Location

Bed was creaking and very loud, hole in the wooden floor in the room, room was cold and loud from traffic, toilet seat hanging off the base, towel rail was dusty and dirty.

Great location, nice hotel.

Good location, nice room, nice bar and dining.

No staff at reception, sign asking us to ring bell for attention - no bell. Light switch was broken, literally fell off the wall. Managed to clip it back on and get it working again. As a sister hotel to Le Monde, I expected the rooms to be a little fancier. However they were a little basic.

Nice boutique hotel with some distinctive features and a bar worth visiting for its atmosphere

Good location for central Edinburgh and convenient for us as attending a function in hotel. Nice room with comfortable bed and a bath which we like. Bar and restaurant had a good atmosphere and live music in the evening.

Function room was in basement and was long and narrow in shape. There was limited seating and tables so guests had to stand for most of the night.

Great hotel in centre of town

Location, uniqueness, and staff. You automatically get 20% off in the hotel bar and restaurant. Loved how the rooms were all named after Scottish artists, we stayed in the Amy McDonald room. The heating in the room was clearly on the fritz so they supplied an alternative heating source that was perfect. No fuss nor disregard for their clientele they just cracked on and managed the situation like a boss!

Great location but really bad bathrooms

The location was amazing and the shower pressure was great. Complimentary tea, coffee and water was a positive too.

They say reception is 24/7 but there’s never anybody in there (and although there’s a sign that says “ring the bell for service” there’s no bell). We had to wait for 20 min when we arrived for someone to show up and do our check in. Bathroom doesn’t have working extractor fan, the windows don’t open and the radiator/tower heater also didn’t work, so after the two of us showering there was no place for the mist to go and I couldn’t use the bathroom mirror (that was the only in the room), because even cleaning up with a towel it’d immediately get foggy again. It left the room with a wet smell after we left and came back from dinner. We asked at the front desk if someone could check the towel heater because the bathroom was freezing at night and towels weren’t drying, but the only thing they did was changing the towels for clean ones. Mattress is memory foam which did not agree with my back, but I guess that’s preference and some people would love it. There was a piece of nail (that perfect half moon) on the bathroom railing door that did not belong to me or my partner.

Breakfast and Dinner were both amazing at the hotel. The staff at the hotel were hands down the best! We dealt with several different people and all of them were top notch!

I can’t think of one thing that we didn’t like. I would truly have to make something up because no one in our group had an issue!

Lovely bar and hotel

Loved the style , each room is named after a famous Scottish person . Shower was v powerful I nearly flooded the bathroom . Bed was v comfortable.

Maintenance of the room needs some care 107 Kelly macdonald room skirting boards have a gap in both bathroom and bedroom very compact especially bathroom. Breakfast was v busy when I arrived and had to wait 10 minutes to get noticed and then missing items but staff seemed v rushed off their feet .

Uncomfortable and noisy

Location

Check out and check in was poor. Room was tatty and a bit dusty. It was heated by a Dyson air heater and it was turned up to 28 degrees when I checked in, but when not on was freezing. Bed was squeaky and lumpy. Bathroom door was placed so you couldn’t access the sink properly. The room had a Juliette balcony with frosted glass rather than curtains, so bright light from the building opposite came in all night. Very noisy till the late hours. No breakfast included, poor for the price.

The bedroom radiator didn’t work, there was a Dyson fan on the desk - we hadn’t realise it was for hot/cold air till the morning- however you don’t expect there to be no heating at all. The room was cold, there were no extra blankets in the wardrobe. Breakfast service was really slow and it took over 1/2 hour to arrive, one couple actually left without receiving their food.

Location

There was no temperature control in the room. Just a fan. It was very hot and steamy in the room and very uncomfortable. At night the lobby was the overflow for the restaurant so no hotel staff was available.

Exceptional city centre hotel

I booked this hotel for my daughters 40th birthday weekend after we'd stayed here 4 years ago. This is an outstanding city centre hotel and my daughter loved it. I informed the hotel I'd booked it for a special occasion and they gave her a room upgrade drinks on arrival and a free bottle of Prosecco for dinner. The bar area is so atmospheric with live music every night. The food is exceptional and make sure you book breakfast. The hotel is as magical as Edinburgh itself.

Very expensive for a tired room.

Good location, handy for Usher Hall.

No signage outside to tell you where to enter for reception. Very expensive for a very tired room, definitely in need of refurbishment. Set menu for breakfast, unable to help yourself, so only one drink each and you can’t mix and match. Never come across this before and it’s not a benefit! There was a wedding party on so quite noisy. Won’t be back.

Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back if in Edinburgh again.

It’s in a perfect location, right in the centre of the city close to everything and the bus stop for the express bus to and from the airport is only a 2 minute walk. The room was comfortable, neat and tidy. The food was absolutely gorgeous, both for breakfasts and for evening meals in the cocktail bar.
