Modern, spacious, quiet and clean room, with modern and comfortable bathroom. Great location, 20 minutes walking to historical center), 10 minutes walking to Haymarket train station tram stop. The breakfast was very good in quality and quantity/variety. The staff at the front desk was polite, helpful and efficient.
A little bit of more polite behavior from the staff at the breakfast area would be most welcome. A guest is not a casual pal and should be addressed with a level of formality (Sir). Casual conversation about the Country of origin or any other matter, while checking the breakfast list, followed by the expression "sit down", even in a friendly tone, indicates lack of professionalism.

Staff very welcoming
Hotel was a short walk to all major landmarks and city
Room clean and bed was comfortable
Room was perfect temperature
Shower in room didn’t function properly and therefore the bathroom was soaked after each shower

Location, price and friendliness of staff
The heating wasn’t working properly in the room (should have reported it) and the shower could be slightly more powerful

Location is close to public transport. Few minutes away from restaurants and grocery stores. Gym has a wide selection of equipment which is enough to break a sweat.
Pillows were too tall/ thick for my liking. My toilet had poop marks from previous residents. As there was no toilet brush in the bathroom, the marks remained there until the end of my stay.

Great price for last minute booking, staff were helpful and friendly. Location was near train station. Room was comfortable and very clean!

Everything was great. Bed is comfy, room was clean and nice. Breakfast was great, plenty options, even for people who have to be on gluten free diet. Location was excellent.
One day of the stay we didn't have enough hot water. Also, tv is not smart tv as it says in the room catalogue.

The room was clean and towels changed everyday. The location is 10-minute walk from Haymarket train station but be aware it's not a flat road all the time.
I booked for two rooms and one of the room heating is broken unknowingly. The staff knew it but only provide a portable heater the next day. It should not be happening especially when it is freezing cold that night.

Perfect location for my stay ...lovely hotel, very clean, wonderful friendly staff and extremely accommodating
My only issue was I was cold in my room and couldn't increase heat source. There was a portable oil filled heater in the room which kind of indicates there was a problem with the central heating
The heating...my room was cold

The location was within walking distance to the City Centre
No heat in our room, asked to have it sorted but nothing done on the first day, asked to have it sorted a second time and they put a blow heater and another type in the room, blow heater had to be turned off due to noise and fumes, no toilet downstairs in the lobby so you had to go back to you room to use the toilet, mould in the shower

The location
No heating in room, complained by leaving a message on voicemail and by email system for someone to say it was sorted (it was not)
There was mould in my room, my partner is now home ill.
No cleaning, one day had a card through door saying we had do not disturb sign on. We didn’t at the point of the card…not once cleaned .
Receptionist sorted a heater for us.

Lovely room, quiet area , delicious breakfast with lots of options
Close to the Grassmarket area of the city and the Meadows
Hotel is a 15 minute walk or so to the West End area of Princes St so just a bit out
Breakfast not included , advise to book it as its much cheaper than just turning up in the morning
The bar area was just a little bit small

I'm a wheelchair user and the room and bathroom were perfect for me with plenty of room to move about
A cleaner tried to enter the room at 9am Saturday when we were staying 2 nights and said we should have had the do not disturb sign up

