Everyone at the hotel was so helpful and friendly. We had some great recommendations from Bruno and he helped us book a transfer to our next destination which was a great help.
The pool area was so beautiful, the views were amazing.
Breakfast was simple but tasty, fresh eggs and bacon were available everyday.
The room was spacious, comfortable and clean.
The location was a short walk to Ipanema beach, up a little hill. We knew this when we booked but it was surprisingly pleasant to have a short walk back and forth everyday. It allowed us to get a good look at the sights, shops and restaurants nearby which we wouldn’t have done otherwise.

Very nice view and green surroundings. The staff and owners was really friendly and helped us with everything.
The room standard wasn’t perfect but that didn’t mean that much in the overall picture because of the very lovely staff and owners of the hotel.

Overall actually a nice hotel but has more potential to be developed (if it is allowed by Booking, I will send a separate message or e-mail or letter to the owner with suggestions in this regard). Once you are inside the hotel, it is a nice place.
The street leading to the hotel is not very "welcoming", which does not mean, it is particularly dangerous.
The superior suite with seaview, which I booked, was large, which I liked, but it needs a comfortable armchair inside. Large terrace with a table and two chairs. The seaview, however, was disappointing. The view of the sea was to a large extent blocked by buildings.
Very nice, helpful and efficient staff. Definitely 10/10.
The fact that the hotel is adults-only.
The location. Walking back to the hotel from "main" Ipanema, is a long and winding uphill street. Hotel too far away from the real Ipanema where everything happens. This point could be countered by saying the hotel is quieter than those at Ipanema beach and immediate surroundings, but during my four-day stay, unfortunately, sometimes I heard rap music up to my room, coming from the neighborhood, as well as dogs barking.
In the part of the hotel where my room was located, I could here my neighbors talk (however, not to the extent that I could understand what they were saying).
Breakfast was below average : ham and cheese were not kept in a cool place. Fruit was not always ripe and I never saw a single slice of papaya.
There is a long flight of stairs to climb from the entrance to the reception desk (staff will happily help you with your luggage). Depending on where inside the compound, your room is located, there might be more stares to climb. I cannot review the swimming pool area and view since it rained most of the time during my stay (bad luck).

The biggest highlight were the staff. The people of RARO Ipanema were amazingly hospitable, very kind, and gave us many tips on what to see and do. The whole energy of the hotel felt like a family. And that view from the roof was just a cherry on top! Definitely recommend and will be back someday for sure!

Not much.
The pool seemed to be nice, but we didn't had the chance to enjoy it since we left after 1 night despite having a booking for 4 nights. Same for the breakfast, altough what we saw was average.
Room: The room was very small and completely outdated, feeling more like a converted side building than an actual hotel room. Definitely not worth the high price we paid.
Location: The hotel is right at the entrance of a favela, about 7 minutes from the main road. Despite being told it was safe, we did not feel comfortable walking at night, and it was often difficult to get an Uber to or from the property.
Noise: It was extremely noisy all night long, with constant sounds from the neighbourhood and the street. The hotel is on a curve where cars and scooters honk frequently. The “noise-cancelling” windows and curtains did not help at all.
Security: Although the hotel claims to have 24/7 security, we never saw anyone, and the external door was often left open, which didn’t make us feel safe given the area.
Communication & service: Communication with the staff and owner was poor. Our concerns were not taken seriously, and the only proposed solution was to change rooms starting from the third night. No refund or compensation was considered, and some messages remained unanswered.
Overall: We didn’t feel treated as guests, but simply as a source of revenue. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property.

The view, location and staff are all exceptional. The decor is tasteful and the space is like an oasis above the hustle and bustle of Ipanema. It’s a delightful hotel. I wish I didn’t have to leave, and I can’t wait to return.

Convenient location between Ipanema and Copacabana, close to the tube station.
Beautiful view, especially from the nice rooftop. We booked their top room, very spacious, with nice balcony and view.
Very clean.
Staff very helpful, welcoming. The owners are very friendly. They are often around and do their best to enhance your stay and assist you in anything you may need. They even “surprised” us with an extra, unexpected and very much appreciated espresso machine that wasn’t included in the room.
The only downside was the amount of uphill walking you have to do to get to the hotel. And many extra stairs to take once you get in, especially if your room is at the top floor.

Great views, knowledgeable friendly staff, amazing roof terrace
There could have been more choice at breakfast. Initially the walk up the hill felt daunting as it was not the most picturesque but we never felt threatened going up the hill at all times of day.

The hotel has a lovely ambiance and great views. The rooms are quirky, clean and comfortable. The staff were incredibly considerate and nothing was too much trouble. Leonardo on the front desk was particularly helpful and thoughtful. The hotel is within walking distance of Copacobana and Ipanema
It's quite tricky for some taxi drivers to find the hotel and it doesn't have a sign outside.

