Located perfectly at North end of Ipanema Beach and short walk from Copacabana Beach.
Great view from rooftop bar. Clean and effective. Also appreciated the 12pm checkout.

Close to Ipanema beach and a short walk from Copacabana beach. Roof terrace and pool overlooking the ocean. Second time staying at Arena Ipanema. Will return.

The location is genuinely great — steps from Ipanema beach, hard to beat. But the hotel itself doesn't live up to its rating, and a 7-night stay gave us plenty of time to notice.
We arrived to bedsheets with holes. The toilet flush was broken for almost the entire stay and only fixed on the last night. The bathroom ceiling had humidity stains and visible damage. Daily cleaning left sand on the bathroom floor and didn't reach the corners. No iron in the room — you had to request one.
The biggest issue was cigarette smoke coming into our room on multiple nights, in a hotel that is supposedly non-smoking. Every complaint got the same response: apologies and someone sent to spray deodorant in the room. After the third night, I asked for compensation. Reception promised a supervisor would follow up. Nobody ever did.
The checkout experience finished things off badly. We were told we could use the facilities to shower before our flight. When we went to collect the key, we found out the only available shower was the open-air sauna shower on the rooftop — no walls, no privacy, unusable for anyone wanting an actual wash. This was never mentioned when they said yes.
The staff weren't rude, and the position on Ipanema is genuinely hard to fault. But the rooms need real investment, complaints aren't followed through, and guests are told what they want to hear rather than the truth. For the price and the rating, it's not good enough.
