Unloved, dirty. In need of a full refurb.

The location was excellent, the breakfast fine, bed comfortable.

Room 3 has the large kitchen extractor outside the window, impossible to ignore. Moved to room 4 which was quieter, but initially told we would pay extra, so we said we would rather go home, and then key handed over... The bathroom was horrendous, poor state of repair. The windows were all chained to stop them opening more than a tiny amount, impossible to escape in a fire. It was dirty and unloved. Zero sound insulation, could hear the full conversations in the bar/ lounge area below.

Great stay in Lynton

Great place to stay, great location easy walk all over the village. Easy walk to the cliff railway down to Lynmouth, a must do! Nice staff, huge room, coffee machine as well! We had dinner here, which was lovely! Delicious breakfast with great options. Parking at the rear of the hotel was really handy.

Everything about our stay was great. I would definitely recommend staying here. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

Pub quality accommodation in need of upgrade

A good location and a good cooked breakfast.

The room was very tired. The coffee making machine didn’t work and the waste bin was overflowing from the previous guest. Car park could not be pre booked and operated on a first come first served basis.

Good but understaffed hotel

The Crown was in a great location and the staff were happy to accept walkers at the end of the Two Moors Way - we were cleaner at the beginning!!

The staff were very stretched, which led to long wait times at every meal. The starter we ordered never came and was not apologised for, and although the staff were pleasant, they clearly were not set up to succeed and more of them would have made a huge difference.

Very good family stay

The woman on check in and breakfast (1st August) was fantastic and went above and beyond to help me and my two small kids. She made our trip. The breakfast was great; the room was comfy and well located in lynton. Would recommend.

Breakfast didn’t start until 8:30, which my 3 year old found quite late. BUT good delicious and good quality ingredients

It’s was the most affordable in the region , very friendly staff and very good breakfasts

There was no free oarkingspace for my car so had to pay at the nearby parkinglot. Not a disaster but is another £10,-.

A really lovely stay.

The location was great. We had dinner as well as breakfast and both were excellent. The choice for breakfast especially was really good. Both waitresses were friendly and efficient. The waitress for dinner dealt exceptionally well with a very busy restaurant.

The only faults I can find is that it was difficult to find staff when you needed them. Also the coffee machine in the bedroom seemed very complicated to work and in fact leaked. We were able to obtain a kettle which was much better. I think that probably a lot of people would prefer that option, especially as coffee machines all seem to differ

Have been visiting Lynton/Lynmouth for the past ten years. This was the first time staying at the Crown, I will be staying again next year. Absolutely wonderful, can't fault it.

Beautiful hotel with great food!

Beautiful little hotel in lovely Lynton with great staff and extremely comfortable rooms. They had thoughtful arrangements for coffee and even had extra pillows and fan in case anyone needed it! The beds are comfortable and the food surpassed my expectation as it was excellent!

Fabulous stay at the Crown Hotel

Staff were very welcoming & friendly, as was the whole atmosphere of the hotel. Our room was clean, spacious, relaxing, and quiet. Breakfast was excellent; very tasty & cooked to perfection. We also thoroughly enjoyed our evening meals; there was a good menu choice and our food was always served with a smile.

At breakfast no cereals or juices etc.out for people to get.had to ask for everything you wanted.We wanted a decent cooked meal later in day as it was sunday.was told by bar staff none available so had to pick off bar menu,which was rubbish.After all that we noticed resteraunt was open hour later.We should have been told that we could have booked a table earlier butbar staff had no idea.

A great value stay in the heart of the lovely town of Lynton. Will go back!

Cooked English breakfast waa great, also juice and a pot of tea served by a very nice lady. Able to cater for Gluten free as well which was a bonus. Also enjoyed time in the pub the evening before.

Car park was a little tight due to temporary scaffolding on an adjacent property, but we got parked. The historic building is lovely, but the stairs being steep and narrow could be an issue for less able bodied guests. However the staff offered to carry luggage up them if we had a problem (which we didn't).

convenient location

Good situation if you are lucky enough to be able to park there which we were. Food is fairly good pub food and staff were nice. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice.

the bathroom was beyond tiny and anyone of more than roughly average size wouldn't fit in and certainly the shower was almost impossible to access as gap is tiny. The bedroom window opened onto a roof where the kitchen extraction was and therefore was very noisy.

Beds for both guests were comfortable and the hotel was quiet

There was no proper shower in one of the rooms only a rubber attachment to bath taps that didn’t work kept coming off Had to share shower with my sister in her room The opening into this shower cubicle was not very wide a squeeze to get in without hurting oneself a larger figure would have been unable to use it There was also an electric socket loose and coming away from the wall inside a wardrobe On arrival we were shown to one room I explained we had booked two separate rooms two adults two nights we were given a further room but were told we were lucky they had one left No proper apology from staff when shown the confirmation booking receipt
