The breakfast is excellent with loads of choice and a great view from the roof terrace. Its a bit of a climb up some steps to the hotel if you have heavy bags.

The hosts were very friendly, pleasant and helpful and the owner had excellent English. The room was very clean and cleaned everyday. The breakfast was fresh and cooked to order.
The property was located near the old town and all facilities but it is located at a height above the town. People with mobility issues might have access problems to the property as you have to climb a series of steps.

It was clean and very tastefully furnished, as well as having the quaintness one might expect in a historic cliffside village. The room was serviced daily. Federica and her mother in law were excellent hosts, helpful whenever needed, and cooking superb breakfasts, with fruit salad including locally sourced fruit, and figs from their own tree; croissants and pastries; and eggs in different forms, with the option of ham and cheese, with bread and butter and focaccia; and coffee in various styles. Also copious quantities of fruit juice - we had orange and pineapple, but other options were available. Breakfast was served on the rooftop, so good views of Monterosso below and the hillside above, and a bit of sea on the other side. The rooftop had some sofas as well and was available throughout the day. Ice was available in the hallway, and also limoncello with no extra charge. It should be born in mind that there were only 3 rooms, and 2 staff, so with BnB capability rather than hotel. Water was supplied daily.
The only disadvantage was it was accessible only via over 100 steps. This was only a problem to us on arriving with our luggage, and Federica helped us with our suitcase, which was going above and beyond. Anyone staying here needs to be aware that there is no vehicular access to much of the Cinque Terre villages, so it’s necessary to walk with luggage from the station (about 10 mins)

The treatment it’s a VIP, breakfast, cleaning !!! The view from the rooftop for breakfast is stunning and there are 3 or more ways to get to the main downtown which it’s only 1 minute walk! And they all stunning views . Let me mention again the fresh baked and fresh fruits are amazing Nona makes all fresh every morning ! I truly loved our stay! I have been in other hotéis in the same village and I never took time to leave a review! However for this one how good it was I made time to write !!! Thank you !!!!!

Everything. Lovely breakfast and lovely clean room. very nice proprietress who was very obliging.
Nothing! we’ll maybe the fact that there are 100 steps up to it, but we managed and we are in our 70s so I’m sure most people could manage it.

It was apart of the Old Town, just off & up from the main area. This allowed for privacy and a more local feel. Brilliant host. Clean and super comfortable.
Beautiful breakfast on the lovely terrace upstairs.
Great local recommendations and tips.
Beach towel kindly supplied.

Il Timone was the perfect place to stay in Monterosso. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and made me feel very much at home. There was one morning the air con had stopped working, and it was fixed within a couple of hours. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was one of my favourite parts of the day. It was so peaceful sitting up there looking out over Monterosso and listening to the birds. It is close to the beach, train and restaurants/shops. Monterosso in general is a great place to base yourself if you intend to hike through the towns. Highly recommend.
There are a lot of stairs leading up to the property, and a some stairs inside the property - they were a bit of a struggle but ultimately okay for me, but would be difficult for some.

Extremely welcoming staff. Great breakfast. Incredible view on the terrace. The house is easy to access and very close to the center while still being in a more quiet area. Everything was great.

Minor tiny hiccup with check in and finding it

This was the best place I stayed on my travels throughout Italy !! The attention to detail, customer service, breakfast and kindness was at the highest level. I am very grateful to Frederica and her mother in law; they were such a pleasure and really kicked off my vacation on the right foot !! The rooftop terrace, with shade and sun, comfortable seating and a breeze was very enjoyable
The stairs to the property were initially a challenge for me; I got better as the days went by. I am out of shape so the difficulty I experienced was all in me. The stairs did have sturdy handrails and beautiful gardens along the way

Absolutely the best property we stayed at while we were in Italy. Everything was above expectations, bed was extremely comfortable and the service from our host was incredible. Also had the best breakfast, coffee, and views from the terrace. 10/10 would come back and highly recommended.
There was honestly not one thing that we didn't like. The room had steps to go down into it, but for us that was not an issue, but might be considered if someone has mobility issues. But, Monterosso in general has a lot of steps, so it wasn't an issue to us.

