My room (4 bed) was spacious. The bed was comfortable and clean so too the bathroom. Room 508 was the top of the building and very hot with a very small window. It was so hot we had to have the window open all night - however it was directly above the bar. It was very noisy (screaming and shouting till past 1am) I was unaware that you could request a quiet room. If i rerun I would avoid 508. The guest kitchen is extremely small and can only cater for 2/3 people at one time. The luggage room is also small for the amount of guests.

The location is excellent, just off the royal mile. Breakfast, for the price, was really good with lots of variety. We didn't expect any hot food but there were sausages, beans, hash browns as well as rolls, cheese etc - regular continental. The room was small but did the trick - you don't go to Edinburgh to sit in a hotel room. Staff were friendly. The only downside was the time it took to check in which seems to be by an incredibly clunky system, even though there are screens to check yourself in to supposedly speed up the process

With our private family quadruple room in A&O Edinburgh, we enjoyed our 3 nights here in beautiful cool Edinburgh due to the following reasons: 1. Staff was helpful and friendly with good advice throughout our stay on a few things to look out for after arriving from Madrid, Basque country, Portugal and before England for about 4 weeks in September 2025. (My sincere apologies for the late review). 2. Centrally located with the popular Royal Mile just a short 3-minute walk away yet it was a quiet, safe and peaceful stay for 3 nights. The Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Park and the Arthur's Seat are a comfortable walking distance away too. 3. Our family room is relatively clean and spacious for the 3 of us with a portable big fan to ventilate our room in autumn. 4. The elevator was useful but wish there were 2 lifts instead of 1 so it is better to avoid the peak hours like the check-in/check-out timings. 5. Plenty of good restaurants like The Edinburgh Larder & 3 Blind Mice, various souvenir shops and travel agencies like Highland Explorer Tours which are all within the 100 metres radius. Strongly recommended if you are looking for convenience, value and positive vibes. Enjoy Edinburgh with A&O Edinburgh as your accommodation partner.

I stayed here from Sept 19–22, 2026, and had a very poor experience. Check-in was a mess due to severe understaffing—only one person was working the desk with a huge line of guests waiting. The room conditions were unacceptable: visible dust and virtually no ventilation. A single small table fan for a 4-person room is nowhere near enough, making it uncomfortable to sleep. The washroom also had zero ventilation and no ledge or holder to set down soap or toiletries. Poor service, bad hygiene, and uncomfortable rooms. I won't be returning.
