The property is absolutely beautiful and the location is stunning. The whole thing is curated wonderfully. The breakfast was delicious. The location is on a very steep hill, but everything is around there, it's part of the charm.
We ended up feeling uncomfortable. We got the sense from the host that we didn't really belong at the hotel and weren't really welcome. This tainted our whole stay. The service was provided, but all felt a little grudging. The breakfast selection process was over-engineered and faintly ridiculous, but the breakfast itself was delicious. We have stayed at hundreds of hotels of all sizes over the world and this check-in experience was unique and just weird and awkward. So, it was a difficult stay for us. We really wanted to like it but came away feeling like we weren't really good enough to stay there, which it's hard to look past if you are supposed to be enjoying yourself. Oh, and make sure you are comfortable with the width of your car as the road up to the hotel and the parking on the drive is tight.

It’s comfortable with great views from its elevated position and really clean. The breakfasts were really good
The elevated location on a steep hill means anyone with asthma or arthritis may need a taxi to get back up the hill from Lynton village unless they take their car
Checkin felt a bit like a millitary operation with a form and lots of questions

Highcliffe House truly lives up to its name. Perched high above Lynton, it offers spectacular views and a peaceful retreat. After days spent hiking, exploring, and even swimming in the Bristol Channel, it was a joy to return to the comfort of our room each evening.

Excellent breakfast with wide (if not a little complicated) choice of options. Hosts Robert and Richard were amazing with the care and attention they offered.
The steep climb to the house is a challenge particularly after dinner in the excellent restaurants in Lynton. Parking spaces are available but navigating them can be tricky.

The hotel has a fantastic location – close to the city center, yet the views are simply breathtaking. Having an elegant breakfast each morning in the orangery overlooking the sea was pure luxury.
Everything was absolutely fabulous.

Exceptionally clean and gorgeously decorated, the attention to detail is flawless and the view even more so. The location is perfect – a 5 minute walk back after dinner in one of the fab restaurants, and we were able to hike two wonderful routes straight from the house.
All this and I haven’t even touched upon the delicious breakfasts, nor the perfect hosts – Richard and Robert. We can’t wait to stay again.

We liked the attention paid to details and the hospitality and care shown by Robert and Richard who take great pride in their establishment and in their hosting of guests who stay here. It was indeed a luxury B & B experience for us and we loved the cleanliness of the room , the bathroom as well as the comfortable bed and soft towels. Breakfast porridge was also the best!
Nope it was a perfect stay for us .

Amazing position, lovely views and fantastic hosts - like a home from home.
The quality and choice of breakfasts were outstanding - a real highlight every morning. Attention to detail was excellent from the changing crockery and cutlery to the little extras in the room.
The area was very special indeed - we will definitely be back.
The bathroom in our room was quite dated and could do with modernisation.
While the breakfast was simply stunning I would have preferred a less rigid system of booking a time slot. My husband didn’t mind so much but we stayed for 3 nights and I don’t always want to get up and have breakfast at the same time each day. However it was still a beautiful breakfast and we enjoyed the stunning views out to sea every morning.

Very welcoming. Clean and professional kept place. Great information which lead to no questions from us. Carparking is not easy but well explained on how to do so to the benefit of all guests. Service for a few cheeky drinks was quick and reasonably priced. Hosts were just that, hosts! Breakfast was amazing. We would definitely recommend and stay there again. 😊

Superb food, setting and views, public rooms and terrace. Large bedroom.
Poky bathroom and shower with scarcely room to dry yourself.
Idiosyncratic furnishing of bedroom - chest of drawers in front of radiator, small tv in front of wall mirror
Bed OK but not as comfortable as most hotels are these days
Very steep walk to & from village (though this is Lynton)

Fabulous views, room and location. The quality of our breakfast food was fantastic. The breakfast parfait was divine.
We would have liked a little more flexibility over the breakfast timings . occasionally we felt rushed over the breakfast, which was a shame because the food was so wonderful.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at High Cliff House in Lynton during our journey through the stunning landscapes of South England. Without a doubt, this was the most beautiful and inviting place we have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were spellbound by the immaculate decor and cleanliness that greeted us.
Our room was an absolute delight - spacious, cozy, and impeccably neat. The interior design and breathtaking views from our window left us in awe. We could not have asked for a more delightful setting to unwind and soak in the picturesque surroundings.
What truly sets High Cliff House apart is the warmth and kindness of the owners. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with anything we needed. We instantly felt at home in their presence, and their genuine hospitality made our stay even more memorable.
Regrettably, we couldn't extend our visit as much as we would have liked, as we were captivated by the heavenly breakfast. It was a delight for the senses, and we savored every moment of it.
Rest assured, we have already vowed to return to High Cliff House for a longer stay. It's a place that has stolen our hearts, and we cannot wait to relive the enchantment and create more cherished memories.
Thank you, High Cliff House, for making our stay an extraordinary one! We wholeheartedly recommend this charming haven to anyone seeking an unforgettable escape amidst nature's beauty and genuine hospitality.

l Everything was perfect, starting with the room, which was lovingly decorated and very clean. The hosts were very friendly.
The hosts personally took us to the room, explaining everything. It was perfect.
The location of the hotel offers spectacular views.
The location of the B&B is basically very good, however, the B&B is located above the village of Lynton, as well as Lynmouth in a steep slope, whereby it can be very tiring to walk back up after a dinner. However, there are cabs.

We simply adored every minute of our stay in this wonderfully appointed property. From our first greeting to our reluctant goodbyes it offered an oasis of calm and a truly restful and restorative break. The hosts, being seasoned travellers themselves, went above and beyond and clearly understand how to make their guests feel at home. The breakfasts were sublime and the welcome afternoon tea set the tone for a memorable stay in the lovely Devon. We hope to return some day.

This excellent accommodation was the finishing highlight of our 2 week round trip in Cornwall. I am always very involved in the selection of accommodation and have travelled to many countries and experienced a wide variety of accommodation through many years of employment with major international airlines. When I came across the highcliffehouse on the internet, it was very clear that I had to go there. In the end, I planned my entire trip accordingly. The property alone is very majestic, towering over the city and the bay. On arrival, we were immediately greeted in a very friendly manner by Richard and invited to tea and biscuits in one of the very appealing rooms. A pleasant scent hovers in the house, which I also find important and inviting. The furniture is very tastefully chosen, the many paintings are also stunning. Our room left nothing to be desired. The bed was very comfortable, the bed linen fantastic, as was the towelling. Additional amenities were the charging possibilities for mobile devices, the very detailed information on restaurants, excursions, etc. which can be found on the tablet provided and also the possibility to prepare coffee or tea in the room. A lovely ending to our two evenings after a restaurant visit was a pleasant glass of wine either in the drawing room or the bar. I would also like to praise the first-class breakfast served to us by Robert. There is definitely something for any taste. The quality and presentation of the food is outstanding. The atmosphere is relaxed and you really do enjoy your stay. Richard and Robert are exceptionally accommodating hosts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again, give them our wholehearted recommendation and wish them all the best until we meet again. xxxooo Andrea