Beautiful views, wonderfully appointed, elegant and very warm staff. A delicious respite from the busy-ness of dynamic Ipanema down below. Pictures after the rooftop are from the top floor suite. Weekday cook did magic with the scrambled eggs with cheese and ham.
At first the climb up the hill and to the top floor was intimidating, but having stayed there for 5 nights can say that RARO is a very special place and worth a stay, and that it gets easier. The charming & committed new owners, whose combined hotel experience helps them make this hotel very well run, with gorgeous furnishings, are just now getting fully into their stride. (Rooftop bar would become operational just after we left). The only modest beef we have is that the breakfast buffet could have been a bit heartier & more varied, perhaps spread out on a larger surface.

The best thing about RARO is the team. Robert and his wonderful team made us feel really at home at RARO. As soon as you enter the property, you are in an oasis of calm where you feel so well looked after. The property is very tastefully decorated and landscaped - the orchids are beautiful. The location is perfect - 5 minute walk downhill to Ipanema and a number of very nice local restaurants that you can visit on the way. The roof terrace offers spectacular views and when the bar area is fully open, it will be an amazing place for a Caipirinha! It is a gem of a find and very different from the global franchises which are abound in Rio. We could not have wished for anything better.
We are very happy to climb stairs - good for the stepcount and fitness! However, if you have mobility issues, this is probably not the place for you.

From the moment we arrived, we felt instantly welcomed, especially because we’re Dutch and the hotel owner, Victor, is Dutch as well. The hotel is located in a lovely neighborhood close to the beach. It sits slightly up the hill, with charming restaurants at the bottom and even a Sunday market nearby.
The hotel itself is beautifully situated on the hillside, giving you breathtaking views of Rio and right from the rooms. The interior is stylish with a French touch, absolutely perfect for taking stunning photos. In the morning you can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the garden, and the owner’s dog Chelsey adds an extra sweet and playful touch to the experience.
If you’re not in the mood for the beach, the rooftop terrace with its pool is a perfect alternative for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
In short: a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with warm hospitality. We loved every moment and would definitely come back!

Couldnt say enough good things about this hotel! It’s an absolute must — the people owning & working it are just so kind, attentive and hospitable, such a great energy flows through; relaxed and calm with impeccable design and space, but kind, fun and thoughtful. The rooftop has the best view of Rio! This would complete any trip to the city and more! We look forward to coming back again and certainly for longer ~ thank you so so much

Its a beautiful place with a lot of character. You can tell the owners put a lot of effort in it to make it way more than a stay. For us it really felt like the perfect stay. Its location is very central, we felt super safe and also more like a unique experience than in any other hotel

Good breakfast selection, healthy breakfast. Beautiful hotel with lots of beautiful plant and wildlife around. Concierge service was first class. The views from our balcony and also on the rooftop are amazing and so peaceful. Chelsea was an added bonus, we,ll let you discover him yourself but he’s adorable, the owner Robert was genuinely lovely, so welcoming, and had some great advice for our stay. Leo was a legend, he did so much for us, our first night he ordered takeaway food for us as we were done in, we had a day our uber kept canceling, he sorted that for us, he had amazing recommendations from food right down to where my wife could get her new tattoo.
The only thing that made us sad but isn’t a big issue, the bar was having work done to it, completely understand these things happen, alternative arrangements of limited drinks available, would have liked the option of something alcoholic that wasn’t a beer, but it honestly wasn’t a problem for us as we still had a really great time.

Great view of the favella, stuff very helpful and polite something that we didn’t find in other hotels
Small choices for breakfast and many stairs to go to the terrace with the view from the room

Fantastic hotel with such great character and charm but the staff really made it for me, all of them were so kind and polite and made you feel like a guest at their home. We booked the sea view room and the view was stunning. Oh and if you’re lucky you might get to meet Chelsea :)

The best aspects are the perfect location between Ipanema and Copacabana, with the metro just 500 meters away. The panoramic view, the cozy bar, and the pool made our stay extra special, and the staff was always helpful, even with our luggage. Despite being on the way to a favela, we never felt unsafe.
The property is still being refreshed, as the current owner only took over in April, which adds a charming sense of potential. Also, the hill walk and the stairs are a great way to get some exercise while enjoying the views and the vibrant surroundings.

The owner and his staff are super welcoming and friendly people. They did a great effort making this an unforgettable holiday!
The hotel is on a great location, a quite street with a great view! And on walking distance to Ipanema beach, restaurants, ... Everything you want!

The staff were super nice, always helpful. The hotel is walking district to the shops and beach and restaurants, very convenient. The room is large, good beds, and the view from both the room as well as the rooftop pool deck are excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at Raro Ipanema Hotel. Everything was perfect.
The hotel is ideally located close to Ipanema and Copacabana and easy to access. The facilities including the room, swimming pool, garden and lobby are comfortable, clean and warm. The view from the rooftop is stunning, you can enjoy the pool and sun from there.
The plus about this property is the staff that is amazing. Always kind and really helpful, they are here to make you feel home and allow you to enjoy your stay the best way.

