Basel it is fantastic!

The hotel it is just in the old city heart, the wiew it is fantastic (even though my room didn't have a view of the Rhine!) and the old city is just few steep!

Without reception and without human staff, you have a strange, insecure feeling when checking in!

It was fine. Location quite central. The bed was comfortable. It was more quiet than I had expected, given that it was close to the tram.

The front desk has beed replaced by auto-check-in tablets, that's fine but it gives it a slightly creepy air, people were sort of milling about that didn't seem to be staying there so made me a bit nervous as I was alone. The bathroom was quite old and could do with a refresh. The room could do with a freshening up to. They have a great location, so shame to let it go a bit seedy.

Top location, near to everything

The location was amazing, free coffee, smooth self-check-in, everything correct and good value for money.

Just the bed is kinda disappointing as it's not a real bed but a sofa bed so either 1 person or if sleeping together both ppl will be uncomfy

Great basic place in a brilliant location

No person on reception and so check in was very difficult as we had not received the correct emails. Staff who helped by phone were very good and the situation was sorted quickly.

My worst experience is that it is fully automated hotel. No lobby. You have a computer to create your card keys. I didn’t see a single person. You open a coffee room for breakfast. There are croissants and coffee and a fridge with drinks that you open with your card. But no human touch at all. Atmosphere is VERY COLD. I have to admit that the room is clean even VERY basic. Had nice balcony with the view of the river. I enjoyed it a lot. So if you anti-social - it would be the best place for you. I think Booking should have some mark that the hotel is fully automated.

The hotel is only ok but The view makes it worth it!

The view cannot be beat! What a location - and the little balcony was totally worth getting!! It was also great to be able to book at the last minute (as our other accommodation had fallen through)

Not having any parking options was a real challenge! I would like a kettle in the room (vs having to go downstairs to the common room…which made it feel like an upscale youth hostel)

Location.

I have stayed in this hotel several times and it was very nice. It faces the rive Rhine and there used to be a breakfast buffet with an access to an open-air terrace. All this is gone. Now it is a self check-in and no staff to be seen anywhere during the day except for the cleaners in the morning. The room had no coat hangers and insufficient towels. There was no bathroom amenities like in the past. We had to call a number provided with the reservation to ask for coat hangers and towels. This is very inconvenient and bad service. Breakfast was included in the form of croissants and coffee downstairs, very messy and not clean. Everything looks run down. The price of rooms stayed the same, it is not cheaper.

Worst value for money I've had in a long time.

Room was clean, the bed was good.

So many things that are bad about this hotel. First, it's terrible value for money. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Not even a glass for tap water in the room. Room design was really poor, making less of the space than it was. Very noisy in the morning due to the old building, no AC or ventilation, it was 26°C in the room and too loud outside to make opening a window a good option.

Highly recommended!

The view of the old bridge across the Rhine is incomparable! The staff was so very helpful in making recommendations. And the BEST Italian restaurant (Sonne) - is only steps from the hotel.

We stayed on the 5th floor. There is no AC, but the fan works fairly well, and we kept the large window open. There is also an awning and screen that can be used to block the sun during the hottest parts of the day. Too soft of pillows. But, many choices of pillows are available, at your request.

Threadbare carpet on entrance steps gave a bad first impression. Bad for the profile of your hotel! Suggest you replace as a matter of urgency.

Very nice hotel in a convenient location in central Basel right next to the Rhine. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, they provided cards for free public transport and money off museums for our stay, the breakfast was very nice and the hotel had everything we needed. Would happily stay again
