Huge amount of noisy building work going on. We weren’t informed beforehand. Lots of drilling and banging in pool area. Also loud music by pool too. Why do they do this; everyone has headphones anyway.

Iconic

Iconic hotel in the heart of Copacabana. The ocean view is worthy the price of the stay, the service & staff are outstanding, food is delicious, both breakfast as well as room service. The interior design is old fashion but perfectly fits the style of the hotel. Amazing pool.

The bathroom could use some renovation (the door was squeaky and didn't close properly) and the air conditioning in the room was very noisy, thankfully was not really needed as a wonderful sea breeze was coming through the ocean side windows.

Breakfast is great but during the weekend when the choice is a little bit better , concierge service dod their bast to accommodate our needs, suggest programs are very nice, we suggest bike tour with GM

Excellent!

Absolutely loved staying here. We were upgraded from a city view to sea view, which was fantastic. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, large room, free champagne and Halloween chocolates a lovely touch. Staff were consistently excellent, beautiful food and drinks. Samba music by the pool on Saturday was great fun. We were very impressed and would certainly stay there again. Worth the price.

Beautiful hotel whose staff were exceptional.

Suite had lots of space and good sized bathroom. Mini bar, flip flops, gowns, champagne and more included and available in the room. Restaurant and bar by the pool were lovely, with a great choice of food and drinks. All staff were absolutely excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and staff consistently provided and offered additional services to make our stay comfortable.

The cherry on top of a perfect honeymoon - you will feel like royalty when staying at the Belmond!

Our stay at the Belmond was unlike anything we have ever experienced before - absolutely incredible. We stayed for 1 night on our final day for our honeymoon. The staff were incredibly attentive, and our room was absolutely fantastic - we even had a lovely little surprise in our room on arrival and our room had been upgraded. I only wish we were there for more than 1 night as it was the cherry on top of our perfect honeymoon - we felt like royalty for a day! Thank you so much to the staff for making us feel so special.

We travelled for over 3.5 weeks and this hotel was booked to relax around the swimming pool. Disappointed that all we could hear was the noise from the scaffolding and work people putting up Lady Gags’s concert. Appreciate this may be a unique situation but we felt the hotel could have alerted us prior to taking the trip so we could make an informed decision about whether or not to stay. Having said that the hotel did their best to try and accommodate our needs.

disappointing to the bones

The building is beautiful, the rooms are very pretty, well maintained. Very clean.

After my second trip here am sure it was not just an incidence during my first stay, but a rule: terrible food (either breakfast or dinner), the staff trying to put you in the worst possible room (contrary to beautiful pics from your reservation). Breakfast at such vacation-type resort served only till 10:30, after this they rush to remove everything from the buffet. Low quality of food (ei: hot dogs served, every day the same, tomato sauce from the concentrate ! in country full of fresh veggies or fruit!). Tiny little windows so you can feel like in prison. Generally indifferent or rude reception. You have to struggle to get what you paid for, they will do all the tricks possible to cheat you and put you in shabby room.

Elegant and refined spot to enjoy sand and surf

This is THE address for classic glamor in Rio. You truly feel a part of this hotel's history and legacy upon walking in the door. Service was top notch, and the bed was comfortable. We asked a few times for items to be brought to the room, and upon hanging up the phone, they were there. It was quite shocking! We also used the hotel's car service, which was convenient and friendly. Breakfast was delectable. Highly recommend!

It's not exactly the hotel's fault, but the one drawback is the pool. Though it's certainly the largest in Rio, the placement of the pool between a number of towers means that it only really gets sun until 11:30am or noon. There are some chairs on a higher terrace for afternoon sun, but I wish we could have swum in the sun through the afternoon. The pool gets quite chilly in the shade. The hotel's area on Copacabana Beach is also perfectly suitable but feels less than luxurious.

I didn't like the fact that you had to cross a major street to get to the beach, but that wasn't a problem.

Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at.

Attention to detail was excellent. Service was incredible. Lots of very thoughtful small touches. Cipriani one of the best meals we ever had and the Michelin star is very well deserved. Massage was one of the best I’ve had and other services like haircuts/gym were very good indeed. Pool was gorgeous (although weather sadly meant we didn’t use it).

We did have some problems with meals at the Pérgula restaurant. Slow / mistakes with orders etc. Not clear what was happening there as everything else was excellent.

Welcoming from the second you arrive. Accommodated a very early check in and at short notice. The hotel does a great job at being very elegant and sophisticated but doesn’t feel stuffy and has a great atmosphere. If you’re coming to Rio, I wouldn’t have any second thoughts about staying here. I’ve been to Emiliano, Sheraton and Hyatt in Rio and they don’t even come close!

A gift for ourselves.

We felt like in a mother"s house, because despite glamour and luxury, all employes were very simpathetic and kind.

To be advertised about the risk of bed persons in front of hotel or at the beach, make us afraid. Security question must be improved.

Loved the area near the beach, but did not enjoy the hotel staff.

Upon checking in the front desk clerk offered us an opportunity to see another room with a view. She made it sound as if it was another option to the room we had booked. We waited for the room to be cleaned and we saw it and really liked the room. Then when we returned, she informed me that it would be a significant increase in cost! If she had let me know this up front I would not have wanted to see it. After getting our hopes up with the upgraded room, it was a huge let down to stay in a lesser room without the ocean views. Very disappointed with the hotel customer service!

Better customer service! Checked out after the first night to another hotel for the two weeks stay.
