Check what floor your room is before reserving. Wife bumped head on low ceiling corner - be careful.

Satisfied, highly recommended overall

Breakfast was good. The gentleman taking care of the hotel was also very nice. I also liked that the hotel is very well suited for students who study in universities nearby yet might be a bit far from other attractions (e.g., gent centre)

I think the room could have been kept better (e.g., the bed was not done neatly). Also, felt less privacy in the bathroom due to the door.

A lovely getaway

The staff were so friendly and helpful at B&B Achilles, the rooms were spacious and clean and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was fantastic. We actually unfortunately missed our final breakfast but a very kind lady who was working that day let us take a “goody bag” of croissants and fruit with us to go, which was so kind. Great location, it’s about a 20 or so minute walk into the centre and the surrounding area of the B&B is lovely. It’s also very close to Ghent train station too.

Cozy stay in Ghent

The staff were super friendly, the B and B was very nice and we loved the room we had - “Cozy Room.” It was decorated very nicely, the bed was huge and comfortable, bathroom very nice and easy to control temperature of room. Location was good - a quiet area just outside of town, but easy to get into the center of town - one road to walk and in about 10-15 mins you are there.

The room was spacious, wonderful decorated and very clean. Everything was immaculate. Lovely that we had some chocolate candies in the room and also water in the fridge when we arrived. Breakfast was tasty, with fruits, prosciutto, chesse, pastries, jam, eggs, granola yogurt and pancakes. It was a great weekend gateaway.

Ghent is beautiful, we will definitely be back

Bedroom is spacious, clean and comfortable. Toilet is also very clean and has very good water pressure. Property is located close to all the tourist attractions (20 mins walk) and Betty who runs the property is just the loveliest and friendliest lady we’ve ever met!

Everything, it was perfect. From the first contacts with the host up to the last one. The room was gorgeous, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom large enough, well decorated and, for once in a long serie of b&b, the shower & tap were functioning perfectly...

Room for improvement : during the first night someone rang at the door several times, insisting, while we were sleeping on the room just above the entrance - it woke us up. The second night, some people sleeping in the other rooms were very noisy and it woke us up too. Maybe do something about the policy for the guests? Also, there were a lot of mosquitoes when we arrived - maybe just spray some natural repellent before new guests arrives?

Fantastic B&B in Ghent

We could not believe how lovely the B&B was. The rooms were furnished to a really high standard; the breakfasts were amazing; the staff were attentive and friendly.

It was a 20 minute walk to the city centre, although it was fine for us and there was a bus stop very near Achilles.
