Amazing hosts and property!

The whole experience was amazing! The ambiance, cozy fire, friendliness of the hosts, well-appointed furnishings, and a great breakfast were some of the best I've had. I would definitely stay here again

Walking down/up the hill to/from the main road to restaurants in the dark was tricky; luckily we had a torch available.

Perfect!

Very warm welcome as we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and the entire property were perfectly clean, warm and well furnished. The owners and staff were very friendly and efficient in providing an excellent service.

A great place to stay

Ness and Phil were outstanding hosts, very attentive and always welcoming. The house was located centrally with good access to everywhere, we used it as a base for our exploring. The best thing was their breakfast, a great selection and well cooked. The rooms has a good selection of toiletries and even robes

Perfect hosts and even better breakfast

The hosts Ness and Phil made us feel so welcome. Their hospitality knew no bounds and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was to die for and made with love. Homemade muesli, bread and jams! and with a beautiful view.

The mattress on the extra large bed was far too soft. I felt like it was in a dip and my husband felt like he was going to roll out. Not a wink of sleep but the people and breakfast made it for us.

Charming hosts and delicious food 🙂

This place is from a different time - in a very good way! A time when hosts genuinely valued their guests and making their stay as special as possible. Ness and Phil made us feel like old friends returning, although it was our first stay. Ness' delicious food and Phil's charming service set this place apart from the usual perfunctory run-of-the-mill hotels. We will be back!

Long weekend break

Fantastic hosts, nothing too much trouble. Absolutely loved our stay. Breakfast was great, room was clean and cosy. Bed was huge and comfortable. Phil and Ness a pleasure to be around. Location was fantastic, 2 min walk from just about everything. We will return!! Thank you Phil and Ness.

A wonderful time away, attentive hosts in a beautiful location. What more could we ask for?

Beautiful location. Set back from the main road but only a short walk from the shops and restaurants. Near to the fascinating mountain railway. Our hosts Phil and Ness were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast each morning was superb and they were so kind and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate at some amazing restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed some simple coastal walks with breathtaking scenery.

We really could not fault Rockvale House but be prepared for the steep hill walk from the town of Lynton to the coastal area or Lynmouth.

Wonderful stay at Rockvale House

We had a wonderful stay at Rockvale House! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome and at home. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it really added a personal touch to our trip. The house itself was comfortable, spotless, and full of charm. Amazing breakfast. Everything we needed was provided, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will definitely comeback.

Comfortable Accommodation in Lynton

Phil and Ness Moyle, the owners, were such kind helpful people - nothing too much trouble. A homely and comfortable guest house. Room was comfortable with an amazing view of the valley. An great choice at breakfast with home made bread and jams. Close to restaurants, Valley of the Rocks coastal walks, funicular railway to Lynmouth. Further afield RHS Rosemoor, Dunster Castle, Arlington Court. Beautiful area with very steep hills so not for the feint hearted but if you are a walker Rockvale is ideal.

Feel bathrooms could do with a heated towel rail as towels do not dry for next use. Only option was to ask for fresh towels. Strip light above bathroom mirror didn't work.

The owners are delightful; very friendly and helpful. Lots of local information available. You can use their car park if you arrive early and also after check-out. Room very clean and comfortable, with provision of welcome chocolate, tea/coffee/fresh milk/biscuits and bottled water. Fabulous breakfast, including homemade bread, jam and marmalade.

The breakfast table was unusually long. It was difficult to have a conversation without being overheard.

A home away from home in north Devon

We love Lynton. It is a super base for exploring the wonderul countryside around. Rockvale is suitably perched above the town within five minutes of everything you need. And a nice bracing walk back up to your accommodation to fulfil your exercise needs. I like the fact you can park right outside. Hosts Ness and Phil run an exceptional establishment in a professional and light hearted manner. One to return to!

Okay maybe it gets a little cloudy in North Devon from time to time but it's still beautiful!

Above all in location and hospitality.

A great place to stay in Lynton. A historic house poised above Lynton. Friendly and welcoming hosts, Ness and Phil. The breakfast choices are many and varied but everyone is delicious. Rooms areas expected in a historic building but they take extra care to assure everything operates flawlessly. Rooms areas expected on several floors but Phil will help with lugging luggage if needed. Lots of walking opportunities.

Nessa and Phil were excellent hosts during our brief stay. They were very welcoming and gave us useful initial information about the local area and places to visit. They were very happy for us to come and go as we pleased but always available if needed. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned every day with fresh towels and shower gel etc. We enjoyed Nessa's delicious breakfasts and Phil's accomplished role as 'waiter'.

It would have been nice to have a room with a view over the town and valley but this is a minor point.

A lovely guesthouse with excellent friendly hosts. The guesthouse was centrally located.

The cooked breakfast was excellent. There were several choices for breakfast eg fruit juice, cereals and yoghurts. Cooked breakfasts could be tailored to your preferences. After eating breakfast at Rockvale, you didn’t need to eat annything else until later in the day/evening!

Nothing! This is our second visit to Rockvale and we thoroughly recommend it. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts, Nessa and Phil. They went out of their way to make you feel at home.

By far the best B&B we have stayed in, and will definitely stay again if in the area 😊

The owners (Ness & Phil) were extremely welcoming, most attentive, and made us feel more like friends than strangers passing through. Our room was very clean and comfortable with crisp linen and lovely white towels, and aside from the generous size cups, fresh milk was available in a fridge on the landing. I hate those little tubs of long life milk so this was a very welcomed big bonus for me as a person unable to function without my first cup of decent coffee! A card was provided each day with the choices for the following days’ breakfast and what time you wanted it (very flexible). There was a wide choice, with plentiful quality produce cooked fresh for your desired time. Service was always with a smile, friendly, and attention to detail. Each time we saw the owners they took time to ask how our day had been. We felt they were genuinely interested; not just going through the motion. After checking out I discovered a Seagull had left a ‘message’ down my passenger window. I went back and asked if I could have some water and paper towel to clean it. Phil told me he would bring it to me in the car park. He arrived armed with a bucket of soapy water and ‘Marigolds’ on, and insisted that he clean it for me. Nothing was too much trouble, and over and above attention to the very end!

There was absolutely nothing to complain about.
