Not much we didn’t like. If I’m being extremely picky (and I’m not even sure if it’s the property’s fault or the city’s water supply) the shower water was extremely chlorinated, leaving us smelling of swimming pool.

Great place to stay in Lucca

This was our second stay at the Ilaria. The staff is wonderful, always friendly and helpful. It is a hotel where I can highly rate the breakfast: lots of choices, not just the usual meat, cheese, and cornetti. They also have a happy hour, which is always appreciated after a long day. And, it's a good location, a short walk to the walls, restaurants, and shopping.

Excellent location and very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Nice to have snacks available in the lobby, even though they were basically left over from breakfast!

Would stay again!

We love Lucca and have stayed in a variety of places in the city. Hotel Ilaria is up there with the best. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was big, clean, and comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring the city, but being in a quiet space.

Nice Lucca option in a quiet part of town

Friendly staff, clean and updated room, good breakfast, free snacks, coffee and honor spritz bar. I could open the window. Good shower. Good towels. Towel warmer worked. Easy access to the wall for walks.

My room would be small for two people. This is a basic hotel, not in the center of the Centro and not fancy.

Wonderful breakfast, a lot of choices. The location was excellent and the parking at the hotel was very convenient. Staff is very helpful.

We are reasonably tall people and the beds seem a bit shorter than other places we visited on this trip.

Not very welcoming to us - very expensive room which did not give value for money.

Overpriced - we paid £179 but the room was a 3 star at best - small and it felt like we were given the worst room. On checking we were not given a thorough introduction to Lucca like a talk of the local sights, city map and recommendation of places to see / eat. We witnessed other customers receiving this when we checked out !! No room service was available when we arrived after a 5 hour drive.

A nice option for an incredible city

Overall our stay in Lucca was outstanding, and greatly due to our stay in Hotel Ilaria. We got a room upgrade (which was kinda awkward as it was across the street) and bed was comfy and room had a well equipped bathroom. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of options including more international options, and about the same menu was served as afternoon bites, free of charge. Bicycles were provided free of charge and staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel doesn't have as many facilities as a regular 4 star hotel, like gym, pool, or even room frigobar. Bikes were lacking some maintenance, especially regarding break levers. Bathroom shower leaked and soaked the floor.

Well managed, quality hotel, in the city walls, with first class service and facilities

Exceptional customer service and facilities. Room in medieval tower, couple of minutes walk from hotel. Free bikes and beverage counter! Claudia on reception was sparkling. Breakfasts were phenomenal: vg Italian cakes and tarts, plus cereals, eggs, prosciutto etc. Hot tub too, didn't get chance to use.

location is brilliant! hotel modern with ALL modern conveniences. All staff members cheerful, extremely helpful with every request. Wonderful generous breakfast too.

Fantastic location. Amazing service. Modern Hotel.

We loved this hotel. The front staff were all amazing they were fun and helpful especially Ilaria who arranged Pucini tickets and also recommended and booked a fantastic restaurant for us. The hotel had a range of complementary beverages and snacks available all day and the breakfast was fantastic. Could not beat the location, we walked to everything in a few minutes and we also used the free hotel bikes to ride around the wall above the town. We would definately stay again. Hotel provided paid carparking onsite and Hotel was easy to find.

We loved this hotel! The staff were super helpful, the location was fantastic. The room was very clean and spacious. Bicycle hire was a great way to explore the walls of the city. Lots of restaurants close by. We would stay here again!

The location.

The constant smell of sewage as soon and you walk into the hotel and especially mainly in our room. The size of the room was ridiculously small, the bathroom/ shower was small and clearly made for seniors with the high toilet and handle on the side and the shower drainage was terrible. Lastly, our room didn’t have a window, however it had an exit (possibly emergency) door instead that was RIGHT off of the outside terrace where the hotel breakfast was held and the door wasn’t even closed when we arrived to the room. It quite possibly could have stayed open all day and night if I hadn’t checked behind the long curtains that hid the door. I don’t appreciate them not telling me our room lead straight out to the public terrace area with no privacy if we decided to open our curtains.

Highly recommend this hotel!

The staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel was in a great location, and it is a short walk to the train station. The hotel is clean and modern, and maintained very well. Breakfast was delicious, there was a selection a lovely pastries, hams and cheeses, cereals, fruits and lots of breads. The free prosecco from 5-7pm was a lovely touch!

The staff were absolutely lovely. They were so helpful with every single request! Nothing was too much trouble. They organised our taxis for us to a very remote location in the Tuscan Hills! All the staff spoke fabulous English. They served a beautiful breakfast every day which was free. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If they had irons in the room I would give it ten stars! It was an absolute pleasure so stay there. We will definitely return - maybe even this year! It was TOTALLY FABULOUS

One tiny thing: no iron in the room BUT an iron was available in the Laundry Room.

Perfectly situated, wonderful staff

A perfect stay in this beautiful, well-situated hotel, where the Claudia and the other staff took care of all our questions: where to eat (they made a reservation), how to park, how to get tickets for the Puccini concert (they sell them at the reception). Our breakfast was tasty and leisurely. Highly recommended

Very nice hotel but noisy at night and early morning.

Great facilities and location.

Room noisy due to noise travelling through from room.above for example when they flushed toilet or showered or moved case or furniture, noise seemed to be enhanced through ceiling, could hear all the loo water being flushed away so disturbed sleep.

Staff was enourmously friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the afternoon drinks, snacks, and later prosecco time!

The only downside: a green light in the room was too bright, even after the housekeeping had covered it up, it was shining through...
