Fuori Porta House

We loved the location, the bar, the breakfast and the staff who were all exceptionally helpful and friendly. It is spotlessly clean and the design looks good. So I feel a bit bad with the next bit which is the negatives…

The rooms need attention - the air conditioning in the first room had to be heard to be believed. I have a video and audio recording of the noise - truly awful. Like a jet engine taking off with a high pitched screeching over the top. To be fair to the staff they attempted to rectify it by switching the air con completely off and on again at the mains but it didn’t work so they moved us to another room where the noise was marginally better but this is an issue that needs sorting out. There are other design faults too - there is a tea tray but no plug socket so you have to put the kettle on the floor to reach the socket. The flex on the kettle was threadbare and dangerous. The large floor lamp didn’t work. The toilet door swings both ways and smashes into the bidet every time you open it so it’s a minor miracle that it didn’t shatter into smithereens. The basin is positioned in such a way that you bang your thighs into the sharp edged handles every time you walk past. The curtains don’t shut so sun beams into your eyes at dawn. I could go on.

This hotel is immediately outside of the walls (as the name implies), so it's convenient and quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast has good variety.

Housekeeping replaces towels every day which is not ecological.
