A Perfect Place to Stay whilst visiting Edinburgh

We loved the location and the accommodation. Our room and bathroom were spotless, beautifully maintained and comfortable. We also loved having a sitting room and large TV. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Our hosts were so very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Sandy gave us a lift down into town and lots of local information on the way. Marie recommended things to do and places to eat. They also gave us a very helpful information sheet which we used to plan our activities. We parked our car inside the grounds of the lovely home and garden, at no extra charge. We enjoyed our stay immensely and cannot recommend ‘The Cairn Residence’ more highly. Thank you Sandy and Marie, we would love to return!

A dreamy stay at Edinburgh

The property is amazing , very elegant and spotless. Marie and Sandy are superb, their warm hospitality made us feel at home. Marie’s delicious breakfast is the perfect way to start a day, we felt she really cared about us and prepared the food we like. Sandy drove us to the center and showed us bus options we have. Marie and Sandy recommended attractions and gave us a printed summary. We enjoyed our stay and it was difficult to leave.

Top notch accommodation in Edinburgh with super hosts Sandy and Marie - Wonderful!!

What a great stay with Sandy and Marie in their lovely home in Edinburgh. Just a short, picturesque walk along the river or a quick bus trip into town from their wonderful home – where we enjoyed a spacious bedroom, large bathroom, our own lounge area, magnificent breakfasts, and great hospitality. We had many chats with the hosts and the time flew far too quickly. We’ll have to return someday for more of the same. Wholly recommended and a fabulous start to our trip in Scotland!

Amazing property and so comfortable and spotless. Breakfast freshly served each morning, nothing was too much trouble. Sandy and Marie are the perfect hosts and made my friend and I so welcome. Brilliant for attending a concert at Murrayfield Stadium.

The accommodation is lovely, better than the photos.

A quiet upmarket location, the house has lovely art deco features and the accommodation was spacious and private. Helpful, friendly hosts. Buses from outside house to town took 10minutes.

Although the hosts were very friendly and made us tea and coffee even when we came back late, we would have preferred a kettle in the room.

Amazing hosts! Central location! Beautiful property!

We had a perfect stay, the accommodation and facilities were perfect, central to Edinburgh centre and the Murrayfield stadium, close to the station too! Our room was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need! What made our stay so special was Sandy and Marie. They were the perfect hosts and genuinely could not do enough for us. The communication before our stay was great, they were on hand to answer any questions and gave brilliant advice of where to go/how to get around etc. We were blown away by their wonderful service!! Thankyou we will definitely book again if we are in Edinburgh again!

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in 5 star accommodation.

Lovely location, easy access in to Edinburgh, the Zoo and the Botanical gardens. Breakfast was good with food choices to accommodate all tastes. The accommodation with the addition of a sitting room for our own use was an added bonus!

The accommodation is less en suite and more a suite. Bedroom, bathroom and living room, all of an excellent size and comfort. The couple owning the house are incredibly hospitable. In principle, it's a continental breakfast but Marie was delighted to cook something different daily and, on those few occasions I stayed in the house I was regularly plied with more tea and a few biscuits. If they were still up when I got in, we would talk about how our days had gone (with more tea, and offers of biscuits or even toast or sandwiches). I can't fault it.

Edimburgo è una città bellissima ma senza dubbio l’abbiamo vissuta al meglio grazie a Marie e Sandy, splendidi padroni di casa che ci hanno consigliato posti giusti da visitare ed anche accompagnato in centro per agevolarci. La casa è meravigliosa, ampia, pulitissima e sebbene lievemente decentrata, è servita da bus puntuali e presenti. Essere alloggiati qui ti fa vivere Edimburgo, i suoi abitanti, le sue usanze come se ne facessi parte. E’ un qualcosa in più che rende la vacanza unica. Colazione scozzese preparata dalla padrona di casa, super!
