Rockvale House

Super comfortable stay . Hosts were great . Lovely cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend, hope to go back one day .

Rockvale House is in a great location for views over Lynton; is spacious and immaculately clean. However what elevated it to a first rate stay was the attention of owners Ness and Phil. They had thought about every detail of their guests' stay and devised the best breakfast I have ever experienced - home baked bread, homemade preserves, local butcher's products - guests could chose from a varied menu so that every morning offered something different. Their cheerful and charming demeanour brightened our morning and, when we returned in the evening we could have a drink at the outdoor terrace with fabulous views over the town.

The hosts were really lovely and very helpful. The sitting room and bar were beautifully decorated rooms to sit and relax in. The bar having a lovely view and a big sofa to curl up in. The dining room was also light and airy. The food was perfect; beautifully and freshly cooked (unless plant-based then it was limited)

The room was a disappointing due to being in the eaves with the beams restricting ease of movement around the room. The floor measurement online seemed adequate and the beams were included in the pictures online. However it wasn't clear just how restricted it would be. The bedroom was on the cool side but we were given a small heater which we used. The ensuite was also limited although as described, however was incredibly cold despite the heater being on in the bedroom. To get to the additional bathroom where we could stand up to shower was a great but the short walk to an 'ensuite' across the shared landing not ideal. Especially taking the cost of our stay into consideration. With regard to food - plant based options were limited although provided.
