A fantastic basic hotel for attending events at Messe.

I stayed for Eurovision, which had events at the nearby Messe complex. This is a straight forward and basic hotel in a fantastic location with surprisingly spacious rooms. I paid an inflated rate for Eurovision week, but this was 'only' double their base price, which was actually pretty good value compared with other properties in Basel. Communication with the friendly manager was clear and helpful. The room was spotless, basically furnished, but well equipped, I appreciated the full size fridge and delightful balcony. it was also extremely quiet which was fantastic. Breakfast was classic German style with meats, cheeses and bread. I was also helped with a very much appreciated late check out.

The mattress in my room was at the end of it's life and could use replacing. Breakfast hours are limited (ends 0930)

Very good stay near Messe

Small hotel in a quiet street very close to Messe. Clean and functional room, with balcony. Excellent welcome by the staff. Comfortable bed

Very wel organized and well-maintained hotel. Very good price-quality. Friendly personnel. Good breakfast. Nice location, next to MessePlatz, in the city center and direct access to all tram lines that bring you everywhere in the city.

WiFi on the desk in my room (where you typically sit with your laptop) was not goog. Some places in my room ok. Not sure if this is the case in all rooms.

Extremely good.

The location is near the Messeplatz, get a number 2 tram from the station. The room had a balcony – excellent! – as well as a fridge, safe and proper wardrobe. The staff were all very helpful; one carried my bag to the lift, another made scrambled eggs and coffee to order at breakfast time. The reception isn't always manned but there does seem to be someone around all the time, and the room key works on one of the front doors, so guests can come as go as they please. I was rung by the hotel the day before to ask my approximate arrival time, so when I turned up they were expecting just me. Make sure you get a Basel Card from the hotel if you are a tourist.

Great stay near Messe!

Hotel Locanda was great. No Lobby, definitely very simple but the rooms were big, mine had a nice and comfortable balcony, everything was clean and it was very close to Messe, shops and tram stops. Really good experience

Ich wurde sehr freundlich begrüsst und empfangen. Es wurde mir alles beim Check In erklärt, auch mit dem Hinweis auf das WLAN Passwort. Eine Woche vor der Anreise wurde ich sogar telefonisch angefragt, ob meine Check In Zeit noch stimme.

Total zentrale Lage, gute Erreichbarkeit zu Fuss. Sehr freundliche Betreuung, herzlich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer sind freundlich und zweckmässig eingerichtet.

Für die zentrale Lage muss man etwas Lärm von draussen in Kauf nehmen. Die Fenster sind jedoch sehr gut isoliert und dadurch ist ein ruhig.
