Swiss hotel tradition at its best

It’s a historic building run for generations by the same family. Renovated with great taste and a special flair. The service is outstanding, staff very helpful, friendly and professional, paying attention to all the small extras. Food is delicious, from breakfast to dinner, with high quality local products. Free access to the spa. Beautiful lobby for teatime with cakes or for drinks at neighboring Hotel Walther .

You have to get out and walk a few steps in the cold to reach the spa in the neighboring building. But that’s not a big issue.

The Steinbock is a world class extablishment wrapped in a warm, friendly boutique hotel.

The breakfast buffet was expansive and top quality. The wonderful waitress that served us was swreet and made us feel at home. The room was large by european standards and well appointed. The spa was beautiful and offered everything one could expect. We enjoyed the sauna, a massage, the facility and relaxed poolside while watching it snow outside. The restaurants, especially the fondue and raclette restaurant on premise were stuff of lifetime memories. We met locals and servers there that made it a warm and inviting meory as well.

Scenery, comfort, excellent restaurant and an extensive spa

This was my second stay, the first time six years ago and I had long wanted to return. Overall, the hotel is a high standard. I had an “economy single room”, and, although it was small, it was well designed and made good use of the limited space, so was (surprisingly) comfortable and well equipped for its size. I had evening meal both evenings in the restaurant, which were a high standard and enjoyable, likewise breakfasts; the restaurant was refurbished a few years ago and is a significant improvement. I especially like the spa and pool area, which are extensive, easy to use, and can spend an enjoyable few hours there. Plus the location in a pleasant small town, surrounded by dramatic scenery, and plenty of walking, of all grades, from the hotel. As is normal in Switzerland, easy to get to by train. All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

(A minor point), coffee at breakfast was not as good as other places I stayed at.

Book this place without hesitations

I liked that we could use the steam rooms as part of your overnight with no additional charge. The breakfast had a lot of options. The breads were incredible. The place was very clean.

We had a nice size room. However, I thought the window view would be an inside courtyard. It was of someone else’s house with hanging laundry. Next time I would ask about specifics of room location but all OK since we had only 1 overnight. However, it was a great place to stay. The downstairs area had interesting furnishings.

The hotel has a charming, traditional atmosphere though has obviously been refurbished and looked after. The breakfast choice was excellent. We ate dinner here which delicious and good value. The spa was super clean, light and welcoming with a fairly large swimming pool and well laid out spa area. Their are walks from the hotel or the hotel will take you down to the train station (a fifteen minute walk) from where you can catch a train to destinations along the Bernina line.

A 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star

The interior design in all the public areas were really nice and clean and cozy. The restaurant serves very good food with good quality meat and fish. The staff was very friendly but still very professional. We had a great stay and would love to come back!

It would have been nice with a little kettle in the room to be able to make tea or instant coffee. The pillows in the beds were very flat and didn’t offer much support and were quite uncomfortable. All the rest was perfect!

Superb

The spa was incredible, a very nice addition to staying in the smaller sister hotel. The hotel is beautiful and in a brilliant location. Also staying more than 2 nights meant we could get free mountain passes for ski lifts etc. Also we were given a packet of chocolate on leaving the hotel. Lovely thoughtful touches.

Room 31 had beams and a small step by the bed which made it highly likely to bang your head or trip. We discussed this with the staff and changed rooms. We are very grateful for this help and support from them.

It is our second time in this lovely hotel. It will be our first choice in this area if we come again. They have good quality kids size one time use slippers, which surprises me a bit. Beds are so comfortable and the restaurant is also very good. The free pick up service from train station is also so convenient.
