There is nothing that I didn’t like. Maybe if you are looking for a super modern hotel this is not the place for you, but why would you want that if you are visiting a city like this 🤔?

A wonderful comfortable retreat in the heart of Assisi

The hotel is wonderfully situated just off the main piazza in Assisi. It has superb views and beautiful areas to relax and enjoy the setting.

The breakfast was self service and was fine, but there are amazing cafes just on your doorstep with better coffee and more tasty pastries.

Good location with much potential to move from average to great

Hotel is tired ( black marks (mould?) on bathroom ceilings due to inadequate ventilation), breakfast was of 2000 style - eg processed cheese slices! No in room kettles or coffee machine .

A wonderful boutique hotel providing easy access to all the sites & services in Assisi.

The property has a nice lived in feel. The staff were most helpful. Breakfasts were very good. The two terraces provide opportunities to relax outside. There were several rooms where I could read comfortably, sine I was in a twin.. The hotel is right off the communal plaza & allows easy access to both sides of town.

I had to watch the step up into the bathroom. I tripped there a couple of times. Perhaps some reflective tape would’ve a reminder.

Excellent venue, so central and wonderful, helpful staff

The location was excellent, close to the square, the Churches, restaurants; the staff were excellent and very helpful. In all, we had a very pleasant stay.

A little jewel in the middle of a beautiful city.

The hotel is like walking back in the past. If you want ultra modern then this is not the place for you. It’s charming and full of character. It has good WiFi, hot showers and a comfy bed. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly! There’s plenty to eat at breakfast and it is well organised. Brilliant location, you can walk to all the sites from the hotel. If you have mobility issues you can drop your luggage off right near the hotel. There’s also a lift in the hotel.

It was a little too noisy but I suppose I should have expected that being that we were staying in the middle of the city.

A blessed sanctuary in a blessed town

This hotel is truly a secret gem in Assisi! The owner, Senora Leandra Laudenzi, is a most gracious and endearing hostess. She oversees the daily activities of the hotel and is exceptionally attentive to ensuring every guest feels at home throughout their stay. The Front Office staff of Paula and Marco were exceptionally helpful in advising and assisting with local tour arrangements. The Front Desk Manager, Carlo, is the very definition of "hospitality"! His advice on restaurants, including a brief guide on Italian cuisine, made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast service manager, Anna, was also exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ensuring you were completely satisfied with your meal. The croissants were incredible, and the ever-flowing chocolate Nutella was a very sweet touch to the breakfast smorgasbord. But it is the ambiance of the hotel that is most remarkable and unforgettable! The garden perugula offers a serene respite after a day of walking the town. And the upper terraces offer spectacular views across the entire Assisi valley, with vistas of 40 or more miles. The rooms are large, air-conditioned, and spotless! Overall, the hotel is so exceptionally comfortable that you will never want to leave - it's that cozy!!!! Located at the top of the town, right off the plaza of the MInerva temple - I found this hotel to be a very charming sanctuary in the blessed town of Assisi!

Assisi is a beautiful area. I’m just not sure I would choose this hotel again.

The location. Assisi is beautiful. The hotel is conveniently located in close proximity to some great landmarks. The balconies and view if you are lucky enough to get a room that has anything but brick outside the window were phenomenal.

We stayed in a room which was adjoined to a “storage room only accessible by the staff”. It was somewhat creepy to know that staff was on the other side of the door throughout the night and day. Also the attempt to retrofit our room was unsuccessful. Our shower head was positioned so that the person showering must stand sideways in the tub. It became dangerous because the tub was a soaker tub and hence more narrow. In order to shower you had to stand on the portions of the tub that bowed upwards. I slipped several times attempting to get out of the tub. We also had a pigeon nest outside of our bathroom window. We couldn’t open the window in the bathroom because of the noise and bird feces. I also did not like that we had to leave our key with staff each time we left the hotel. I just don’t see how this is safe. Staff claimed it was a safety measure in case you lost your key. The hotel needs to make and keep an extra copy of the room key and charge patrons should they lose their key. Or update your key to the room keys that can be swiped and switch the key out if it is lost. It was unsettling that anyone could come in and give a room number and receive a key.

Wonderful.

The location of the hotel is amazing and although it is central, it was very quiet at night. The bedding and furniture are a little dated but the ambiance of the old place, the generous room and airy space, the comfortable spaces outside my room where I could relax and the view from my balcony more than made up for any deficits. Breakfast service and variety were very good. I would happily stay here again.

Great location, romantic, and the staff is wonderful!

Hotel Umbra is such a soulful and original hotel. You walk in to this little wonderful shrine-like garden with plants and flowers, great first impression. It’s interior is eclectic, but in a very good way, romantic and also like being in another time. So many details. I felt like it was a home. It was clean and very welcoming. The staff is fantastic! When I got sick during my stay, I felt true care from the staff. They called me at the hospital and arranged for a taxi to bring me some things, and their hospitality and friendlyness is the most warming memory I have from my stay. I truly recommend it. There is a beautiful view and a nice terrasse. The location is perfect. I am coming back with my family, and willl stay at Hotel Umbria.

Very enjoyable stay and we are already planning a return trip.

The location is perfect, right off the main square. The room was a nice size and the view was great. Beautiful courtyard that overlooks the valley. The front desk was especially helpful to us, going above and beyond trying to help us contact the cab driver who drove us there from the train station. They also gave us good recommendations for restaurants that the locals go to. When we come back to Assisi, we will stay here again.

The only minor complaint we had is the breakfast is just ok. But, there was plenty from which to choose, so you can fill up before heading out. A note to other travelers: the restaurant at the hotel was closed. Breakfast was served, but that was it. However, there are several restaurants very close by.

Excellent stay in beautiful Assisi

Everything about Hotel Umbra was excellent: very central location and easy to locate - very organised reception team - gave us maps, interesting and important information straight away on arrival - spotlessly clean - immaculate - lovely ambiance in the hotel with beautiful potted plants and very nice and secluded sitting areas with beautiful views - breakfast staff were very nice and relaxed. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. It is rated 3 star but certainly felt like it was a higher rating. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Absolutely wonderful!!!

I can't speak highly enough of this Hotel. Our room was absolutely beautiful, the view was fantastic and it was a great size. The Hotel is down a very short alleyway from the main square in Assisi so right in the centre. Breakfasts were substantial and delicious. One of the added bonuses of this Hotel are the sitting areas both outside and inside. It is beautifully maintained and incredible value for money. I believe the owners may be several generations of a family and were always so friendly and efficient. We plan to travel to Assisi again in a couple of years and will most definitely be booking way ahead so that we can stay in this beautiful Hotel again.