This hotel is great for access to the Haymarket tram stop, 10min walk.
The hotel had safety lifts, ie you can only use your room card to move to floor levels.
This hotel is more suited to business guests staying one night not holiday couples/families. Phone not plugged in and then staff slow to respond on arrival to room. The safe was not working and upon asking housekeeping staff I had no joy as he was unable to help. Spoken English poor.
Breakfast was the same layout for the 4 days I stayed. Adequate but cold items such as eggs, mushrooms from the hot selection on final day.
The heater control in room did not work and was told that reception control this. They provided a heater! This hotel is 4 star, I expect to be able to control my own room temperature.
Day 1..not their fault but a water leak resuting in no water at all, this took several hours to fix. Communication poor, staff provided water to fill kettle.
Day 2, explained to reception that the duvet was insufficient quality, lumpy and thin, he suggested housekeeping could check.
Day 3 came back at 3pm for a rest to find room not tended too. Went to reception to ask for tea and water. He could provide none. Housekeeping will be contacted. An hour later a lady arrived who's spoken English was poor, unable to understand my request for the water and type of tea.
The lift opens to face reception, not one single day was i greeted with a smile or acknowledgment. All staff look like they dont care. Out of 4 days I was asked twice if I was checking out.
The water in sink tap is boiling hot water, there should be a note up. There is nowhere to hang towels, no heated towel rail. Due to no heat control in room the towels dont get dry.
I would not recommend this hotel at all. One night if your in Edinburgh on business you wouldn't notice maybe but my 4 day, 1st break to Edinburgh could have been better. The Mercure group need to re look at this hotel. I wouldn't choose this name again.

Clean facilities in the room
Cold breakfast!!!
The attitude of the night staff(a male), when I
Complained about our heating not working in our room, the response from him was unacceptable as he basically said there was nothing more could be done to fix it. We were given a small very noisy heater which we couldn’t hear the tv above the heater! We were told to give them a while to try and solve the problem we waited an hour and heard nothing, no knock on the door , no call to the room at all! I had to go down again, customer service on this occasion was poor. We was told that the heating would be fixed during the following day. We came back to the room and it was working…. For a very short time! Not acceptable

Excellent location, 10 minutes walk from Haymarket station
Clean and tidy, modern rooms comfortable bed, no wardrobe space which didn’t bother me as I was there myself with only an overnight bag

Good location
Very untidy reception area & staff. Breakfast was poor & general hotel cleanliness was below standard. All in all very poor standard & not good value for money.

Within walking distance to Haymarket station for travelling and to Princes St for sightseeing
Unfortunately I found the mattress and pillows hard and uncomfortable giving a poor sleep. The heating didn't seem to adjust to desired settings meaning the room was quite cold through the night.

The restaurant's location was inconvenient, and the music was too loud during breakfast. It was also too cold, making for an uncomfortable and uninviting atmosphere. Additionally, there was no proper bar area.

Staff were welcoming and helpful in organising a 6am wake up call for the following morning so I could get to the airport on time after explaining I was having issues with my phone. Location is very good and is about 10 or so minutes walk from the Haymarket train station so has easy access to the buses and trams used for access to the Airport. I've stayed nearby last year so it was great seeing sites and places I knew so was very quick to find my way back onto princes Street in Edinburgh and all the shops and places to eat. Staff made me feel welcome and provided excellent service and made checking in and out a very quick and friendly service. I'm looking forward to returning to Edinburgh in the future and I will definitely be looking to come back to Mecure again in the future.
The only thing I noticed was there was two elevators on the ground floor by reception, one of which I accidentally used which was one that was meant to be used by staff but I didn't know until after I was returning to the hotel after being out. I only found out it was staff use only after I was already on my way to my floor. There was only one small sign in the elevator to say staff use only, but nothing outside the elevator to say it was staff use only. Apart from getting confused by the elevator everything else was amazing.

Location ideal to walk up to the Castle and old town area. Clean tidy hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Fairly convenient discounted parking 10 min walk.
Restaurant not available for evening meals Monday which seemed a little odd. But plenty of restaurant options within a short walk.

The location in Edinburgh is central and you have easy access to most places.
The breakfast selection is diverse.
The staff is friendly and attentive.
Room was too expensive in comparison to similar places overall. It was just before the Fridge Festival in late July/early August - timing is everything.

Location, friendly staff
had a “privileged” room in name only — there was nothing privileged about it. The room was tiny, with very limited space and amenities. It definitely didn’t reflect the price I paid. Breakfast was just an average English breakfast, with very few vegetarian options.
9.0 / 10.0
The area was calm and quiet. Easy access to buses, restaurants, and supermarkets. Walkable distance to the train station.
The air conditioning controller was deactivated, and I have to call the reception every time to turn it ON or adjust the temperature.
