Fat Pete's Pod

With the exception of the welcome pack of food (milk, bread, butter, jam and marmalade) kindly provided by the hosts, this is a self-catering stay. There is a small fridge and a microwave. The fridge was very useful.

I stayed during a heat wave so the pod got warm. On one evening it took a while to clear the heat from the pod. Despite this the pod remained a comfortable place to be in. There's a fan which the hosts showed me how to recharge - very helpful.

Everything! When we arrived, there was freshly baked bread from a local bakers, jam, coffee and tea. A microwave is available as well and there was all the cutlery and plates needed for the stay. The cabin itself is incredibly cozy. A fan was provided also which was very helpful in the height of summer. The bed was freshly made and all the bathroom facilities were self contained. A lovely bathroom with shower supplied with soaps and shampoos. There is also a small TV in the corner with access to a fire stick and books provided above the headboard of the bed with ambient lights and charging points. My favorite part was watching Fat Pete the Pigeon perform his acrobatics reaching the bird feeder and all the other birds. Often you could hear them land on the roof and after dusk there's a bat that flies around the garden for 20 minutes or so. Also, it's so quiet and peaceful. Could barely hear any vehicles through the night and even during the day it doesn't seem that there's too much traffic about. The town center is about 20 minutes away by car. Parking is a bit expensive so taking the bus may have been a better option as I was allowed to use the parking space in the driveway. It's a 2 minute walk to the main road where the bus can be caught. The town itself is a Norman settlement with a castle dating back to 1100 ad and several churches and cathedrals. The market was very cool with a good selection of stalls from plushie sellers to military surplus and entry of street food. The owners are absolutely lovely people and looked after us very well, and the garden is gorgeous. It was an absolute pleasure to enjoy it.

The fact I had to leave. I could quite happily live here all year round. In fact, I bet it's lovely when it rains.

Absolutely lovely pod, very peaceful, clean, well equipped. Close to everything you need and the park and ride is a bonus!