The breakfast was lovely! It was made to order every morning and served on a fabulous terrace overlooking the town, with a small view of the sea.
Federica was soooo helpful, warm and welcoming.
The accommodation is at the top of a high hill so takes some physical fitness to get there by a great many steps, but is well worth the effort!
For me, it was perfect!

It's a family friendly B & B
Breakfast.
Omelets were good but the warm and fresh croissants and always a 2nd pastries to go with fresh fruit were excellent
The Only real draw back were the 100 plus steps. Remember it's a B&B not a Hilton. In Italy you eat and walk a lot, because it's a fact Jack. We had a nice 3 days there. Bring hiking boots for the trip from Montorosa to Vernazza

cute cozy comfortable room, host was very friendly and informative
the stairs to climb to the location was a workout. but it’s not a big deal.

The 106-step climb from the centre of Monterosso is worth it for a stay in this charming bed and breakfast with comfortable ensuite rooms, fast wifi, hot water, and lovely olive oil toiletries at your disposal.
The breakfast was the highlight. Served on the rooftop terrace with views of the mountains and the sounds of the waves crashing against the nearby shore, it was a perfect start to the day. There was a great variety of food too including cereal, yogurt, fruit, and freshly made pastries as well as cheeses. It really set you up for a day of hiking the Cinque Terre.
The host, Federica is very kind and accommodated an early check-out with earlier breakfast. There are also some drinks and snacks left in the reception area as you come in and out.
If I'm ever back in this area, I would happily stay here again.
Small quibble but the power in the hairdryer was really poor. A more modern one would be better but this is a very small complaint.

Fantastic place to stay in Monterosso old town. Federica is a very friendly and helpful hostess, the room was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Breakfast on the terrace was spectacular.

Great location with an amazing view from the rooftop terrace. Close to the beach and right in of the old part of Monterosso. Homemade breakfast was served on the roof and was perfect with lots of different options. Room was clean and comfortable. Would love to come back!

This was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Close to everything even with the steps. (Monterosso I has steps everywhere. The breakfast on the terrace every morning was a highlight. The host was most helpful to ensure I had a good stay. Would go back in a heart beat.

The property was elegant, cosy and well equipped. It was sparkling clean and the breakfasts were amazing. We particularly loved having a terrace (plus complimentary Limoncello) at our disposal. The staff were really helpful with local information and were happy to let us leave our bags after we checked out and keep the beach towels until our train left.
The bed mattress was a bit too firm and hurt my legs at some angles!

My stay at Il Timone Lerta was wonderful. It is located right in the centre of Monterosso, with easy access to the train station, the beach, and restaurants downtown. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with even a kettle provided. The breakfast was so delicious, fresh and with many choices! Federica, the owner, helped me get around Monterosso and explained a few things about Cinque Terre that made my stay easier. She also helped me carry my luggage up and down the stairs when I moved in and out, for which I was so grateful. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Very good breakfast!!! Lovely view from the terrase.Clean and nice service😊
It was a bit of a stuggle to climb up 100 steps with our luggage to reach the place but other than that we loved our stay there. 😊

We loved the roof top terrace. It was the reason we booked and it didn't disappoint from breakfast to last thing at night.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Everyone super nice, friendly and accommodating.
Could not recommend more highly.
Nothing, however, I have to say the stairs are challenging with luggage. If you have mobility issues it might not be for you.

Amazing rooftop terrace with views over the village. Great breakfast every morning with fruits, pastries, eggs and yogurt. Friendly and helpful host! The room includes beach towels, free limoncello and water and it has a fridge.
A lot of steps to get there, but it’s not a problem when you’re prepared for it! Take your earplugs, because you can hear the churchbells and kitchen in the morning.

The owner, Francesca, is one of the most efficient and helpful hostesses you will find. She went out of her way to assist me in 2 difficult situations during my 3 day stay with her.
A great American style breakfast was served each morning on the charming terrace. I'm very happy that I chose this 3 room guest house.

The breakfast was simply awesome, would wake up in the morning to the smell of fresh baked pastry, eggs to order, and the terrace where breakfast is served has wonderful views. Hostess was very supportive, came and found me when I got lost (rare Google map fail).Room seemed authentic Italian, and large by European standards.
