How to visit Lucca, park a car and sleep well.

A great position just a few minutes walt to the Porto St Pietro gate, across a footbridge over the railway. The car parking was fabulous as it was next to the property and easy to find. The house has been sympathetically renovated in keeping with it's original character although some chairs and paintings would benefit from repair and restoration. Our bedroom was very comfortable with a very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. A kettle and drink making ingredients and some chocolate was a welcome benefit. There was no TV but the 15th century bed with a wonderful mattress and a great quilt more than made up for that and guaranteed a great nights sleep. The solid construction of the house and the lack of any other guests gave us a totally silent night. The bed linen was, I think Egyptian cotton or something similar and it was embroidered and very soft to touch, as were the sumptuous towels and bathroom floor mat. The vast walk in shower had an impressive rainfall head, but lacked a hose for directional cleansing. Breakfast was very good with a selection of bread, Croissant and Focaccia, jams and honey. We each had a dish of blueberries and a plain yoghurt with a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice (from the garden?). We much enjoyed a plate of excellent cured ham before being presented with some freshly baked flatbreads stuffed with cheese and ham and some gorgeous scrambled eggs.

If you have problems with stairs, getting to the bedroom and crossing the footbridge might be an issue.

A super location for a visit to the lovely city of Lucca.

The property is perfectly located just outside the city walls, a short walk and you are in the centre and all of the facilities and attractions of Lucca. The breakfast was very good and plentiful with both hot and cold food provided by the friendly hostess. Car parking is adjacent to the property. The WiFi was reliable and free. The room was very clean and tidy and well serviced throughout our stay.

Excellent location for Lucca and the rest of Tuscany, train station is 3 minutes walk. Excellent spacious accommodation-great hosts Francesco and Giovanna always available for advice and general hospitality.

An excellent base to explore Lucca with very friendly hosts.

Francesco was very helpful in indicating that we could leave the car and our suitcases at the hotel before our room was ready. It was easy to find and Francesco helped us park the car. We were happy with our room which was spacious; unfortunately we had little time to enjoy the balcony. We did not spend a lot of time in the main part of the hotel, although our breakfast was very good and it was nice to talk to Giovanna before we left for the airport.

Comfortable stay in Luca.

The owners and staff very really good. We had a big room with a balcony which was nice looking out on the garden. Great shower and lots hot water. Huge breakfasts, they keep bringing out food! 5 min walk from station and 5 min over rail bridge to the Old city. The front door is right on the road, so you have to watch for cars and bikes when stepping out onto the street.

we had a very enjoyable and memorable stay in a home filled with history and charm

we drove to lucca and the property has some parking spots which was great. the property is very well located for walking access into the walled town. the closest access point does require you to climb a set of railway bridge stairs each way. the property had terrific bath towels, the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. the hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

A great place to stay when visiting Lucca.

It is a beautifully furnished old house - the rooms are well appointed with modern bathrooms. Excellent breakfasts and welcoming hosts.

We weren’t sure about the area at first - but decided it was really good to be near the station and yet only a stone’s throw from the city walls. It’s worth walking a long the nearby aqueduct.

Location - only a short stroll to the walls. The standard of accommodation was exceptional, was very special the Villa was full of charm and character. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful setting. Breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful and comfortable stay in Lucca

The villa is beautiful, very authentic Italian. Our room was spacious, clean and so comfortable. I never slept better on a vacation then here. The bathroom was also very clean and I thing recently renovated, like the shower, sink and toilet, which was a good thing. The delicious breakfast was in a beautifully decorated room where you have a view on the garden. The villa is on a great location. It's nearby the old city of Lucca and also the trainstation. They also have a private parking space right beside their villa, which we used. Overall a great experience!

Hard to come up with something, since everything was great, but the stay would maybe be even better if we could navigate the airco by ourselves and if there was a litte fridge in our room for cold drinks. For the rest everything was perfect!

Location was great. right outside the wall of Lucca. So easy to get in and out. The breakfast was really good and the staff was very nice.

Large rooms, personal touch (owner-led hotel)

Nice house full of history inside, owner- and family-led, which is important to us. Historical center of Luca is just outside, 5 minutes walk – very convenient. We had a parking lot for our car, which also saved time and money. We had a large apartment with 2 bedrooms, which was a great value for money. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, brought to our table instead of wasting it with some kind of buffet. We enjoyed it and will definitely return next time we visit Luca!

Al Porto di Lucca is a welcoming, warm place to stay convenient to both the city and train station.

Just like the name indicates, it is as convenient as one can get to the train station without getting stuck in the traffic hubbub at the front of the station. It is in an updated charming older house, and the owners make every effort to accommodate their guests.
