Fabulous hotel, staff, breakfast, views from the rooms and location.

This was my third stay at this wonderful hotel. The first stay was 16 years ago and I requested a room looking out to the countryside of vineyards and olive trees, and our room was beautiful. Thank you again for reserving our rooms with 180 degree views as they were perfect. Fabulous staff. As we had two small babies, a 1 and 2 year old we needed warm milk in the morning and at night. The staff happily provided us with milk for the children for which we were so grateful. The breakfast area and extensive choices of food were magnificent. The view from the breakfast room was spectacular. The hotel allowed us to drive up to the front door and unload our luggage which was very helpful. This hotel has the Best location to visit the cathedral and shop.

A poor experience for the money spent.

The breakfast was good and the location very convenient. The staff at the restaurant were very supportive.

The room had air conditioning for only one day. The other two days, it was turned off with an explanation that made no sense to me at all. The solution to open the window was a joke when machinery was running all night long, making sleep very difficult. The room was tiny for two people. It must be stated that this is a single room with no option to accommodate two people.

Great for location and family room but not F&B

We were travelling with our teenage daughter so the family room was sufficient for us. The room was split level and we were happy with the configuration. The location was good. We could easily get around on foot. We were fortunate to have parking in front of the hotel.

The F&B was not up to scratch. We had a lagsana, pork sandwich and salad with pork. We were told they were famous for the pork sandwich but it was probably too hyped up and perhaps we expected too much. The breakfast was really disappointing for a 4*. I read reviews of other guests with the same experience. It was self service so for convenience, they had heated eggs and bacon which looked like they sat a long time and a self service coffee machine. I had the impression there was an outdoor terrace area where we could take breakfast but we were told was not open. The outdoor space for a drink was along the road at the hotel entrance. We did have a view from our room (picture) on the first floor but for a drink on the Terrace, we went to the Hotel Giotto. Even there we were lucky to have a drink on the terrace as they are usually booked for weddings. Overall, the room and location suited us. But the F&B was a let down. We did not have the confidence in their signature restaurant and took the rest of the meals outside the hotel.

Nice stay in Assisi with an amazing view

The panorama from the window was amazing and staff very friendly.

The room was probably used for the first time since long and as such when we entered it was a bit dusty. Limescale needs to be removed from the shower.

A delightful property with astounding views in a superbly peaceful location.

The staff was exceptional. We were met at the door and assured with parking (right outside the door) and luggage. The views were absolutely outstanding and made for a refreshing and relaxing stay! Not one but two restaurants are on the property - one is quicker service but very good; at the bottom level is a Michelin starred restaurant providing a dining experience that we are still talking about! We would choose this hotel again for a future stay!

The only negative was visible mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and the top of the bathroom’s window alcove. My wife is super-sensitive to mold and this was a bit of a problem.

Avoid!

Unflushed and dirty toilet not cleaned from previous guest! Air Con not working (until May apparently), room generally grubby, staff unhelpful, parking advertised but in reality you have to be very very lucky to get one …. General public car park difficult to find and not an easy walk with luggage. Breakfast appalling, horrible coffee, stale cakes.

A very good hotel in a magnificent location

The staff was very kind and helpful, the receptionist, the bar tender and the service at the breakfast. The room facing the valley was adorable, the room very comfy and well organized. The bathroom was large and with a beautiful shower

The breakfast .. it was like entering another hotel, it was cold, old and cheap furniture and not at the level of a 4 stars hotel and not in line with the rest of the hotel. I found the choices quite limited, the scrambled eggs were not cooked enough, the ham slices were floating on a bed of fat, so do the beans. The breakfast was the only thing disappointing in our stay.

Good: - The location is excellent. - Beautiful view (paid extra).

Bad: 1) Breakfast: - Raw bacon served next to cooked eggs. - Cakes and pies from dayS before. After three nights, leftover slices from our first breakfast were still served. 2) Bathroom: - Dark and tiny. - The shower door is broken, the bottom slippery, and good luck trying to turn around. 3) Room: - The bottom of the wardrobe is collapsed, under the weight of the minibar and safe that are slanted sideways. 4) Checkout: - We were billed for a second room, but we booked only one room. We had to show our original booking confirmation to get the correct bill. 5) Taxi that the hotel receptionist called (receptionist said, 'he's our usual driver.'): - The hotel receptionist told us we would pay the taxi 50 EUR to drive from Assisi to Perugia, but then the taxi driver billed us 60 EUR. - The taxi driver just dropped us off in Piazza Italia and told us to walk to the hotel (5 minutes away) because he said it wasn't possible to drive any closer to the hotel. But, surprise, we then saw other cabs dropping people off right in front of our hotel.

I had a wonderful time in Fontebella Hotel!

My stay was amazing! During breakfast I met Daniella. She is fantastic, she is very sweet, professional and attentive. Daniella made me feel welcome and confortable. The food was great! In addition to that, the whole Staff was very professional, helpful and kind. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect. However, is the staff that made my stay a fabulous one. Gradzie Mille!
