Excellent place to stay for a few nights whilst visiting Torquay and surrounding area

The breakfasts were excellent, great attention to detail, well cooked. My wife is Coeliac and Lissanne and Mark went to great lengths to ensure that her dietary needs were taken care of.

Lovely place to stay close to restaurants and bars and beach front

Owners made you feel welcome room was small but clean and tidy comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent full English breakfast which was excellent or you could choose something else cereal fresh fruit yoghurt

Superb two day stay at the Cleveland.

Superb two day stay at the Cleveland. Matt & Lissanne were the perfect hosts, who took time to prepare meals according to individual dietary needs. Food was of exceptionally good quality and rooms were comfortable and decorated to a high standard. On that note, the Cleveland is presented in very good order and tastefully decorated, we particularly enjoyed making use of the gardens and the beach is an easy 15 minute walk. As we ate in both nights I am unable to comment on food in the locality (although nearest pubs did not look very appealing). Parking is available though a bit tight to manoeuvre .... plenty of off street parking for those with larger cars though. A very pleasant stay, would not stay anywhere else in Torquay!

Home from home yet 5* hotel quality

Where do I start.. the hosts were amazing from the moment we booked, right through to check out! We booked last minute, and messaged straight away to ask if we could check in a little earlier so we could enjoy our last minute break and not be governed by check in times. Matt promptly called me to discuss our message, where he was completely open to changing the check in time for us, as the room was ready, as well as taking the time to ask about our trip, travel time and plans, which was a really nice touch. Upon arrival to The Cleveland we were greeted by both Matt & Lissanne, who were both friendly and welcoming, showing us around the house and then promptly to our room, which was absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean and was made even better by having a few extras such as home made fudge, cold bottled water and fluffy dressing gowns.. lush! Our sleep was perfect, the bed was comfy, the blind blocked the outside light well and the temperature of the room just right, so, we had a lovely rest (too much actually, sleeping through our first alarm), and then woke to an amazing breakfast.. honestly, this was restaurant quality, and it’s clear Matt is a trained chef! We cannot fault anything about this place, so if you’re looking for somewhere special, somewhere that feels like home from home, yet a 5* hotel, you can’t go wrong here!

Thorough relaxing trip through memory lane

We were met by Lissanne, a lovely, friendly lady who greeted us with a cup of tea and a piece of Banana cake which was a lovely way to welcome guests! Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious; I loved the colourful wallpaper! The Cleveland was pleasantly decorated with an easy to use staircase and strong banisters. I have osteoarthritis and that is really important to me! The ensuite bathroom was clean and well designed with soft towels and toiletries if you needed them. Our host Matt was a pleasant gentleman who was also friendly and helpful. Both my husband and I enjoyed a very comfortable night's sleep, a good shower and an extremely tasty breakfast. All ingredients were of good quality; the provenance of each was listed on the back of the menu. We knew of each location too! Lissanne's jam, marmalade and fudge are all homemade. I recommend a purchase of each of them! Have a good Easter Archie!!

Just be cautious when entering or exiting the steep drive as you might catch the under cover/splash shield(?) on the drive surface. It's not a problem if you are a careful driver!

Birthday treat

What a find! Room was lovely. Fresh milk delivered to your room in the morning if you wanted it with your coffee or tea. Decaffeinated tea bags in the room as well! Breakfast was excellent. It's a pity we were only staying one night. Lissanne and Matt were great hosts. Many thanks.

Lovely, bed and breakfast with stylish decor.

Room spacious and comfortable with gorgeous decor. Lovely bright and comfortable lounge area. Location good, easy to walk into Torquay centre and the marina and a short walking distance from the station. Cooked breakfast excellent with locally sourced products. Homemade marmalade very good. Matt and Lissanne are very friendly and good hosts.

Towels were thin and not very absorbent.

The Bryan family Weekend in Torquay.

We came to Torquay for a lovely weekend and it did not disappoint. The Cleveland is a lovely family run bed and breakfast. Lisanne & Matt were so friendly. Breakfast was definitely a five-star rating. The rooms were nice and spacious, and the bed was comfy. Nothing was too much for them. They accommodated us when needed to. I would highly recommend The Cleveland to my friends and family. Torquay is a great place to visit when not so cold.

There was a lot to love about this property. The owners (Matt) met me when I arrived and showed me around. Even offered me a drink! The room was great - great bed and nice view from the window. Also great location! 10 minute walk to the seafront

The host was very welcoming making us coffee and cake on arrival. The breakfast was cooked to order and superb with locally sourced products.

Breakfast was fantastic, god choice, full English was hot (not always the case) and tasty. Good choice of alternatives too. The premises were extremely clean, hosts were friendly and accommodating. Lounge was comfortable and open. Decorations were tasteful.

Amazing 5 star Where to start, when we arrived we were welcomed by Lissanne who was very welcoming and friendly. We were asked if we wanted a tea/coffee which we had in the living room area and had a lovely piece of home made cake with it too😋Just what we needed after our journey. We were showed up to our and the first impression, was WOW, it was a lovely room with great decor and VERY clean with plenty of tea, coffee etc with fresh milk in the mornings The room was lovely and cosy We have stayed in many B&B over the years and this was the first one that was cleaned and tidied daily. The breakfast was perfect and there was plenty of choice and cooked fresh to order. We will definitely be back if we were to visit Torquay again.

Great staff, great space, wonderfully cosy visit.

I liked the cosiness and cleanliness of the place. The staff were incredibly friendly, and provided a lovely breakfast for both myself and my partner, who is gluten free and vegetarian.

The only down side was the size of the actual room. It was fine for sleeping, but by the time our bags were in, there wasn't space for much else. And the shower only hit a warm temperature.
