For us great location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
Small things like you have to tap your card three times (not one, two or four times - always three), shower head broken and not possible to turn off heat totally.

We were really pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. We weren't too familiar with the area, as it was a little out of the city centre, which helped to keep the cost down, but we have to say we loved it. A big park opposite, a lovely area of Edinburgh, with some decent restaurants nearby made for a winning location for us. We were very happy with our room, we ended up getting an upgrade for only £10 which overlooked the park aforementioned. It was big, with a huge comfortable bed which made for a lovely night's sleep. The bathroom had 'his n'hers' basins, excellent for simultaneously getting ready in the morning. The shower was good, nothing out of the ordinary either way.
Our only criticism was the bathroom radiator was on full belt and made the bathroom extremely hot, not that comfortable on what was probably the hottest weekend of the year. That and the top of the wardrobe was dusty. We'd travelled from Oban to Edinburgh by motorcycle, and we stored our helmets on top of the wardrobe. When we brought them back down, a ton of dust came down with them. Not overly complaining about this but a minor detail worth noting perhaps.

Very good sized bedroom and ensuite. Lovely bathroom. Robes. Sofa in bedroom. Tea and coffee facilities. Bed comfortable.
Rude and unhelpful staff, minus a young male waiter at breakfast.
No plugs anywhere near a mirror. Asked for an extension cable. Wasn't able to facilitate. I can't be the only one asking for power near a mirror!
