Clean, simple and comfortable room. Spacious room and bathroom - sea view to the right. Tea, coffee etc. Friendly & helpful staff. Parking easy (first come, first served: 5 or 6 spaces) - and only £6 overnight. Good location: close to church and Cliff Railway. Lovely old Art Deco building.

Revisiting lovely part of Devon and may well come back but will NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN! I understood from Agoda that the hotel had free parking and a restaurant- they have neither. Being totally unaware of the true situation with parking, we managed to fit our car in the small car park where my son noticed a sign that it was necessary to book and pay in advance. Upon trying to check in, I queried the lack of parking only to be shouted at, by Rachel, to 'Get your car out', repeatedly. Rather than apologise about the position re parking, and explain where parking was available nearby, Rachel proceeded to direct a tirade of abuse towards me, calling me very rude (!) and threatening not to let us stay! At no point during our stay did the word 'sorry' pass her lips. In fact, she shouted out that I was a 'stupid bitch' when we left to go home. She was certainly the most unpleasant woman I've ever had the misfortune to encounter! We did, however, meet another staff member on reception called Jock, who was professional, helpful and friendly. The hotel building, although splendid and with ornate Victorian features was soulless with few guests, and a shadow of its' former glory. The bar was not operating, nor was the restaurant. Breakfast seemed to be available on Friday to Sundays if booked in advance, subject to there being sufficient demand. Our room appeared to have recently been renovated, with a large shower, but there was no hairdryer in the room. Our room was not cleaned during out 2 night stay, nor the beds made. I feel this may have been down to Rachel, who clearly bears grudges.
