Exceptional!

Suzy and Paul are Exceptional hosts. Made us feel very welcome. Suzy went out of her way to provide a wonderful breakfast. I thoroughly recommend the avocado, tomato, feta cheese and chilli jam option. Wonderful to chat with them both. Room was excellent, with every comfort you can think of. Really can't wait to visit them again. 100% recommend.

it was a warm welcome and a smiling goodbye

breakfast was excellent and the home made waffles was to die for. suzy and paul were great hosts making sure you had everything you wanted. Paul even took us back to the station and saw us of on the train.

To have stayed longer with so many places to visit and paul and suzy to guide you where and how to go made it easy. transport was easy and plentyful.

Absolutely fantastic, couldn’t have been happier with our first stay in Torquay

Couldn’t recommend Marmalade enough, Suzy and Paul were both amazing, polite, helpful and friendly. There was a young lad helping serve breakfast in the morning who was also very friendly and helpful. The building itself looks a little small from the outside but once you get in it is surprisingly spacious, as well as delightfully decorated, clean and obviously well loved and cared for. Little features i never would have thought to expect made all the difference, for example the breakfast room which is the little conservatory style extension you can see in the listing, had tinted glazing on the roof panels, so the morning sun wasn’t an issue. As someone with overly sensitive eyes, i spend my life squinting so that really stood out to me. The room itself, was lovely. The aesthetic was delightful, there was a selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate to use with the provided kettle, and a mini fridge inside the wardrobe with fresh milk rather than a pile of little pre-sealed plastic pots of fake milk. Also bottled water in the fridge. Spacious and comfortable, with blinds and curtains to use. And the bed was perfect for me, soft but firm. Like it’s giving you a hug but you don’t sink into the mattress. No annoying creaky bedposts that make you think you will wake up other guests every time you roll over. The tv and free wi-fi were both as functional as they needed to be. En-suite bathroom facilities were everything they needed to be, functional and clean. The sink is located in the bedroom while toilet and shower are separate, plenty of towels and all the soaps you could need. I was a little concerned the shower might be a little cramped when i saw it, being a larger man. But once you are in with the door closed, it’s actually quite roomy. Breakfast was delicious, Suzy explained what would be available to help ourselves to on the counter and took our order the night before when we checked in.

The only downside was the breakfast room is a little cramped, if all three tables had been in use at once i would have felt a little uncomfortable being so close to the other guests. Obviously the size of the room can’t be helped, but if i was organising it i might put the table with all the leaflets and brochures in the hallway to see if i could space the tables out a little more. But thinking about it the doors might make that impossible.

Hosts are as fabulous as their accommodation!

Friendly welcoming and accommodating hosts. Paul and Suzy really do go out of their way for you. We had to leave our car at a driven to location until morning, and Paul very kindly gave us a lift the next morning to pick it up. The relaxed checkout is a bonus, and I can honestly say we have never had this anywhere else we have stayed before. Both are very knowledgeable and interesting people who are enjoying what they do, and it shows. We loved hearing your stories and Pauls jokes, too. Thank you

The hosts were really wonderful and welcoming. They answered our questions on restaurant recommendations. They were relaxed and chatted to us. The parking outside was good. The room was good, comfy and clean. It had everything you needed for a short stay. The breakfast was nice and there was a good selection of items. Good walking distance to centre and in a good place to explore the surrounding areas.

What was really nice was the personal touches suzie a and Paul are really nice couple the room was spotless and they couldn't have done more to help. Susie's breakfast where lovely from the full breakfast to my waffles and the pouched eggs muffin and salmon she organised time so we had a freshly cooked breakfast not like a premier inn where it stands all morning. My husband loved her cups of tea,they fresh fruit ,I could not fault them at all if your wanting a 5 star b&b with a personal touch marmalade b&b is the place to be.Thankyou for our stay Paula and Richard

Fabulous stay at Marmalade B & B

I'm so pleased we booked to stay a few days at Marmalade B&B , the hosts were a fabulous couple called Paul & Suzy who made our stay as comfortable as they could and went above and beyond to help us or get us things for our room etc. We had a lovely, freshly cooked, hot breakfast cooked fresh to order by Suzy, which was delicious. The bedroom was comfortable and had everything in it. Suzy even made little cakes in our room to welcome us, what a lovely touch mmmmm! Thank you! We would definitely recommend you stay here and if were back up that way we will definitely be booking again. Thank you Paul & Suzy , love Lynn & Peter Sells xx

was a very homely cosy property, the room we stayed in was spacious clean and tidy. bathroom was a nice size and had just been refurbished and was decorated gorgeous. breakfast room was nice and cosy had plenty of light. breakfast itself was really nice and tasty with plenty of options.