It is a great boutique hotel in a great location and fabulous view. I like that it is a residential area and you can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. You can go to the rooftop and see the sunrise. The rooms are a good size, clean and I also had a great view from my balcony. What really made the hotel was the service firm the staff who went above and beyond to provide great service, even down to the owners. I would definitely rebook this hotel.
What is there not to like?

I arrived and was warmly greeted by Leonardo. I felt comfortable, almost at home. The owners of the beautiful hotel, Robert and Ramon, were very friendly, and the way they treat their guests is very positive. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has beautiful rooms and a rooftop pool with breathtaking views of Rio.❤️🇧🇷
nothing, most things worked well!

Really beautiful hotel, in a very good location! The room was clean, spacious and good facilities. The view of the terrace is amazing! The staff was helpful and very friendly.
The only minus was the limited options for breakfast, for 2-3 days it’s good but not for a longer stay.

This hotel is my home in Rio haha
I absolutely love this place, it’s so cozy and all the staff are so kind and helpful. After my stay, i realised that I lost my very special bracelet and they let me comeback to the room and search for it after a few days and for my surprise it was there!
The view is incredible and the hotel is an authentic Rio/Brazil experience!
I do recommend it.
Nothing.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The courtyard was like a tropical garden, and the common areas were peaceful and spacious as well. There is a pool at the top, which we didn’t use but has a beautiful view. The staff were all amazing, particularly Leonardo, who was at the reception when we arrived and made us feel right at home. We also met Robert, one of the owners, a lovely, warm and welcoming host. The hotel is very central and feels very safe. The welcoming atmosphere is infectious, with all guests greeting and smiling at each other. Truly one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
There was nothing we didn’t like

Location and the view from the balcony and from the rooftop are stunning.
You should literally take some drink, just sit, watch and enjoy.
From the rooftop you see Sugarloaf moutain, Ipanema hill, copacabana beach, the colors of closest favela's, Rocinha favela and much more.
Hotel has a perfect location, close to ipanema beach, close to copacabana beach, both in walking distances.
Other lovely thing is hotel stuff. Guys are super nice and super helpful, when you need something they are trying to help you max as possible to satisfy you.
When we will travel to Rio next time, we will definitelly stay here.
Furniture in the room needs minor repairs, but nothing critical.

We loved the room, decor and the view! Above all else, we were really appreciative of Leonardo whose service was 10/10. Unfortunately, we had fallen victims to a beach card scam and lost a lot of money. We couldn't have asked to stay anywhere better and felt going back was the safest thing to do. Leonardo was professional, calm, empathetic and so helpful. He even called the bank for us to speak Portuguese. He checked on us the next day too. He had a genuineness about him and is clearly a brilliant human. I think L'homme Hotel should treasure him as he makes the place feel even more special. He also gave us a dinner reccomendation. The guests and breakfast were good too! We were also given a free room upgrade which was really nice and a special treat.

Very stylish hotel with a great view. I did not mind the stairs at all, I think it's totally fine. Room was quiet spacious and nice. Location is also 10-15 mins walking distance from the beach.
The bed was quiet small for 2 people. Hotel owners are French (unlike their very friendly Brazilian staff), so the hotel guests are mainly French and not the same level of warmth and friendliness you receive as opposed to a Brazilian owned property, which makes you miss the more authentic Brazilian experience. I was quiet surprised to find a toilet seat up on the common bathroom area, which is not the most pleasant thing to run into.

The view over Rio is nice! Our room had a good size.
The water in the shower doesn't drain well because it was build wrong.

We enjoyed the location and beautiful rooftop! We were able to connect to the Bluetooth speaker and play some music while we enjoyed the view in the morning. The breakfast was simple, delicious, and someone offered to make us eggs which was so nice.
Heads up that the drinks in the mini fridge are not complimentary. I should have known but I figured the person before me left them there. Also, it wasn’t a problem for us, but if you have knee problems - there are a lot of stairs to get to the pool. But the stairs are 1000% worth it!

L'Homme de Rio feels like a B&B in many ways, and the staff truly makes the place. David and Lorena were wonderful in helping me navigate my first trip to Rio with recommendations on where to go to the beach, eat, and tours. Every night Lindoberg made hot water so I could have evening tea (the rooms don't have a kettle). The view from the balcony is everything! I miss waking up to it already.
As others have mentioned, it's a bit of a steep climb up St. Roman to get to the hotel, followed by quite a bit of stairs to get to the lobby, then more to the rooms. This was great for helping burn the extra calories, but would be hard for those with mobility challenges.
Room could use a fresh coat of paint and a coffee pot or kettle as well.
