I booked early at Le Dimore della Custodia because I wanted a charming place that overlooked the Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi. On both counts Le Dimore della Custodia was everything that I hoped for. My correspondence with the "staff" was generally friendly and responsive. For example, they gave me very good restaurant recommendations and satisfactory information about parking. (We arrived to Assisi by car.) We booked a room for three people, and the room would have slept four (in two double beds). In the event, one of the projected three dropped out, but it was too late to change the reservation. It was, at any rate, a large room, very clean and very comfortable. We spent two nights there.
I put "staff" above within scare quotes, as there is no staff at the property (except cleaning staff in the mornings.) The owners are off-site running an agriturismo business. Everything at Le Dimore della Custodia is done impersonally, by remote control. No name was ever signed to correspondece from the property. I can understand why owners and managers do this, but it doesn't mean that I like it. One aspect of it is that they do not send you door codes until the last minute. This is apparently a policy of Booking.com, through which I booked Le Dimore della Custodia. I explained to the correspondent for the property via email on March 14th that I would not be able receive any mail sent to me after noon on March 15th and was promised that they would send me the necessary door codes "by the next morning". They had not sent me the codes by the time I boarded my flight in the afternoon at Stansted Airport. They supposedly sent me an SMS with the door codes at some later time, but no such SMS ever reached my phone (possibly because I was in the air with my phone in flight mode at the time, or possibly because this SMS was never sent). As a result, I stood helpless at the door of Le Dimore della Custodia after dusk unable to enter. The situation was saved by a neighbor who kindly knew how to ring up the agriturismo and got the codes. This embarrassment was a combination of irresponsible Booking.com policy and irresponsibility of the remote control managers of Le Dimore della Custodia, and to say that "I didn't like it" is an understatement.
I said above that I deliberately chose a location the overlooked the Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi. That location, at one extreme end of the walled city of Assisi, had a disadvantage that I hadn't counted on, namely that it was quite far from many of the locations that I particularly wanted to get to.

Posizione fantastica con vista sulla basilica di san Francesco. Bello il terrazzino interno per i momenti di relax. Molto buona L’ampiezza della stanza e del bagno fornito di una doccia estremamente comoda.
La Mancanza di pulizie giornaliere e di una presenza nella struttura per assistenza. Anche se telefonicamente ci hanno sempre risposto in maniera puntuale

Vicinissimo alla Basilica di San Francesco, la vista dalle finestre é spettacolare! la stanza é spaziosa, I letti sono comodi, pulizia impeccabile. Gestori sono gentili e disponibili.
