The location was great, the staff were excellent, so helpful, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was fantastic. The beds were really comfortable and the rooms were spotlessly clean.

The overall experience was very good ! I loved the breakfast.

The location was ideal as it was just next to the train station and the tram to the city center take just 5 minutes. The room was very nice. The breakfast was exceptional. I liked a lot the regional products offered and the efforts to combat food waste. There was a good choice of bread, cheese, eggs etc.

The bed lights were a bit low, so you needed to keep the main lights on to read in the bed. In general I'm not in favor of carpet and would have preferred wooden flooring, but this is not essential.

Another wonderful stay

Always a home away from home with the excellent service rendered by all the staff. Location is perfect for travel, F & B etc...the local tram bring you to all the places that one is likely to visit whether on business or leisure.

Gaia staff are exceptional. Really liked the Basel Pass included with reservation. Breakfast was terrific and also the cappucino! It is a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend.

The rooms on the street are quiet overall, but they really need room- darkening shades because the street lights in that area around the station are glaringly bright.

One of a kind gem in a great location.

Friendly and welcoming. Great location near to transport links. Breakfast was lovely and the refreshments provided in the room were great too.

Room was a little too warm, even after adjusting the heating and air conditioning. But this was a very small gripe on an overall excellent stay

Proximity to the station is one of the few pluses. Historic building. Bathrooms were great.

Too pricy for what you get, compare to other hotels

The reception desk officers were very friendly and assisting. We were fortunate to have a corner room with lots of light and it had electric shades so you could make it dark, good for an afternoon nap (if you prefer siësta or take a rest after a tiring business meeting). The room was the most expensive on our 5 day trip but everything in the minibar was free to consume. Normally the items from the minibar are very expensive in hotels.

Very small elevator. Breakfast was minor to other (cheaper) hotels we stayed at. The lady in charge of the breakfast room could have been more friendly and accomodating, she gave more the impression that she was doing it for the monthly pay check only. The breakfast staff in other hotels we stayed during our trip, were much more friendly.

Weekend stay in Basel

Very good hotel next to the central station in Basel and hence perfectly located for getting around. Free public transport was included in the room rate so it was just a case of getting on a bus or tram. My room was a quite decent size. The breakfast buffet was extensive and varied and the lady present welcomed everyone with a smile. I will look for this hotel again when visiting Basel next time.

Again, another great stay

Repeated stays for several years. The service, breakfast and room are always great. Felt like home away from home. Location is superb..right outside SBB Basel train station and the main tram station to various places across Basel land. Access to many types of cuisines & good restaurants within walking distances or short tram rides. Coop supermarket is right next door and Migros supermarket is at the SBB station.

Location is perfect, next to train station and still rather quiet at night. Room clean.

Reception team was not friendly and the A/C in the room is made with a tube that goes out to the window, meaning that window has to remain partially opened all the time. Room is small.
