    We have booked Standard Premium (STP) Room for 5 nights in this hotel through Agoda and checked in on 6th July. On that day, we were given a room informing that no other rooms of the same type are currently available and was told that if there is a problem, we can request for change of room the next day. The room does not look at all like the picture of STP room, rather matched with the picture of standard double. We asked for change on 7th since the room picture shown in Agoda which we booked was having a table, but the room we are staying in not having the table which we needed for working. The person at the reception told us that it is not available now and to ask at the reception the next day. So far, everyone in the reception was polite, helpful and professional. On the third day morning, we went to the reception and told the situation again showing the picture. But one lady at reception named Beatrice jumped into the conversation started talking very rudely and unprofessionally to us. Her attitude was as if we were begging and talked about paying double to them to get the room we booked! We felt extremely humiliated, offended and disrespected by the way of talking, the attitude, the unnecessary unprofessional wordings and gestures used by her which in turn made us retort back. We reported the issue to the manager, but he also does not seem to be impartial and having some prejudice. As a result of this, our whole stay was ruined. Apart from this, the hotel claimed that the picture shown in Agoda for the STP room is of only one room and no other room has the same facilities which is cheating from Agoda/Hotel. Similarly, the city tax amount mentioned while booking is not matched with the city tax we had to pay which was much higher. Also, the breakfast options are extremely limited and mostly left-overs from the previous day was served the next day. I fell sick after taking their food. As a whole, although the room looked nice and the hotel is at a good location, not at all recommended if you want a peaceful comfortable stay.

    We stayed at the Gravensteen Hotel recently and found the location to be excellent, with a variety of great restaurants just around the corner. While the hotel is charming, there are a few logistical tips that will make your stay much smoother: Transport Tip: Despite what navigation apps might suggest, I highly recommend taking a taxi or car service from the train station rather than the tram. The walk from the tram stop involves heavy cobblestones, which is quite a struggle if you have multiple pieces of luggage. Accessibility: Be prepared for a short flight of stairs leading up to the reception area. If you’ve just come off a long journey with heavy bags, it’s something to keep in mind. The Room: Our room was comfortable and well-equipped with both heating and AC. Note that there was no in-room phone to contact the front desk and no complimentary bottled water provided. Our toiletries also needed a refill upon arrival—though the staff was very responsive once notified. Dining: The breakfast is a standard continental spread. It’s functional, though it lacks local touches like a toaster or Belgian waffles. Overall, the front desk team was wonderful and the proximity to the castle and local sights is hard to beat.
